  1. If you're waiting for the latest thing to end up being cheap, it won't. By the time something becomes cheap, it will be because something new (and more expensive) has come out to replace it. The Inspiron 9300 is already on it's way down the line. Dell already has plans to replace it with a newer, faster model.
  2. So does Western Digital on all Enterprise level (Raid Edition and Raptors) drives.
  3. Three things are coming for laptops in the near future. Dual-core mobile processors. Speed increase from 533MHz to 667MHz for DDR2 memory. Faster (again) video cards.
  4. The day Windows goes Adware is the day I switch to Linux.
  5. You guys are assuming too much. Quad SLI could mean anything. "Dual GPU" based video cards in SLI (aka 2 video cards, 4 cores) would be considered quad SLI, and it's been proven (although not very stable) doable... see here. I am aware of their being talk of Quad SLI motherboards supporting four video cards, but that seems very unlikely that an OEM manufacturer would want to be support quad video card systems.
  6. That last line will never execute. See, after you execute DEL %0, the batch in question is no longer available, so it never reads the last line. Also, the Attrib -r is superfluous. It's not necessary.
  7. Personally, I would recommend the CoolerMaster AquaGate R-120.
  8. Pioneer DVR-110D. Burns anything you throw at it. Also, it's not rip-locked.
  9. Nope. When you flatten image, all four layers are combined and any transparency is filled.
  10. Enterprise Edition drives are better because their reliability is much higher. They last twice as long, as built twice as tough and offer a 5 year warranty instead of 3 years. Also, if you're concerned about the performance hit from NCQ, you can just disable it.
  11. And THAT's why Western Digital is still the best. They're still as good. How many old Quantum/Maxtor drives do you still see running? Not many.
  12. Cut each quarter and paste them one on top of each other using a seperate layer for each. Desaturate each layer, set opacity 25% for each, then flatten image.
  13. Actually, it is. The heavier the power supply, the more components inside used to regulate power, and also, the better quality those components are. It's a very simple, unscientific way to know if a power supply is cheap or not. If it doesn't weight much, it ain't worth nothing.
  14. **** good find mate. That was a hell of a good read. Specially since they compared it to the Raptor 74GB (of which I have two in RAID 0).
  15. bytecc enclosures tend to be reliable, other then that, i personally have no idea.
  16. I'd add Enermax to the list of reliable power supply makers. However, Enermax tends to be louder then Antec.
  17. My vote goes towards XXCOPY.
  18. Use InCtrl5, freeware, released by PC Magazine. (If you google hard enough, you'll find it somewhere.)
  19. I think I know what problem he's talking about. After SP2, there's a new question it asks when you install new drivers, something about going online or not to search for drivers. That new question screws up some of the older drivers install. I would suggest you go online to download newer drivers for your hardware.
  20. You actually have to plug both the old failing drive and the new drive onto standard (non-raid) sata ports for the ghost to work... it'll tell you during the ghost that it can't recognize the operating system and ask you if you want to do a sector by sector transfer instead, to which you reply yes.
  21. Stay away from Maxtor if you value your data. And you're better off using a seperate case and hard drive since you can replace and upgrade the hard drive at anytime on your own. Purchase a Western Digital or Seagate hard drive of the capacity and price range you're comfortable with and simply slap it in any generic external hard drive case. And careful not to drop it or bang it... it's very sensitive.
  22. Never rely too much on sites that have it for sale before everyone else does... I would suspect a bit of a scam on their part. Why would some small time place sell it before big guys like newegg?

  24. If you have that many machines to maintain, you should be running Update Server which is free and you should be managing which updates they can install from the server.
