  1. Wow highly interesting! Does NSSM work in XP and Se7en Jaclaz? EDIT- Never mind: "... nssm should work under Windows 2000 or later. Specifically, Windows 7 and Windows 8 are supported. 32-bit and 64-bit binaries are included in the download ..."
  2. From Vista onwards that can be done with Sysinternals RAMmap clicking on 'Empty' => 'Empty Standby List' . Most unfortunately RAMmap doesn't run on XP . You may try this: ClearMem.exe
  3. ^ Heh interesting comment in there: A selection of epic comments from the Reddit thread :
  4. The full text from reddit: ^ So power users must embrace Metro => Even though it is designed for computer illiterates => Because it's for the power users' own good in the long term => For Metro is the magic key that will open the door for incredible wonders that will happen in the desktop => At some undeterminate point in the future, be patient. One of the biggest piles of manure I've ever seen. Only the officialisation that Metro was designed for computer illiterates has a bit of relevance (we all knew that already).
  5. For some reason the newsreels in Starship Troopers come to my mind : No kidding! Who'd have thought!
  6. Microsoft to Kill Windows 7 sales for consumer PCs in October
  7. @ submix8c I can't tell about FF, not been using it for a long time. About the enthusiasm that the new 'feature' is drawing and the eagerness to incorporate it into PM, see here.
  8. My pleasure. I discovered PM by chance years ago and have been a lunatic since then, never looked back.
  9. Not sure what you mean submix8c but I'd be surprised if the guy behind Pale Moon doesn't kill this ad crap with fire whenever it appears on FF. Illustrative quote:
  10. There is a 'legacy' 3.6.32 x86 version that runs OK on ancients. It has been EOL since 2012 but I can still browse decently with it on a PIII dinosaur I keep alive and kicking B) . The standard x86 version will run on anything from P4/Athlon64 inclusive onwards. I always run the Portable versions from ramdisk for good effect. Just click on the moon drawing above ^ , or here: http://www.palemoon.org/
  11. If you want all that is good in FF plus some more, minus nothing of the crap:
  12. Interesting lines in that article from Mr. Thurrott: ^ But but but that would mean ... ... (drums beating) ... ... the application of plain logical common sense! Taboo!
  13. Roger, alea iacta est. It was good while it lasted, beyond Se7en lies the gulf. Linux time gents.
  14. At this overwhelming pace of 0.09% increase per month world Metrofication (100% marketshare) will be achieved by 2096, give or take.
  15. Got inspired by the luminary above. LOL I like that phrase.
  16. Click the spoiler. That is priceless! Well done. :^ Homeric!
  17. All these 'telemetry tales' are just hogwash. Forrest Gump wouldn't have needed any telemetry to predict in early 2012 that murdering the Start Menu by decree and force-feeding Metro down the throats would make The Tiles Wonder capsize and founder. A then competent Microsoft team didn't need any telemetry in 1995 to create an efficient GUI, a 20-person field study was enough. As Formfiller says, what a crazy f***ed up industry this is.
  18. Wow, awesome, context menus on the right click!!! At this rate of intellectual penetration they'll have Windows 95 fully reinvented by 2020 or so.
  19. "It's for the common good, it's for our security. They're just censoring depraved things after all, ain't them? ..."
  20. Quite interestingly, yesterday I managed to capture this image with slightly different numbers: Even more interestingly , Neowin 'wrongly' uses the numbers in 'my' capture (6.65 + 3.5 = 10.15) : Voluble things numbers are .
