VPC and VMWare ar basically the same when it comes to memory... The more you feed it the better it runs.... You should also set the HDD to "dynamically" expand.... Image is larger the more you put in it, without your intervention.

Are you willing to post "all" of the final release of the files together for some of us to get easier??

If the virtual PC session alredy has information on it (ie a loaded HDD) then you will not get that message unless you have the AutoFormat option set in your winnt.sif file as dahak said..

The only time my local admin ( not my account) is logged into is the first logon ( runonce) then from that point on, it is all my account...

Is there a way to get any info to be preset in an "upgrade" like you can in an unattened install?? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two more days gone by..... and no help.... look under the MCE setion of the forum... i fixed mine to be one disk...

ok, i think i get it... I have my Loacal default admin account, which i renamed... My admin account... auto logon... My wifes admin account (for networking).... I preset this enviorment for testing things at work... Is any of this like what your wanting to accomplish?

You don't even have to go that far.... Do a google search for a "XP password reset tool". or search the forum....

I have been trying for the last few months, posting and searching.... I can get the unattended install... install with hidden pages.... How can i get XP to "Upgeade" using the same file... All attempts are failing... I looked at Microsoft and they are no help, just more confusion. When i called they asked for cd key and stuff and since i don't have access to the VLK account for tech support, they won't even answer if it can be done. I hope one of the Geniouses here can help... Would also like to do the same with 2K3 server (all three versions) . Like i said i can make a full unattended, Hidden Pages versions and they work fine.... Just need help with upgrading...

They can't find the CD's it what the man said....... To answer your question.... no... i have repaired 25 or so Compaqs, with that same problem... i still haven't found another way to make a second set. Call compaq or use the website... $30 is not to bad to get a repacement set from them....

Not to sound hate full or any thing, but.... YOU WASTED 3 DAYS WHINING ABOUT THIS DOTNET INSTALLER JUST TO SAY , OH WELL, NORTON AV INSTALLS IT ANYWAY....... I think if you had looked, and i dunno "listened" to a few of us (mainly Alanoll; benners; RyanVM; and myself) whom were giving you some answers.... you wouldn't have wasted your time either.

Just a thought.... What if you made a sp2 disk... integrated the hot fixes..... then boot from the cd... and on the install page.... hit "r" for a repair.... Worked for me, and I used it on 47 machines..... Instead of using the sp2 patch, then all of the hot fixes after.... time to finish repair is faster that previous method. Plus it has kept Domain settings... at least for me it did....

I only injected the two disks.... I tested with cd chell menu...

by far less you mean...... I've only seen VPC to take a memory chunk... that is it.... As far as easy... i couldn't even get VMware to run let alone setup any "virtual" enviroments.... VPC it much easier for me.... more simplistic..... but that is my opinion

The current disk 1 and disk 2 work to boot the system correct??? I used my recovery disk 1 and 2(the one that boots the comuter, starts a PM8 shell) and did exactly what i said for you to try.... hmmmmm.... If you are willing I might be able to let you upload to my ftp, i'll do what i can, send back, to see what was going wrong...Just let me know.

As I said before.... If you have any other issues that you don';t want to post cause you think they are too small of issues... or whatever... PM me... I use VPC SP1 almost every day... Ran into thhe weirdest problems... i should be able to help out with most... Not saying you have to have me help you...

I had the same problem.... Not to hard to fix.... First get a hold of WinImage... the make a copy of your 2 disks into 2 folders (i'll use d1/d2) Use Winimage to make an image file 2.88MB in size, then "inject" d2. make sure the image contains all files ( check hidden/system files) Call PM7.IMA (image you created or what ever name) from you boot program....

I think one of you other unatteded programs is either the culprate, or is tring to use the .net framework
