  1. things are going well. I think that people who have the beta can keep using it. others waiting for private betas, can wait, since I want lots of hardware support, and so do users, private betas are gonna work beta for now. A public beta, will be available when its ready for everyone. I hope users can userstand waiting, since its to add more usability, security and speed to a public version, and private betas.
  2. my screen resolutions are 1360X768 or 1400X1050 , and so on.
  3. that tweak, borked the drivers , for nvidia 81.95 drivers on a sli setup. havn't tested further, just thought you'd like to know, it would , make the driver not appear under display settings, (all the nvidia stuff) would force 16 bit mode stop me from doing my monitors native resolution when switching back to 32 bit mode. maybe, that is a new tweak? that only works in newer drivers?
  4. yah, I am still trying for 2.8.
  5. its coming. I am debating a public beta, instead of a private beta 2.5. I am tryin to add printer/scanner/webcam/camera support and dns/dhcp to beta 2.5. (optional obviously) and tryin to meet requests for IE7 (doubt it will happen though) and many other software. with beta 2.0 many people already seen what they are in for, got an idea of howto make patches in many cases, and so on. dont exactly know when, the next beta will be out, but its coming along, nicly. what you can look forward to, in the public beta. smaller build sizes, nvidia (official) and ati (official) driver shrinking. registry patching stage 1 dns/dhcp support (for those w/o fixed ip addresses, or who dont want to set it up manually. multi processor support (dual core users) usb audio support (for usb headsets) gaming controller support. and things you havn't seen b4, and only testing will show yah. printer support, to meet the request, for using this project for word processing boxes for poor. (remember, your request for this, has to be taken up with nuhi b4 all else.
  6. sorry for double post, but figured no one would know I posted otherwise. I got my cpu upto 2.75 with a little bit of tweaking and burn-ins on the cpu. hoping to get 2.8 but, getting there, will take time it seems, almost at the 1Ghz oc mark now
  7. hahah, i guess I heard wrong maybe I should google too, no I make other look foolish ...
  8. they demo xp-e dont think yah need to goto class to get it
  9. good stuff, still many held back, by something mmx made, lol, cause wasn't mmx just another name for 64 bit lol, cant wait for a SSE3 windows xp or something now. haha
  10. does xpge support the 3dmark series? how about 06? just curious, I know your x64 only or something now? anyway for x64 size, your doing good arn't yah
  11. I am on the 9X multi, I cant even get 20Mhz more atm, maybe a new bios will fix it, maybe just some quality burn-ins ...
  12. vmware dual core works too in xp home ...
  13. yah, tried 2.7 got the memory stable as .... and still no go no volts on anything mad any difference, I am pretty sure I got the max OC I will try burn-ins, but not yet, i got other stuff to do.
  14. first post is contracting the title Norton is by far the worst AV on the planet, not just in terms of virus finding, but it makes your system utterly useless once its installed. you missed sygate, the best free firewall out there ... also, what ever happend to nod32 AV? and kapersky (same company) nod32 is the most award winning AV on the planet, and is alot cheaper than norton ... also, its fast, uses very little resources. lots of great firewall software out there too, like agnitum outpost pro. (my fav) biggest problem with hardware firewalls. they arn't easy to setup, sure they will last longer in a dos attack, but really, the hassles, are large, and when you make it easy for outgoing connections, if you get a trogram horse, your not blocking it from sending stuff, just like phone home adware/spyware. which is why software firewalls are great, they tell you what app is trying to access where. great spyware program for IE users, spybot s&d once installed, uses 0 resources, and never is in memory, but stop most spyware from even installing in the first place. want to be really safe from spyware ,stop using internet explorer use firefox or opera, they are good for now.
  15. thanks, just thought I'd show ppl, what you can even expect to run microwinX on.
  16. ok no use aguing back and forth with "Microsoft papers" I did the testing xp home does load balencing by default works on dual cores by default ( no changin HAL needed) xp home also, is licenced for this and all SMP programs work just fine in xp home. @teqguy "Gdogg, I just explained what is actually going on within Windows and why one would go with the licensing of Professional vs Home.... and yet you went and said exactly the opposite of what I said... without giving any reason as to why your reasoning is true. It's virtually IMPOSSIBLE for your processor to be devoting 50% of each core's resources to one task, because load balancing does not divide the process in half... it just sets the core or thread affinity to one processor, and then sets the affinity of any other processes to the other processor." since you are extremly confused about dual core, xp home and how it all actually works. Unlike what is written on paper. I suggest you get yourself a dual core processor.
  17. @teqguy ok, here is what I dont understand, I have a dual core 165 , @ 2.6 right FX 60 speeds. I am just telling you what is going on, prime 95, uses 100% of a cpu, xp home oem sp2, naturally uses, affinity to both processors all on its own. using prime95 once, you get 50/50 instead of 100% usage of one, unless you up prime95 affinity to just , proc 0 or proc 1 so, yes, windows xp does support load balacing and smp from all my testing. SMP in 7-zip called dual threads. when encoding use 100% of both cpu, w/o user intervention. warcraft 3, loading, using 99% of the cpu, uses it between both wmp10 uses both too, 2% of each load balanching in xp home sp2, yes, licenced in xp home, yes, you allowed quad core if you want ... only alloweed 1 processor (this changed back in 2004/5 when HT was promient, b4 then , you needed a dual cpu licenced mce 2004, just for HT. smp in xp home sp2, yes, its there, it works, and well, guess the answer to your question, yes, your just getting you customers to buy more expensive windows w/o reason
  18. just using an nlite windows atm havn't got around to installin microwinX on this computer yet just never left WMI its bloated, as nuhi put it. basically like nuhi said, I will never leave WMI in my windows, maybe dual boot to a windows with it, just not one I used for gaming.
  19. 261 is 522 it wont even do 2630 2610 is as far as it goes the bios on the expert boards suck, honestly, only the origional bios works over 3.3V memory, all the updates dont. until they fix these probs, I cant do much, if its bios related
  20. my windows dont support it, will get a full ver of windows on here, soon, to do 3dmark06 and sisoft 2005 scores
  21. xp home naturally uses a piece of each core at once, when using 100% of a cpu, taskmanager shows it as, 50% of each processor. and, about smp support ... I tested that too, 7zip, with smp, uses 100% of both cpus, when encoding
  22. same as I said b4, 290X9 on a 9/10 for the memory so, 2610MHZ idle 27 load 43 load after 10 hours of prime95 48
  23. yah 1GB ddr 2-2-2-6 xp 4000, ddr 500 I got it at 522 2-2-2-5 for now, gonna work it into 2220 when I am done, it boots, but I am scared to use it for now lol got it in the orange slots, they give better bandwich with my memory I am getting slightly over 13K in 3dmark05
  24. i got 2 evaga 7800 gt co's I volt moded them they are already great, 570/1.1 now I got 585/1.7 I think it could be because I am using sli ... stock coolers there, they are LOUD, during boot up, but quiet, as soon as windows starts, but then again, they still the loudest things in my system, even more so than a 120MM 89CFM fan at full.
