    Help

Grab FileMon from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml and run it, it should tell you what activity is going on in your PC. I should warn you that it gets filled up with activity very quick if you're running a lot of applications, so turn off all the apps you know of, including firewall and antivirus protection and then run the program. You should be able to pinpoint the executable thats causing HDD activity. Hope that helps
  5. Yep, PCPlus is a very good magazine for hardware and PC reviews. Not something I get every month though. I still get PC Gamer and .NET Magazine every month, all of them are made by Future Publishing.
  6. hehe, very nice app, would be useful if my PC was shared in the family. But luckily it ain't lol!
  7. Norton 2002 was released end of last summer, and this end of summer is nearing... and that'll be when the beta stage of NAV 2003 is finished. That's one full year gap from their last AntiVirus release. so what's the problem?
  8. I wouldn't know how Flashget can repair files downloaded by something else really... cos Flashget starts a download with a jc! extension.
  9. well thats a bad download manager you used. I'm using Flashget and its at 90% complete so far on 56k, an hour and half to go now.
  10. You said in your first post that you had it...? Well, you can get it in the shops when its released as final. As it says in the forum rules we don't support warez on MSFN.
  11. Now why would you want a cracked beta? Beta software is buggy! You can always wait for a retail final to *cough* leak on the net
  12. Is there a temp monitor for graphics cards? My Radeon 64mb ddr fan is getting a bit dodgy, and haven't got a replacement fan at the moment, so for the time being I just want to monitor its temperature.
  13. You're lucky I found this just yesterday, looks neat: http://www.savagezone.net/reviews/compunurse/
  14. Maybe you should tell us what error it was and how you made this error appear, otherwise we can't help you. Can you check your spelling before you post? There is a Preview function on Invision Boards you know... its hard enough with all of us trying to figure out what you're trying to say. :assshake
  15. Symantec have released a public beta of its popular Anti virus software "Norton Antivirus 2003" it weighs in at just under 35mb and is full featured version. Many new improvements and new features have been added to Norton AntiVirus 2003. Symantec are very interested in your feedback on this product. Symantec will give away 50 FREE copies of Norton AntiVirus 2003 to the first 50 beta users that submit undocumented bugs. Winners will be notified via e-mail. Bear in mind that this is a beta so you could encounter problems. as stated on the Symantec beta site: One of the main reasons we release beta software is for testing purposes. Beta means that the product is still under development and is likely to contain bugs. We would like your feedback on the product, but we do not provide support on beta software. Please be sure to follow the installation instructions in the readme file that accompanies the beta software. Norton AntiVirus 2003 Beta Download Norton AntiVirus 2003 Beta Website
  16. Amen!
  17. Yep, wasn't that hard was it? It never hurts to try, and its something you should do in future.
  18. Homer - In page 1 of this thread, Blackwar mentioned IPhile, did you not read it?

    virus

Its likely this virus will not be activated in Safe Mode, to enter Safe Mode, do the following: Switch on your PC, when it says "Starting Windows 98..." quickly press the F8 key on your keyboard. A menu will appear, simply choose safemode. Open Norton Antivirus 2002 and remove the virus, if it detects it. I'm not sure if you can get Internet Connectivity in Safe Mode in Windows 98 to fetch the updated virus definitions. (its been a long time since I used it). If that doesn't help, then you should insert your Norton Antivirus 2002 CD and restart the machine. Press DEL to enter the BIOS and in one of the options, change the 1st Boot Device to CDROM. Save and Exit. Your CD should start up instead of Windows 98 and scan for viruses.
  20. You'll know its 64bit when it refuses to install on any standard Pentium or Athlon processor. Or just run the autoplay on the CD and see the autoplay menu that comes up, should be titled 64bit or something. .NET Server Family consists of 4 server products: Webserver Standard Server Enterprise Server (Advanced Server) Datacenter Server and its the server editions of Windows XP. http://www.microsoft.com/windows.net/
  21. You sure this is not a demo? They can't be giving a full game away for free can they? Also, on the website it says: This is a temporary low bandwidth version of our website until after the launch. So it sounds like a game still currently in development to me.
  22. I would guess it lowers the usage of RAM, not really a speed gain improvement, but you'll be able to multitask with a lot more programs with more RAM
  23. You already answered your own question
  24. There has been some negative feedback from Neowin comments, so there is an alternative: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
