The normal boot screen is back but the 80% problem persists. Interestingly, when /SOS is enabled the progress bar goes up to 100% but after that monitor goes off as usually.

SATA to IDE adapters: which/what/why?
tomasz86 replied to dencorso's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I connected a 5200 rpm SATA drive to my notebook using the adapter I mentioned before and it's detected in BIOS although its size isn't reported correctly. I guess the BIOS can detect only up to 160 GB (the drive itself has 250 GB). I'm still very happy that it works I still need to do some benchmarks and tests but I think the idea of putting an SSD into this laptop is not that far from reality as I initially thought. -
Do you experience these problems only when using WMP10?
-
You should be very careful when using KDW wrapper. In case of using XP's system dll's "Ez Install" seems to be the safest way as it doesn't modify the registry.
-
First of all, without /SOS there's no normal boot screen. It's just a dark blue progress bar on a black background so I can't really say if it's 80% or 100% but still monitors goes off at the similar moment.
-
Thank you, MacLover It still doesn't work but the situation is different now. I can see a GUI part of /SOS boot and the progress bar goes up to around 80% and then monitor goes off.

The problem remains I also have one question about update.ver files. What exactly does this value stand for? msi.dll=D41E5FFFFFD2E47C638B63C5DDB41248,000400051772575A,4446720,850295E5 The rest is like this: msi.dll=MD5,file version+?,file size,CRC32

Still the same issue.

How to merge two text files?
tomasz86 replied to tomasz86's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
Well, after doing more tests I can say that it's not your script which is messing things up but yanklines.vbs script which I use to remove duplicates from files in SPLIT_* folder. When I have encoding for non-Unicode programs set to English or Polish, there are no problems but when I change to Korean it gets messed up. Shall I still upload the files? -
I managed to install Windows 7 using a clean source without any updates integrated. I don't know what exactly what causing that BSOD but it works nevertheless. Surprisingly it's quite usable even though it's just a Pentium III (Tualatin). On the other hand I also tried installing Windows 8 Developer Preview and it worked terribly slow.
-
WildBill, I have bad news. It's the same issue as before. With /SOS enabled it goes up to acpitabl.dat and then screen goes off. Without /SOS boot screen doesn't even show up.
-
That's why I said that you could skip the language pack part. You have to integrate both IE9 & updates, vLite will say and after restarting you should integrate IE9 once again, this time without any updates.
-
You're right about WPF. In case of XPS and WIC, it seems that BlackWingCat has got it work with his wrapper. I guess you've already tried BlackWingCat's .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. EDIT Only one function is needed for Java 7: shell32.dll -> SHGetFolderPathEx It still works without it but there's an error in Event Viewer: I'm not sure how it is related to Java but still after doing a test I can say for sure that it's directly caused by the new version of Java.
-
MacLover, .NET Framework 3.0 & 3.5 (except for XPS and WIC?) already run in Win2k without any kernel patches and newest DX9.0c works well with BlackWingCat's kernel v5. In case of .NET 3.x it's only the installer that doesn't support Win2k.
-
I believe its the language pack that you have to unpack to get the cab file.
-
This is an instruction that someone wrote on a Polish board: Translated by Google: It basically says that you have to integrate IE9 twice but the updates for it only once. You can skip the language pack part.

Installing Windows 2000 from USB flash disk?
tomasz86 replied to tomasz86's topic in Install Windows from USB
Actually my system is pretty unstable at the moment so this problem may not be necessary related to the RMPREPUSB. I guess I need to a clean installation. I'll see if RMPREPUSB works after doing so. -
There's a BSOD related to ntoskrnl.exe before bootscreen is loaded. Is the checksum correct?

Installing Windows 2000 from USB flash disk?
tomasz86 replied to tomasz86's topic in Install Windows from USB
I'd prefer to run it in Windows 2000 if possible. I tried WinSetupFromUSB but I get this when trying to format the drive: -
How to merge two text files?
tomasz86 replied to tomasz86's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
It'd have to be done for each language separately then Isn't it possible to set a "fixed" codepage? -
I'd like to install Windows 2000 from USB flash disk. I've tried many different programs described here but they either don't support Windows 2000 source, don't run in Windows 2000 or even if I finally manage to transfer the source to the flash disk, there are always errors during text setup. Is there any program that you can say for sure that it supports Windows 2000?

jaclaz, There is a problem with your script when system unicode code page is set to different languages, ex. if I set it to Korean and run your script I get this: ?kbid -> ?##쬴bid &Send -> ?#쬢end US & Canada -> US ?#?Canada < -> ?###? etc. -
Theoretically you can easily port many Windows 2003 updates to XP so there'll be unofficial updates available until at least 2015. 14/07/2015 is the Extended Support End Date for Windows 2003 Server which will be the last of the NT 5.x systems to leave the scene.
-
By the way, WildBill, how do you create update.ver files? Do you just write them manually or do you have a script to do it automatically?

Last Versions of Software for Windows 2000
tomasz86 replied to thirteenth's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
By the way, Do you (or anyone else) have any idea what is the cause of this problem related to unaccessible audio device? I managed to install and run Skype 5.6 with the following set of dlls but still audio devices are unaccessible This is what Skype's changelog says about changes in 5.3.0.113: I guess the first one is more important and may be related to the audio device error.
