  1. Do you leave your modem off when you boot up XP? XP (may) have a similar problem to Win2k, where it doesn't load the drivers for the modem if the modem is off. Either: Leave it on during boot-up process. Or, switch on modem, and go to Device Manager - there is no need to reinstall drivers, just right click on your computer name and select "Scan for hardware changes"
  2. Others *are* sharing, its forced sharing on the file you're downloading.
  3. Change to a different theme, then change back to your own one.
  4. Its doing over 1300Kbytes/sec upload!
  5. My PC is also left on 24/7, and I never shut it down unless there's a thunderstorm (mostly in the hot summer). I do a reboot on my win2k OS every week or so for software updates. You'll do more harm to your PC if you keep shutting down and switching on your PC every single day. Just tell Windows to put your [b:ac99fb82a7]Monitor[/b:ac99fb82a7] on standby if its not in use for 5-10 mins. That uses up a lot of power anyway. Don't bother with the other power saving features (shutting down hard drives is risky, and standby mode sometimes never recovers)
  6. thanks! I'll make my BSOD a pulsating red so that I can fall off my seat when I see one. lol
  7. http://www.dvdripguides.com/index.asp http://dvd.box.sk software I've heard thats good: DVNeo - Wizard step by step ripping, 49Mb and on .... you've guessed it. eDonkey. (sorry) GuardianKnot DVD2AVI
  8. Edonkey 0wnz on a fast connection and this screenshot PROVES it!
  9. Yes, you are right, edonkey would sux when *not* used properly. 1. You need an up-to-date server.met file with a listing of servers. Maurice provides this (info at sharereactor.com) If you download the edonkey client and expect to connect, then you will fail, because the servers are out of date! This is where Maurice's Server.met auto-updater utility comes in handy, and integrates into edonkey. 2. Downloading something that's not well spread will be very hard to download, and slow too, since there are not a lot of users with the file who can upload to you. The more files that are well spread, the more uploads that are possible, and the more speed that you can download at. Sharereactor.com helps to do this, and it works.
  10. I'm getting VERY DESPERATE for broadband now, you should see what I have queued up in edonkey!!
  11. first things first. Open up a command prompt window and ping your other machine and vice versa (do it in MS-DOS window in WinME) Let me know how it goes. btw, the command to ping is: PING X.X.X.X Replace X.X.X.X with the IP address of the computer.
  12. No, I haven't heard or experienced any problems with Windows XP and 64mb DDR gfx cards. At the moment, I have an ATI Radeon 64Mb DDR card running 4x in Windows XP, and have played over 30 games without problems.
  13. On your "lonely" XP system, try to ping your other two machines. Go to command prompt and type: PING X.X.X.X replace X.X with the numbers you assigned to the machines. What do you get? --------- Now on your two other "working" machines, try and ping the "lonely" XP system. What do you get?
  14. He's waving his hands about like a pansy?
  15. The FBI have warned (news from www.neowin.net) that the patch does not cover the security hole. Disable Universal Plug 'n' Play now in the services!
  16. As you're a NERO fan, this page created by myself will help you, I even use the corpfiles too! http://kickme.to/BootableXP/ Good luck
  17. the voodoo drivers that come on the XP CD do not have Glide support, which is why its necessary to download modified drivers for XP (created by 3DFx fans) from the internet.
