  1. Not sure how to make it work properly for a silent install...but if you need those icons simply right-click the task-bar, go to "tool bars", then check mark "Quick launch" and the icons will appear.
  2. I am getting nowhere with the search function: "mutilple cds"; "space problem"; "2nd cd"; "creating cds"; "multiple disks" (one hit); "more than one disk"; "disk too small"; and others.. Sorry, just want members to know that I am making a real effort here. How do I make a "key" file in the root of it? I'm not sure what you mean. Edit: This might be what I'm looking for: Linky
  3. I don't have enough room on one CD for all the things I need. Can I create a partition on my hard drive that contains the remaining applications to be installed, then run that as a 2nd batch file under [GuiRunOnce]? If so, would I just replaced %systemdrive% with the drive letter of the partition?
  4. Bump for my last question: Is there a log that I might view to help sort this out?
  5. I should be banned. Here's why: I have been editing the winnt.sif then running VMware. The problem is that I was was editing the XPCD but not creating a new ISO; hence, I was running an emulation on the same image, over and over.... Ok, so now I have successfully ran an unattended installation but I had a few problems with some unattended apps. For a couple of them, the path was wrong and I was able to spot and correct that. But there were others that had problems. Is there a log that I might view to help sort this out? I recall CDex 1.51 asking for a prompt, as well as SpyBot. I'll search for those switches but if anybody knows them right off, please be so kind as to post.
  6. I am trying to do this with XP Home + SP1 slipstreamed. I'm not sure if I am making an error or if the Unattended Guide was strictly written for SP2 and will not work with SP1. [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS UnattendSwitch="yes" WaitForReboot="No" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_chipset;Drivers\001_network;Drivers\002_graphics;Drivers\003_mouse" [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=20 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductID=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX FullName="Wedge1" OrgName="none" ComputerName=performance1300 [Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1152 YResolution=864 Vrefresh=85 [TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 Dialing=Tone [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off hearts=off minesweeper=off pinball=off spider=off zonegames=off [GuiRunOnce] %systemdrive%\install\batch_file1.cmd
  7. So when I save it, it simply becomes a text file?? Just rethinking this as I cannot get the winnt.sif file to work at all. If I don't use quotes, it becomes a text file. It's kind of like Quake configs, if you create a config.cfg file you must use quotes "configname.cfg" for it to save as a .cfg file; otherwise it will become a text file with the name configname.cfg
  8. Thanks B) For future reference, VirtualPC doesn't work with XP Home Edition, as I have just discovered. Edit: And VMware will only let you download a trial version if you consent to the distribution of your personal information to marketers This sucks. Oh well, had to lie.
  9. Is there any free software that will allow testing of a newly-created unattended cd?
  10. I'm now sure if I am supposed to safe it like this: "winnt.sif" or like this: winnt.sif
  11. I've been following the official unattended installation guide at this site. I am new to all of this, so it is a slow process for me but I'm learning. If I mistate something below, please correct me. I will be placing the applications in the C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Install folder. I will have a batch file executed that begins the setup and installation of each program. Will the programs automatically install in the C:\Windows\Program files folder? If I want to designate a different folder, how would I do that?
  12. Hi guys and gals, I was led to this forum when running a search on Norton Anti-Virus 2004 Slipstreaming. This is my first attempt at customizing an XP installation cd, but it appears that everything I need to know can be found here.
