Installed it 2 days ago, the the next day the PC stoppped responding after the monitor standby feature kicked in after 15mins of idling. Modem went offline and the monitor wouldn't come out of standby. I generally find that slipstreaming the service packs to CD and starting afresh naturally works much better than upgrading over an old service pack on the system.

We've decided to wait until we upgrade the boards to v1.2 final (which should be released in a matter of days, or a week). Then we will use the newly provided RSS/XML feed that comes with IPB 1.2 to create a forum klip.

Yeah I heard that the steps for doing a silent install of WinRAR was a bit complicated, and required a lot of registry importing. Doesn't hurt to install Winrar manually though, which only takes 5 secs

Open up Task Manager and click on the Performance tab. Then choose a visualization that makes the sound choppy... is the CPU usage at 100%? Some of the WMP9 visualisations are a big CPU resource hog, and your 350MHz is probably not powerful enough to cope with the load, this is what makes the sound choppy.

Yeah its complex, but you get brilliant quality out of using seperate tools which Gordian Knot controls. There are some wizard based commercial apps that simplify the whole process, but they give out very bad quality video

Did you perform an upgrade to XP from Windows ME? Upgrades tends to leave a lot of crap behind unfortunately. If you can, do a clean install. Otherwise fully defrag your drives and get yourself a copy of BootVis from Microsoft. Its a Microsoft tool that runs a test on your system and optimizes its startup speed. You'll need to run the test twice, then after that, load the second BIN file in BootVis which was created by BootVis and placed into the folder where BootVis.exe exists, then lastly choose to Optimize. http://www.microsoft.com/hwdev/platform/pe...oot/BootVis.asp

Have you installed a Background/Wallpaper Switcher type of powertoy recently?

You will have to rip your DVD and encode it to DivX or XViD. The best place to start would probably be to get yourself a copy of Gordian Knot (ppl say its the best package of multi-tools to make a DivX). And then follow the guides they have on there for using Gordian Knot and DivX Pro. I have no knowledge for making XViDs however, its pretty much new, and its widely used in the *ahem*... movie warez scene.
