Well no guys, it's not Pale Moon developers kissing MS-heinie. It's that if they want their product to have a future and cater to new technologies, supporting XP (or any Windows NT 5.x variant) will hold them back. I would agree that for now Google Chrome could have kept running on XP and Vista, and Pale Moon's v26.x releases will keep supporting XP for the time being. But this isn't some conspiracy theory. If you want to be a profitable business, and stay in the business of selling new operating systems, why would you want every one staying on XP? Why? How would you ever make money that way? Besides, computing is changing now. XP and desktop OS systems represent computing up to 2011 roughly. Now mobile computing is where it's at. Windows needs to go places that are different than what XP or 2000 gave us. PC experts and fans will still compute this way, but that market is shrinking, and is not where the future is. Computing is getting end-users to install apps and companies making money by their customers and prospects using these apps. You and I are not part of that mainstream. READ THE NEXT PART VERY CAREFULLY .... Yes, I don't have a smart phone myself, and Windows is my main computing platform - HOWEVER - I do not delude myself into thinking I'm part of that mainstream. Being a lifelong record collector, it was like it was back in 1995, when I was searching out "Jagged Little Pill" by Alanis Morrissette on an LP, I knew I was in for a daunting search. After several months, I found a German-pressed import LP, and I felt lucky. But IN NO WAY did I convince myself ever that this was how music existed in the 90s. Compact discs were where it was at. I was not part of the mainstream, and at that time, I was going against the tide of acceptance. And so are Windows desktop users.

And Moonchild has stipulated NO EXCEPTIONS will be made for XP support this time around. So no XP support of any kind once v27 hits.

Oh wow, the .NET update appeared in this month's bulletin list. They may have been updating pages a lot while I was trying to download the updates. Well, feel free to double-check my work. I hope I did correctly this time around.

Well there was one for .NET v3.5 and there was a Flash update. (KB3157993)

OK so June's Patch Tuesday is here. It appears that I was navigating the security bulletin pages as they were being updated. But here's what I got: OS Critical and Important Updates KB3157569, KB3160352, KB3161561, KB3161664, KB3161949, KB3161958, KB3164033, KB3164035 PDF Reader (already installed) KB3157569 .NET 3.5 KB3142025 IE10 KB3160005 Abode Flash Player KB3157993 So how did I do? The updates did install (except that I do not have .NET 3.5, so that was not installed). The PDF Reader updates cites that I've already installed it. I'll have to search this thread after posting it. ***** NEVER MIND ***** I see the duplication ...lol. See the first update?

I can imagine the conversation in the boardroom when they came up with this idea: "We need to drop this subject ... PERIOD!"

Good to see the positive reaction to Pale Moon. I've been a user for two years. Still the deprecation of plugins and XUL may be an issue for developers of other Gecko based browsers (yes, I know that Pale Moon is now Goanna, but it's all the same... lol). Seamonkey and K-Meleon's future may be impacted.

All installed! Yay! So there's four months of updates I should never have had.

I made the switch to Ashampoo Office 2010 (made by Softmaker). It has a conventional style interface, plus it's docx/xlsx compatible, and it has a handy PDF writer.

I can't find it on that link. The old one says it's downloading but it doesn't. Also, I take it that you've done something similar for Windows 2000? Is that right?

Has Blackwingcat removed this WindowsXP-KB2584577-v0.4-x86-ENU.exe file? It does not seem to download any more.

Well I removed IE 10 using the DSIM features command (similar to Add/Remove Features) I did install the Adobe Flash Player prior to that, and I still install the April IE10 and Flash updates. But now I just use the Firefox flash build being used on Pale Moon. I was really just saying that I didn't reinstall the February flash update.

Please Stefan, if you ever see other updates missing, let me know. A good eye you have there.

KB3134214 is not applicable to my system. Whadda ya know?

I cannot speak as to why I did not include those updates. I think I was forgetful or didn't look hard enough, to be honest. I installed all of them except the Adobe updates ... rebooting. (two of them did not require restarts)

So what does this "update" actually do? What does it change? Is there some comprehensive documentation somewhere? I didn't see any on the original site.

I wonder when the shoe drops for Windows Server 2003. I use the Vista/7 installer on it, and it's still works thankfully, but with the 4.4.304.0 build too.
