A little hyper or drunk are we figster. Seem to have alot of energy lol. But yes i do agrred they will have SP4/5 in a few year which will be great. But by then they will come out with some insane OS (im hoping). With everything customers every wanted lol. *dreaming if only if only* Or if they made a insane Windows OS jump like from windows 98 to XP. But wont happen anytime soon unfortunatly.

I agree in some cases. I mean on this computer i have a third party, but in my other computer which i do just as much and i do just about all of those things, not has happen yet to my computer. So i guess it just depends on the person's perspective, and how frequently they use those programs

Future reference, use the QUOTE tag next time. And, i know linux i great for gaming, but i also use it for other utilities and not just gaming. And so im leading back to my point of, If you just browsing the web, researching, doing stocks, then there is no use of a third party firewall.

First of all. IE? ewwwww. I would definitly change to Firefox or Opera. If you dont switch then i would recommend reinstalling IE.

Does the remote network havea firewall stopping it. And the password protection could do it. Or the file protection. It maybe the other computer because of running windows ME. But to me that wouldnt be the cause. Or, its probably you can connect to the network drive through My Computer and clicking on the network drive. But i dont believe MS Office can directly connect to the network drive to place it in there.

Yes, it should work with WinXP Home sp2 because there is no big difference between the 2 OS's except for connecting to a domain and group policy. But test it out and post results!

Agreed with some of this. Third party firewall. If your only browsing and doing research there really no reason to use a third party. But for other reason such as gaming(because your giving out your IP), and if your using it as your work computer, then definitly use a third party firewall.

No to young to work for microsoft. But including your router firewall and Windows XP Firewall not alot if going to get by. I mean right now i use a third part firewall because of pinging reason. When i host games, little children try to ping my computer to make the game server run slow. But if your not doing gaming where people want to ping you and your just using your computer for research and stocks, looking at MSFN, then whats the use of a third party firewall.

No. I dont think he should disable the Windows XP. Because then you dont necessarly need a third part firewall. Sine you have your router firewall which is a barrier, and your windows firewall which is varly good!
