There is no setup.iss file after running -r or -R or /r In fact, I cannot find anything in the WINDOWS root that deals with Hotkey Master.
-
I still get the dialogue that asks me to checkmark the "I agree". EDIT: ..errr I just opened up the .iss file in notepad. It is not the right one An .iss file for this particular install is not being created.

I'm not sure I understand why you guys claim one is faster or slower. To me, Firefox is fast. Internet Explorer is fast. The only time either is slow is when my cable connection is having problems or the web site I'm trying to go to is having problems. Speed isn't the issue for me. It's everything else about the browsers that make me choose one over the other. EDIT: oh yeah, and maybe 1 out of every 20 pages are tailored to IE, but I still have IE if I want/need it. It's a small price to pay for trouble-free browsing.

Yeah I'm going to take some time to study AutoIT when I have more time. I'm just trying to get my "must-have" programs in order for a silent install I want to do very soon. As for editing options, I don't think that really applies here. Once the program is installed, you create all the hotkeys you want or simply import your already-created .reg file and instantly all of your hotkeys are back in place, just like before the format/reinstallation of Windows. In other words, the default is a blank slate, so no worries about that.

Muchos gracias Small request...could you make it an executable? (I have no idea what to do with those .au3 files)

Can somebody offer help on this one? Hotkey Master This is a great little program, btw, and it is a very small download if one of you seniors would care to give it a go. EDIT: Just to be clear, I have tried executing it like this with no luck: Blah blah\Hotkey master\"HotkeyMaster 23.exe" -s -f1setup.iss <--- EDIT: there is no setup.iss file for this program. The one I used was NOT for Hotkey Master, but from some other installation of a different program. I am unable to generate one for Hotkey Master

Btw, SiMoNsAyS, has created a wonderful silent install of FireFox (Thank you SiMoNsAyS). RichTJ99, you can grab it here.

This is funny. I have always told personal friends and relatives that ME is buggiest. I mean, I thought 98SE was bad enough, but then I tried ME. It was like ---> Now I have a poll as empirical evidence that indeed it is the worst.

RichTJ99, I tried Firefox out just because of all the spyware that IE attracts. I was constantly getting pop-ups that have "can we do this to your PC?" questions. I would say "No" and still get crap installed without my consent anyway. Got plain sick of it. Ad-Aware (although highly touted here and elsewhere) didn't seem to do wonders for me. Spybot was an improvement, but still, my PC was being a target since I was using IE for all my web browsing. So, I tried Firefox, surfed forever and a day, no pop-ups - NONE. (Sorry SP2, you were just a wee bit too slow in getting here) Not only that, the whole tabbing feature makes much more sense. It keeps you from crowding the task bar with a bunch of windows that eventually merge when you get too many (which is annoying to me - I tend to open a lot of windows). Those 2 features alone - pop-up blocking and tabbing - make Firefox superior, in my opinion. But as you toy with the options in Firefox, you will see that it has a LOT more to offer. Customize to your delight. Add extensions and plug-ins that support the programs you use most, and well, there's just no turning back to IE for me. Sorry Microsoft, you guys should have stopped ZDNet from sending me all those emails that pointed out the IE security flaws which in turn prompted me to try something different. I am now one happy customer. Oh, wait a minute, Firefox is free..... SiMoNsAyS, thanks for the silent delight. I'll be testing that out soon.

Here you go: Norton Professional 2004. Works for Professional and non-professional.

Admins, mods, please don't delete this. I have tried and tried with search. I use batch files for my unattended installation of applications. What command can be used on the apps that I do not need/want a desktop shortcut for? Maybe somebody can provide an example of what it should look like?
-
Sorry also to go off topic, but is Linspire the same as the former Lindows?
-
Well, I haven't stripped mine down, but after seeing Jeremy's, I was inspired to do a reorganization. See what you guys think: My desktop

It appears nobody has discussed this application after running a search. Any help with this one? Thanks.

Need to know if this will work before trying..
Wedge1 replied to Wedge1's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Are you saying that batch_file1 should have a command line at the very end that executes batch_file2? Or are you saying that the winnt.sif can look like this: [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\batch_file1.cmd %systemdrive%\install\batch_file2.cmd -
After I run an unattended install of XP Home SP2 from CD I have a batch file that will install some drivers if I can ever get them all to work. I was wondering if I could run a second batch file that installs my applications from a partition on my hard drive. Currently the drive is designated as H: and I'm wondering if a second batch file could be executed after the first one has completed, just designate the source as starting with H: Should this work or is there a technical reason why it wouldn't?

I think he/she is asking for a bootable image? Incidentally, I didn't know Symantec made Partition Magic

I have ran an -R switch in command prompt (in order to get an iss file) but the install doesn't take place - just a command box staring back at me. Any help is appreciated.

can some1 explain to me how to use autoit?
Wedge1 replied to kurt476's topic in Application Installs
I am not sure if this is what the original poster meant or not, but a quick "how-to" on how make use of these scripts would be nice. -
That would be people like me
-
Oh, ok, sorry. I thought you were also wanting a way to add it back (in addition to learning how to do an unattended install where they are not deleted).

searching for silent install for 3 programs

Well, in that case create shortcuts on your desktop and drag them into the quick-launch tool bar. As for the quick-launch desktop icon: Open Notepad and enter the following text [shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear.
