Do you leave your modem off when you boot up XP? XP (may) have a similar problem to Win2k, where it doesn't load the drivers for the modem if the modem is off. Either: Leave it on during boot-up process. Or, switch on modem, and go to Device Manager - there is no need to reinstall drivers, just right click on your computer name and select "Scan for hardware changes"

Maurice provides this (info at sharereactor.com) If you download the edonkey client and expect to connect, then you will fail, because the servers are out of date! Downloading something that's not well spread will be very hard to download, and slow too, since there are not a lot of users with the file who can upload to you.
