  1. First, jeweekes while i think it is great that you asked for help and provided you winnt.sif file for review.... I WOULD NOT SUGEST YOU GIVE OUT YOUR CD KEY !!! If that is not your real key then nevermind.
  2. Does your bios have an OS install mode??? I know the dell systems i have at work do... some it helped imensly. this will basically set system ram to 256MB, if you don't have a setting, try reducing the amount of system ram to about 256MB and see if that helps. If not i will look for something else...
  3. they aren't really "integrated" they are meged in a way that during the install they get used to build the core.... not an after install script install (i.e. winupdate install) so, when you use the repair function it repoads the CORE of xp, not your "merged update".... I ran into this also. It sucks, but until someone can find a fool prof way, we have to deal.
  4. OK, so do you want just a blank "favorites" folder (i.e. no links whatsoever inside)???? Then i would sugest making a script "del" command that accesses the "favorites" folder and deletes all contents.
  5. Increase your shutdown time.... Iknow, I know, your go "duh, i knew that", but really. Give it about 2 1/2 minutes before shutdown, that way if you use your disk on a "slower" machine or have a pesky program that needs just a little more time to finish, then it will work. Hope this helps
  6. OK,OK,OK I think i understand your problem.... When your command "delete favorites" runs there is no admin folder yet. but your code will work if your time it correctly... You have to wait until after your desktop profile is created. If you change the code to delete the default user "favorites" then no account with get those folders, it is all up to you......

  8. I use it for my project and it works wonders... very easy to understand. and Change !!!!
  9. what is your problem with installing VPC???
  10. I use Ghost to make an image, then used gdisk to hide. With some simple code, it will unhide the ghost partition, delete the "c" partition, remake the "c" partition, robbot (part 1) then restore the ghost image, then hide the ghost partition. All of this is from a floppy, but it works very nice.... I have used it on many of my costomer machines.
  11. Have you tryed looking for your account under the computer management console.... If you have pro edition it is easily accesible, if you have home... it is there i just don't know where...
  12. Auto Play Menu builder is free, but has a splash screen until you pay.... BUT NO TRAIL Period...
  13. I might be wrong but i think the only way to update your menu like that is to either, use a CDRW/DVDRW or make a new disk each time you update.
  14. Check your lease time on the router.
  15. What are the specs of the computer??? What windows version are you using to load the system with???? If you are using ME (NOT an Upgrade CD) then it will boot just fine when you set you BIOS to boot from CD. If you are using any other (newer, i.e. NT, 2K, XP)windows that are NOT UPGRADES, then they are already bootable also.
  16. I did the above, and guess what..... I got an error.... MCE said it needed the "netfx" folder... for what i don't know... but once i replaced.... it worked just fine...
  17. SP2 Firewall is only customizable thru 2003 Server or alternatively you can make a new slipsteamed sp2 xp disk with the firewall settings in your winnt.sif file, and tell it to do a repair install.... i have personnaly done this and it works... Hope this helps
  18. make a newtork share folder... keep in mind the user issue for network shares.... i.e. name /password....
  19. OK, just to clarify..... UPDATE The PRODSPEC.INI in I386 folder does identify the server versions... ; ;Note to user: DO NOT ALTER OR DELETE THIS FILE. ; [SMS Inventory Identification] Version=1.0 [Product Specification] Product=Windows Server 2003, Web Edition Version=5.0 Localization=English ServicePackNumber=0 BitVersion=40 [Version] DriverVer=10/01/2002,5.2.3790.0 I'm not trying to get upset, but i really detest when people misquote me, or say i said something different.
  20. Your welcome... BTW, did it identify any other windows version... i.e. Server or anything else???
  21. You are in luck my friend... I work for the Army, and in my unit i am the SR. Computer Repair tech. We wanted a solution to help with this exact issue. SO..... 1. Make a Boot disk from Ghost... , then 2. Use WinImage and make a bootable image file, or use Nero/Roxio to make your bootable sector copying from the boot floppy. 3. Copy your ghost file to the project and tweak you ghost settings per the manual and your good to go.
  22. Easy ---- Backup; format; reload... Hard ---- Remove peice by peice, think you have it all, then find more and remove those pieces, then it might get unstable... Too much work if you ask me....
  23. You do acctally have to edit anything in the ubcd.dat file... just make the boot folders, as said in the guide and update your boot menu and the ubcd menu.
  24. the correct listing is: WIN51IP WIN51 WIN51IP.SP1 WIN51IP.SP2
