honestly, I just posted to wake the thread, cause mine got woke, and thats normally how it goes anyway. I know aegis is gonna be shrinking it down, and basically I was curious because microwinX supports xpe, and thus xpge. and if he chooses not to get back to below the 37MB \windows mark w/o drivers, then it might be benificial to give me a beta test, to get it ready for microwinX beta 3.5 release.
-
beta 2.5 testers, are already choosen, but public beta which is 3.0, is only gonna be a couple of days after. beta 2.0 isn't around no more, only ppl who have it currently can use it. its been leak, which was against the TOS when they agreed to get the beta. So for now, no more users can be in private beta, then the few I have chosen.
-
not yet. but in a few weeks it will be released
-
yah, that .ini in the first post, is old, back when 2.0 was out, thats why it was left there, until it gets changed to the microwinx nlite addon pack. every microwinX, gets updated, or setup for the most recent nlite's

hey aegis. yah, dont neglect your class/homework. cause thats whats really gonna make something for you in the long tormented jorney of life. but on topic. have you managed to reduce file size yet? or is that a l8r move?
-
@tomrf , I figure you and the 70,000 views of this thread are intisipating this project to become public. @SLM well thanks. I found that windows like this, might just bring back many linux users, for soft/game support, that windows has, along with the hopefuly (maybe wishful, but who knows, til testing proves otherwise) security like linux (maybe better cant prove otherwise til public right?)

@dirtwarrior compressesor are the best computer cooling on the market today but cause condensation peltier are similar to air cons, with a hot plate on one side, and a cold plate on the other , but condensation. air conditioners, cause condensation too, if anything, cool the room that the computer is in. @ripken I got the memory mushkin stoped making. the mushkin redline xp 4000 2X512MB kit , ddr 500 2-2-2-6 3.3v-3.5v volts. that my problem now lol. the board, which should always have the 4V jumper on, cause its built into the bios, isn't working, and I cant get over 3.19V on dfi-street, they kept moving my threads to the amd overclocking section, so, I was unable to get an expert to give me so advice on howto fix it. also, dfi-street, is too busy it seems, to get any response to all the dfi nf4 expert issues (no wonder its cheaper than the older dfi nf4 sli-dr now) the expert board is extremly neglected, not only do none of the bios' after first rls, work with over 3.3V (wont even post to bios) but, they just made a venus board, which is the same thing, but aluminum capasitors and $100 more expensive, so I grabed the bios from that, and now all my network timeout issues, when I get email are gone. but the 3.19V problem isn't.

tomrf I figure oracle 9i will be as easy as dl'in the missin .dlls
-
spazmire, slight errors. like the above one, will be worked out, as a per user , per program basis, if that user really requires such apps. that error above, should be very easy to fix, with just a couple of files. anyway, thanks for testing spazmire.

yah, well that is very dissapointing, that a person who agrees not to share it, goes and shares it. guess I should just keep betas to users I can trust.
-
thx vci, its support from users that keeps projects like this going. I hope microwinX beta 2 , has shown you what its capable of and that you got your programs working. beta 2.5-3.0 , will be about program support, easy enough that maybe your parents could figure it out too. thats the point of microwinX, stopin users from makin mistakes, and keeping the computer up, and going fast, easy all the time. and all at the smallest size, I personally have seen. if anyone with beta 2.0, knows whats required for what programs, before beta 2.5-3.0. This will add software support for the public release better, be sure to share. just send me a private message, and ill give yah, msn, aol, or irq.
-
thx ripken hope to get a nice boost, once I get my board back, (doesn't do over 3.19V on vdimm anymore, rma'n)
-
ohhh, I see what your saying. so , i'd level off the bracket to make up for no IHS, like shown in many guides on dfi-street. then do as you said there?
-
I have some samsung spinpoint, my first drive on my 4 drive sata II raid, gets 205MB /S , I find these drives great, just add a jumper for sata I , I am sure these things are just as fast in sata I mode.
-
hey ripken, you mean and then just use screws or something? I was thinking about, a custom kit, swiftech appogee, 2 5.25 bay res, 3 120mm fan rad, a 330gph pump, and that stuff, that when hit a video card, just made a mess of it, not killed. oh and a couple of danger den 78 series coolers for cpu and mem
-
so, I guess i'd be better off, just getting water cooling? cause this might condensate also?
-
the game simply doesn't use the memory. when games get loaded into memory, other things get paged.
-
yah, when ocz phase change comes out, ill look at that. I wonder if ocz, has condensation in mind, with there designs

yah, mine was a opteron 165 @ FX 60 mushkin redline ddr 500 2-2-2-6 4 samsung spinpoint 250GB in raid 0 2 evga 7800 gt co's in sli thermalright si-120 cooling it for now -
aegis , very true, microwinX gets 8sec on an ata 100 8MB cache drive. I play on using microwinX on this, so windows will be about 50MB , so , I think ill get a 2gb for the ram drive at first, add 2 gb later, and use one for booting windows on, and a page file, and older games, that are about 3GB
-
yah, I figured for paging file it would be good, 2GB of ram limits your oc too much, for my comfort. lol
-
Well I am probbally getting an Iram, with 1GB at first, probally will use it for a paging file. then get the other 3GB , and then maybe a second one and raid them together. That way i can install windows, pagefile, temp files, and a game. any other uses, anyone can think of that, would benifit from a ramdrive?

where i'd be buying it. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...oolIT%20Systems reviews http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,1937683,00.asp http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-327-1.htm http://www.extrememhz.com/freezone-p1.shtml I am gonna need a new heatsink anyway, due to the fact, I want to remove the IHS off my cpu, and that will make it so I cant use the clip designed coolers, like my si-120. I want 3.0 ghz on my opteron 165 , it can do a 2.8 ghz stable atm, but, I wanna see how far I can push it with, IHS off. you guys think this cooler will do the trick, better than a $300 water cooling kit?

well, I got some pictures of my computer, 4 all to look @. http://img204.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=onmydesk1cm.jpg -
basically, for high end gaming. CS Source maxed as example you'll want, a 7900 gt for the $300 range. like this this will give you 7800 gtx performance @ cheap. evga is the best warranty you can get now. lifetime (even more overclocking on it). basically bios changing, doesn't void there warranties, according to there wording. I personally have 2 7800 gt's, when using that kind of power, under fx 60, its still the processor holding you back. but if you have an old computer, your alway held back, I found similar fps, in an overclocked 754 w/ 9800 pro vs a 462 mobile 2500+ oc with x1800xl.
