  1. Missed this post.. Did you plug in the SATA power? I am assuming you did get a response in Hyperterminal (which you would not if no power was connected), what happened when you typed Z (enter) to spin down the drive and U (enter) to spin up the drive?.
  2. <sigh> I thought you already did the procedure Let us start at the very beginning. Did you do a loopback test? See FGA no. 3 and 4. Just for good measure, you can also read the rest of the FGA as well as the Read-Me-First as you obviously missed quite a few important parts (#11 deals with powering the converter). Then also read the guide by CarterinCanada a few times. Next time you report that you did the fix, make sure you followed that guide and got the expected responses. I am really flabbergasted that you actually reported a fix before and now come with these questions PS. and next time you quote a post, don't quote the whole post (especially if it is a long post), but only the relevant parts.
  3. That means the unbricking was unsuccessful Did you get something like this during the unbricking: What exactly did you do to unbrick it? Were there any strange error messages? Do you have a log file of your HyperTerminal session? Maybe repeat the whole procedure carefully again and save the log file.
  4. Normally after the fix, it is exactly as it was before it bricked with all the data and partitions like before . Did you get something like this: Is it seen in BIOS now. and if it is, as what size? How are you connecting to your computer now - still as an internal hdd via SATA or as an external USB? And NO, do not partition or overwrite anything now you are right to worry about that, let's first try to find out what is wrong.
  5. I can not agree with this. Just unbricked my drive last week for the 4th time. I undbricked it the last time two months ago. Well, maybe not strictly "at least" three months, but if your hdd bricked three more times in the 14 months since you fixed it the first time in Jan'10, it is 14/3=4.66 months. Thus on average it bricked every 4 months and twenty days which IS longer than the three months jaclaz said. It also depends on how many times you power cycle the drive and can't be exactly quantfied. Did you look here? http://support.seagate.com/firmware/fts_drive_check_en.html
  6. You're welcome Just a little affair to keep "MSFN Members" occupied during dull occasions.
  7. There are guaranteed limitless opportunities applying "this" loophole behind the green glass door (if dencorso will allow "it", that is )
  8. Actually works with either single or double quotes (although only the "javascript" is behind the green glass door, while the 'javascript' is not) There are guaranteed limitless opportunities for applying "this" behind the green glass door (if dencorso will allow it, that is )
  9. Does work if you search for "javascript" in quotation marks. Returned 601 results
  10. Good Question @tjdomsalla: What exactly is the symptoms of your hdd that you diagnosed it as "click of death"? Is it seen in Bios?
  11. Glad you managed to fix it Yes and No. Although not explicitly mentioned, the FGA DO say: Which DO include that firmware version
  12. That *might* be true (or they might be looking to make a quick buck), but in my experience if a Seagate 7200.11 with firmware prior to SD1A is suddenly not being seen in Bios (and was not dropped just prior to this occurrence), it is mostly (yes, there are exceptions) the BSY bug and not bad sectors. By trying the fix, you might save yourself £247 (or lose £1.99 if it is not BSY). As you have already bought the cable, it will cost you only 20 minutes of your time trying it (the £1.99 already spent). Since the fix is just some sort of general reset, you shouldn't damage your drive trying it, even if it is not the case (unless the drive is making funny noises as if the internals are breaking, in which case it is not recommended, but from your description, this is NOT the case). Anyway, your choice. Choices, choices... (but, as jaclaz always says, choose wisely)
  13. Yes, Yes and Yes!!!. That is also the moral of the last paragraph in the never-read fifth point of the Read-Me-First. You are welcome. Glad you managed to get your data back
  14. I **might** have been applying the fallacy known as Red Herring, but since there are NO judge, jury or even Lawyers, I will still be attempting to succeed Actually the Wookiees (except those running around on Kashyyyk) dwell only behind the green glass door and NOT on Endor.
  15. Not necessarily , the Polyanna Principle will be more applicable to me cum multis aliis behind the green glass door, where the bottle is pretty well overfilled, rather that just half a tumbler
  16. Well, since it is a Communist State, with the only fallbacks being a Garrison State and Tyranny, with no Democracy or even Human Rights (not even a Constitution), it is actually flabbergasting that our poor buddy was neither tortured, nor threatened to tell how he could supply cranberries, beets, brussel sprouts and broccoli if there is only Summer, with NO Autumn, Winter or Spring.
  17. After interrogating the seller at the farm stall, the poor fellow admitted there's NO Celery, Rocket or Endive, but they do have cabbage and silver beets. Additional cross-examining affirmed the absence of tomato, and curcurbits (like Melons, Cucumber, Pumpkin) but he let it fall that they do have Peppers, Chillies, Eggplant and Sweet corn. He then confessed to also having Sweet potato, Carrots, Beetroot and Leeks, but regretted that there's no Onions, Radishes or Asparagus .
  18. What is the difficult part in the README first? READ ATTENTIVELY point #10! Draw your own conclusions. jaclaz Also see here No need to double post. Same questions will yield the same answers.
  19. The ASCII Diag mode is not necessarily a problem. If you search the topic for it (top right of page), you will see a couple of people got that message and still succeeded in debricking their drives. The replies from hyperterminal seemed to indicate it worked. Not sure why it didn't Did you input the commands as is (without disconnecting the PCB)? Maybe try it again with F3 T>m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 (enter).
  20. I suddenly had a sense of deja vu. Didn't I also recommended that exact same converter to you last year?
  21. Too bad, that probably means coconuts, jujube and camu camu won't be recognized either, so we'll stick with pineapple, ackee, persimmon, mamoncillo and mangosteen.
  22. Not sure if a USB cable is included (otherwise just use one from a printer or buy one) Rest of questions Yes , Yes and Yes
  23. Yes, that one will work (as jaclaz said) For guide see below:
