Hi ubelong2matt the second drive does not sound like BSY. If it is sometimes recognised, and other times not, it is something else. Does it work if you try it through an external USB enclosure, or as a secondary internal HDD (not the system drive)? You do realise that you can recover your data and repair your drive using this procedure?

Did you test the power cable with another hdd to make sure it is working (or used another cable)? It certainly seems like the voltage is rather too low than too high So it is better to try without the resistor (might still be too low).
