  1. Yes, when did I say I was backing up my C drive to my C drive? LoL, that's just too funny to comprehend... Thanks Zxian, will go there now. Oh, and you are correct, on your last point as well
  2. I have an incremental backup of the C partition to be run on a scheduled basis. What happens when the partition containing the image files becomes full? Do I have to manually delete some of the incremental images that have been created in order to create free space, or does Acronis automatically start overwriting previously created images?
  3. Yes, I really don't need to loop it. I'm the only person who uses this PC. Appreciate your help dman.
  4. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does this mean that any user that is logged on can use the script? i.e., what is the difference in this script vs. the other one already posted?
  5. @echo off copy /Y C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\8loakqo3.default\bookmarks.html "I:\Firefox bookmarks\script test\bookmarks.html" What have i got wrong here?
  6. Can any of you create a script that will automatically export Firefox bookmarks to a destination of my choosing? i.e., I can edit the destination, but I have no idea how to make the actual script. If somebody can create this, I will have a way of scheduling the execution of this script, thus ensuring that my bookmarks will always be backed up in an on-going, hands-free manner. Much appreciation for anybody that can assist in this. I have also posted this question in the Firefox forum, but I figure more expertise on this topic can be found here
  7. SetupYukonWin.exe /S /V"/LIME %WINDIR%\YukonInstall.log REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn" That works for me (for those that still use the SetupYukonWin.exe). Edit: Btw, where do you get the latest driver? At marvel's website I can only seem to find the .inf file.
  8. It's funny to me that advanced users (the type found in this forum) mostly seem to hate Norton AV, yet it is so massively popular in general. So, I'm not sure exactly if Norton is really "good" or not. But I do know it apparently has one of the best marketing campaigns for anti-virus software and the fact that it is often bashed here and elsewhere only helps to advertise it, as ironic as that may seem. 5 years ago I was a novice at the PC. Norton and McAfee were the only AV programs I knew existed and this is true for a LOT of new users because their pc manufacturer included a version of one of the two with the system. I ended up using Norton, and it seems to have worked just fine since I've had no major anti-virus issues. Now I am a bit more advanced, however, and one item in particular comes to mind that I dislike about Norton: it consumes resources beyond what I am willing to tolerate, making the PC sluggish for many tasks as well as extending boot-up time. Now I am trying Trend Micro's PC Cillen simply because it came with my Asus P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard and I must say I enjoy how lightweight it is compared to Norton's AV. My PC is simply faster with PC-Cillen installed. Another difference: updates with PC Cillen are more frequent that Norton (almost daily in fact), and to my understanding, this is probably one of the most critical features one should assess when choosing anti-virus software. Isn't it true that most AV programs are adept at catching problems (virii) but some are much faster at updating the definitions than others? Correct me on that if I'm wrong. That kind of leads right back to my original point for posting. What makes one AV program "better" than another? The average user doesn't really know what to look for in anti-virus software except for "user-friendliness". Unless a virus does slip by, shouldn't the AV software in question be assumed to be "good", be it Norton or MacAfee or whoever? Even now, after using Norton for several years, I'm not convinced it is any worse or better than PC-Cillen or the free AVG or any other anit-virus software. I just know it makes my PC slower. So I am always curious to see what people have to say when they have actually tried different programs long enough to make a fair comparison because I am still trying to figure out what makes one AV program better than another.
  9. Wow, sorry for an extremely late reply, but my email notification isn't working and I'm not sure why. @raza: I will follow your instructions and see what comes of it. Lately I haven't seen that error message. I use PC-Cillen anti-virus on that particular PC and I keep it very up-to-date. Also, I use spybot and it, too, is kept very up-to-date. No scanners or printers are connected to the PC in question. So the firewalls (XP or PC-Cillen) can't be blocking these items. Indexing service is turned on. Should I turn it off? I'm not really sure what this service even does. Fast file searching maybe. If turned on, can anybody else confirm that it could possibly cause this error message on boot-up?
  10. This sometimes happens after boot-up is complete. Any ideas of the cause? Possible solutions?

Great guys, I needed this. My Asus p4p800-e deluxe board uses the Yukon LAN driver. It also came with Virtual Cable Tester. I don't suppose any of you have the switches for that too? Might it be done the same way? =Edit= Just tested it and it worked: start /wait %systemdrive%\Your_Path_Here\SetupVctWin.exe /S /V"/LIME %WINDIR%\VCTInstall.log REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qn"
  12. Ok, as for adjusting how many icons are in a row (3 or 4 or more), don't you just need to unlock the task bar and move the slider over to reveal or hide icons? Sorry if I have misunderstood this issue and my post doesn't apply.
  13. Does anybody have these and the silent switch for it? I need both.
  14. c'mon guys I know Norton Internet Security could be slowing things down, but 15 minutes???? I say do what another member suggested and let us have a look at your msconfig.
  15. Sounds like more than a "need more memory" problem. 15 minutes to load is ridiculous. Is this with a fresh installation of XP SP2? If you have accumulated a lot of thing on your Windows installation it will certainly take a long time to load (assuming you haven't run Diskclean and Defrag in a while). But still, this sounds like a different problem to me. Have you added any new hardware lately? Please give more information if you can.
  16. Thank you for the recommendation. I'll give it a test run. Can you add more about your experience with it? EDIT/ Could you recheck the link you provided? It is timing out on me. EDIT2/ Just googled it, no problem.
  17. I am trying Avast Anti-Virus out for a change. I have always used Norton's but I wanted to try to find something that doesn't slow down the PC as much as Norton AV does. So, I turned to freeware. I scanned my entire system after installing Avast last night and all was well. This evening I try to connect to my Home network (LAN) and the silent installation executable of Firefox (that simon was so generous to create for us) is suddenly being recognized as the following trojan: Win32:Trojan-gen. {UPX!} Can anybody explain this to me? Avast is recommending that I "move to chest".
  18. Bumpie.... Still looking for an answer on this one. Could an Obi Wan help please?
  19. lilweirddude, are you using the latest video drivers? EDIT: sorry, just reread the thread.
  20. Is the keyboard wireless? Is it connected to a KVM switch?
  21. Using EAC in "seure mode" is what sets it apart from other rippers. It will read and re-read the cd until it gets it right.....unless the cd is just waaaay beyond repair. And it will tell exact where errors occur, if any exist. From the author Read the entire post here.
