  1. Daemon Tools.
  2. Whatever you do, don't format the disk! (I'm sure you knew that already) Have you tried any partition or data recovery software?
  3. Microsoft PowerToys Specifically the HTML Slide Show Wizard. Does that do what you want? or were you actually talking about an online video show?
  4. Well... the Bit Torrent network is a P2P network. uTorrent is just a client program that allows you to connect to the torrents that are out there. DHT simply de-centralizes the network, so there's no one server that anyone can target/attack.
  5. Ok.. I lied. I said I wouldn't do my laptop again, but it's changed a bit... and I love it. Clean Dirty VS - Sentinel by ChaNinja (slight mod - not to be released, don't have permission) Wallpaper - Ripped from someone elses screenshot over at Samurize.com Icons - Elements Icons (from deviantArt) AveDesk 1.3 with working FTP desklet (that's what's below the Winamp desklet) Winamp skin - Multipass Any other questions just ask. P.S. - I'd rather that my desktop be a finalist, before any one suggests this. My laptop already won last month, so I should enter something else.
  6. No you don't need to repackage it... but my silent installer is a whole 10KB smaller than the original!!! Thanks for the silent switch. You might wanna post that in the Applications Installs section for other members.
  7. DHT means that there's no tracker controlling the torrent. It basically allows all the users to connect to each other instead of via a central computer (that could potentially be shutdown).
  8. I haven't heard of any conflicts between the two versions. I have heard of people using only .NET 2.0 and running into problems... but then again, I'm not the be-all-and-end-all of info. Anyways... I made a new installer for English only. It's a bit smaller than the full version, so for those people who need to squeeze every KB out of their UA CDs, this is for you. I've tested it myself without any errors, but as always, let me know if you find any. .NET Framework 2.0 Silent Installer - English Only - 22.3 MB Enjoy!
  9. Shaggy, you get a Scooby snack! That works like a charm and gives me just what I want. Thanks. Haha.... Thanks Shaggy! Another thing learned today!
  10. Hahha.... nice. I'm so glad I don't have one of those chairs... my a** would be riddled with holes by now...
  11. Did you read my post at all? I'm guessing 90% of the time you can find the silent install switches either by looking at the type of installer (and a bit of searching), or by running the installer with a /? switch. If you did that, you'd see a window like this: Either that or you can extract the contents and run the install.exe from there (repeat process to find the switch ). Or... you can find my switchless installer. Look in the Technology News section.
  12. You can do the administrative install, but you'll end up with a file that's larger than the original. Also... try running the installer from a command line with the /q switch. Sometimes it'll find you what you're looking for.
  13. Eraser
  14. Interesting... *evil laugh* You learn something new everyday. Thanks evilvoice! You can stick with it for now. There will be apps released in the future that will require .NET 2.0 (Notebook Hardware Control is one of them that needs it right now). Hehe...
  15. You'll probably need both. .NET 1.1 and 2.0 are different frameworks (don't ask me why). I've heard of people running into troubles with just 2.0 installed. I don't have IExpress... just 7-zip.
  16. I never said I spit on my CDs... It's mostly just water vapour that then condenses on the CD.
  17. Why him? I've got a silent switchless in the works... EDIT - And... completed!!! .NET Framework 2.0 Silent - 22.5MB Let me know if you have any problems with it!
  18. Try using apt-get instead of downloading if at all possible. If you need to download and Ubuntu isn't available, try the Debian packages. It's not guaranteed to work, but it's your best bet. Not too sure about iTunes replacement...
  19. Man... I've been beta testing 1.3 for a while now, and I've gotta say that the Final is much better than any beta I had. Now... if I can only get this FTP drop to work... *runs to chat with Ave*
  20. Not to start any flamewars... but ever wonder why there's so much anti-americanism in the world? World's longest sniper kill - Canadian Soldier in Afghanistan. 2,430 metres (7,972 ft) - That's over 1.5 miles!!! (Read) The only reason your space agency has been able to do anything interesting in space recently - the Canadarm. Made by MacDonald Detwieler, a Canadian company. World's leader in Hydrogen Fuel Cell techonology - Ballard Power Systems. Located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Unemployment rates? A whopping 1% above the USA... oh wait a sec... the unemployment rate has been dropping in Canada over the past 10 years, while in the State's it's been fairly constant. Which government has been doing more about this? Not to mention that this has absolutely nothing to do with our military... you're making points that have no connections. Vancouver [, Canada] is 'best place to live' - Notice how 3 Canadian cities are on the top 10 list, while there are no American cities? I think it speaks for itself. I could go on for a while here, but that list should at least get you to think twice before bad-mouthing your nearest neighbour (not to mention the whole softwood lumber issue, which has more countries than just Canada worried). Sorry that I wasn't brought up in a country that spends most of its tax income on the military... Final Note - I'm usually not an anti-american zealot, but I will slam back those high-nosed Americans who feel that they are "better" because of their superior army. Sorry to say, there's been heaps of proof as of late that the USA has more problems than most people are willing to admit (anyone who's followed international news will know what I'm talking about). Can a mod please close this before it gets out of hand? It's already starting to get off topic and it'll only get worse...
  21. Thanks for the update, but this should be in Technology News...
  22. Seconded!!!
  23. It may be intergrated, but it gives horrible compression ratios. I used their "7-zip" compression, and it came out larger than WinRAR. Agreed. For my day-to-day archiving I use WinRAR. For those archives or silent installers I use 7-zip to get the highest compression.
  24. I'll add another vote for Ubuntu. Not only is it relatively simple to set up, but the help on the forums is outstanding. www.ubuntuforums.org Chances are you'll find more help there than here. Just search and you'll probably find what you want.
  25. AFAIK, you can't. The files other than the .7z files (7zS.sfx, config.txt) are included in the executable, and not part of the archive that is extracted. That's why when you extract the archive, you only get the contents of the 7-zip file.
