  1. Yep. Identical system with 16GB of memory, left W7 x86 RAM-unlimited, right W7 x64: x64 manages more GFLOPS in less time. Yep, in some cases unlimited x86 is faster. Also CPU temps and power draw are lower on unlimited x86 than on x64 (at least with a Phenom II Thuban X6).
  2. You'll forgive me if I don't break in applause but that Start Menu is seriously defective: - There is an extensive Metro crap infection completely occluding the right half. - Search windows and the web? - (Not mission critical, but 'All Apps' just doesn't sound serious) Instead of pulling the Metro crap that nobody wants out of focus, they double on force-feeding it. All I see is another ominous step in the metrofication and eventual liquidation of Desktop/Win32. Every 'concession' to usability is now just poisoned bait .

  5. Ummm, sorry. That is most certainly *not* 'taking it like a man'. Listen up fanboy. By bending over, grabbing your ankles with a smile on your face you are doing the exact opposite - taking it like a woman. Try again sweetie. Right below the developer of Pale Moon had this to say: BTW in the last iteration of PM the search default is DuckDuckGo.

  10. It's scientifically impossible for the sky to fall upon us, Abraracourcix lost a lot of sleep in vain . That said, as on average 37,000 tons of meteors plunge into Earth's atmosphere every year, it wouldn't harm to keep an eye on them.
  11. Interesting video on the subject from the AMNH:
  12. Same here, I just can't stand most of this special folders stuff. The 'Libraries' in particular have a special place in my heart . This is of course due to us being surviving fossils from the PleisDOScene epoch, stubborn resistant to change creatures anachronistically bent on something as démodé as directly controlling where our stuff is really located .
  13. LOL it's not everyday that for a change it's we lowly plebs who can spook on the royalty :
  14. ^ MS was well aware of this since the pleistocene: The famous video of Chris Pirillo's dad confronting Tiles 8 shows this perfectly: MS simply chose to screw the users with Tiles 8. Specially the non-power users.
  15. Ditch your ancient XP and update to a modern secure OS before it's too late! Beware of doomsday, you sinners! Windows 8 is the most vulnerable Windows OS, you can thank Flash for that
  16. Mary Jo Foley's prediction in particular dispels any doubt we could habour in our hearts that Windows 9 will be an astounding success on mobiles, touch and, quite specially, on traditional desktops :
