  1. I can see your screenshot in the June Desktops thread just fine... Only an hour between posts? Give it a little bit more time and people will help you out.
  2. Finally... made a new screenie! VS: RoyalFour Wall: Mandy Moore (from skins.be) Icons: Various - PM me for details
  3. I'll have to post a new screenie tonight... I found a great new wall... of course, I'll be playing DI.fm... probably Chillout.
  4. Yep, that's how it works. It basically means that they can handle 2.0, but they'll run at whatever speed the board they're hooked up to works at.
  5. @DKasler: Nice desktops! Good to know that there's someone else here who listens to DI - Vocal Trance! :D
  6. Daemon tools... much easier to use and setup.
  7. Haha... this reminds me of an article I found a while back... A parent's primer to computer slang

    Computer slow?

The hardware has the potential to run quite quickly... if the system is clean. Have you checked your computer for viruses? Malware? other crap that's bogging it down? Have a look in the Malware Prevention section of the forum for more info. They'll probably be able to help you out more.
  9. Are you just using the default hotkey settings? Have you tried setting the keys manually? What about remapping the keys? Can you set the "Next" key to act as "Play/Pause" for example? Just for a test.

    Doom movie

Hehe... I just downloaded a speedrun of Doom2... 31mins! Pretty crazy. We'll have to see if The Rock runs as fast as this guy.
  11. Why don't you download the free trial of Win2K3 from Microsoft? That way you're not spending your money on something until you know you like it. (If you're willing to shell out lots of money... )
  12. The easiest way to do this is to get IconPackager from StarDock. Otherwise, you have to dig in the registry for what you want. For each file extension, you have to select the file where the icon is located.
  13. If you look in the taskbar, there's an app called FTP Expert. It's got the same icon as the window in question.

    World jump day

As for the tsunami... there was far more water moved there than there will be people... As for colliding with the moon... it would still orbit around us. The orbit may no longer be circular (or roughly circular) and be highly elliptical if the change in Earth's orbit occurred quickly enough, but if that happened, then we'd be pretty screwed anyways, since our orbit would be highly elliptical... meaning we'd get seasons of extreme heat and cold. We seriously don't want to be messing with the earth's orbit...
  15. Hi there, I'm just wondering... (if it's not too difficult)... if the "Edited by" tag would appear only if you've edited the post after a certain period of time, or if the post is no longer the latest? Sometime's I'll post something manually entering tags for bold/italics/urls, and then find that I've forgotten to close a tag or something similar, so I have to go back and edit it (all within a minute). Thanks!
  16. That would have removed the context menu altogether, which is something he didn't want.
  17. Thanks for the updates! The print setting is a nice find! As for the "File Manager" extension, I'll have to see if I can play with Visual C++ a bit to get what you want. It shouldn't be that hard once I've got the basics sorted out. I don't know how much time I'll have for this though...
  18. Since we know the ratios of the sides, we can use Pythagoras' Theorem to solve this problem (Google for more info). From here... (16x)^2 + (10x)^2 = (15.4)^2 196x^2 + 100x^2 = 237.16 296x^2 = 237.16 x^2 = 0.80122 x = 0.8951 With that, we simply put these back into the corresponding side lengths from our diagram: 16x = 14.3 10x = 8.95 Since the original measurement of the diagonal was in inches, these numbers are also in inches. Multiply them by 2.54 to get them into cm. Hope this helps!
  19. It's the LCD that came with my laptop (Compaq). Generally, if you don't have any dead pixels from the start, you won't get any for a good long while. Just don't press on the screen and the pixels will love you.
  20. Bah.... why does someone always use the argument that there are only viruses written for Windows? It's the case because it's the biggest. Who would want to disrupt the tiny market share who use Linux when they could take out over 90% of computer users? The bigger the target, the more attacks you'll see on it. Take a look at what's happening to Firefox and you'll get what'll happen to Linux if it gets to be as mainstream.

    World jump day

Man... some people really need to get things into perspective. 600,000,000 people * 80kg/person (yes, they're all fat people) = 4.8 x 10^10 kg Mass of earth = 5.98 x 10^24 kg We're not gonna make a change here people...lmao....
  22. Best place to start learning how to drive is the country. Less obstacles, less hazards to you and others. Once the driver is comfortable with handling the car (i.e. has a feel for the controls), then move on to the city. It's a big change having to deal with traffic and stupid, unpredictable drivers... Oh... and always, always, always shoulder-check!!!! I can't stand it when people just move lanes right into you...
  23. I've heard that sometimes when you spread the paste, it just becomes a mess all over the CPU...by just putting a bead and then gently rotating it while pressing, it spreads the paste more evenly. Any thoughts on this?
  24. Very useful... 1.5 years down the road and none of my 1,024,000 pixels are dead! :D Thanks!
  25. I think there's some confusion here. ripken204, if your resolution is 1280x800 then you have a proper 16:10 aspect ratio widescreen display. For the actual dimensions, you can figure them out with some simple math. If you want, I can probably post up my work, but the end result is that the screen would be W: 36.4cm = 14.3 in H: 22.7cm = 8.95 in As for the resolution, it depends on what you buy. WXGA is specified to be 1280x800, which I find the most comfortable for reading. Anything higher than that and you start having to strain to read text. I've got a 17" CRT monitor as well set to 1280x960 and I have no troubles going from one screen to the other.
