I tried at every cd writing speed and it always fails... this is weird. My dvds are flawless, and they read well, while my cds are buggy and can't pass data verification from nero... anyone can help?
-
I tried with both sticks independently, not working... i don't have any other ones to test with though.
-
Yeah. I tried to put it master, and disabled smart on the hdds... I got my 4x back! But the utility still says the same error so I simply verify written data in nero even if it's a couple of minutes longer. I tested with dvd and it works, im trying the cd right now at 24x, should be no problem. Maybe it's their test utility that sucks. EDIT: the cd-r was full of read errors even in nero, so the dvd are burning fine at max speed but not the cds... what's wrong? I'll try decrementing the speed until it stops doing it but i wish I could fix this.

In the office slipstreaming section (and everywhere else on msfn), the links should point to the download page, with the drop down menu to select language, instead of directly to the different service packs. The link is "coded" to a specific place and we can't just change ENU for FRA to get the download. It would be so much time saving to simply get to choose. Thanks Oh and at some point in the middle of the page it says (click here for cd 2-5) and, well, this is not a link. Great work btw this unattended site is a goldmine Also, in project line to slipstream sp1, should read msiexec /p C:\Project2003SP1\Project2003-KB837240-FullFile-ENU.msp /a C:\Project2003\PRJPROE.MSI SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb

a bit too late, i deleted the email right after pasting it here

Come on, anyone? Is it because the data transfer is slow? How can we test that? Also my hdd is primary ide master, and my burner secondary ide slave, i'll try to put it master. Also, my hdd2 needs smart to run, at least it did a couple of months ago. I heard disableing that could give more data transfer... Anyone with a solution? I can't do it all by myself here

Hi, I'm trying to setup my friend's new computer. It's a pentium 4 3GHz with 2x512Mb DDR 3200 and a quadro fx (i think it's 128mb) pci express graphic card. She also has a sata 200Gb Seagate hdd. All of this plugged on Asus P5GDC-V Deluxe motherboard. My cd is unattended XP SP2 slipstreamed, tested on at least 4 other friends machines, installation went fine and perfect on the 1st time. The problem on this one is I keep getting a BSOD error BAD_POOL_HEADER. I tried different things from google, like disableing wireless network adapter (i dont have any so that was quick to try), disableing indexing service (I can't even install xp so can't do that either...) Lot of people posted that kind of error on gamers forums, so maybe it's graphic related but I don't have any pciexpress agp card to test other that the quatro fx. After booting from cd, loading sata drivers and all the other crap, at the moment the installer would start to copy the files, the error happens. I tried a lot of times, and it always happened at that precise moment. I managed once to copy the files and get to 1st run and then it crashed with another BSOD after the loading screen disapeared. The following time, error again before files are copied. So how can I fix this? I can'T even manage to install xp Please help, i tried everything, played with all options in the bios, nothing

HI, I have a DRU-510A dvd-+rw from sony. My friend just gave me yesterday, before taking it out we burned a dvd from her media and it went fine. Back at home, I tried with one of her dvd-r but got an answer that this disk was not a dvd or a blank disk?!?!. I updated the firmware to v1.1a, and tested the drive with their utility and I get Moreover, my device is supposed to be "High Performance CD-R/RW burning The DRU-510A also functions as a high performance CD burner,up to 24X CD-R and 16X CD-RW burning." It detects the 24x for the cds, but I'm burning DVD-R at 1x for them to be readable, and the listdown menu says 1x, 2x or 2,4x only... There does not seem to have OS drivers anywhere, all I found as "drivers" was a firmware update on sony's site. Anyone can help me or suggest utilities to troubleshoot and fix this? I'd like to get my fullspeed back for dvd's and also be able to use it at full speed for dvds and cds without them becoming unreadable. Thanks a lot.

Unattended Secret: Reducing Size Of Source

Thanks a lot sleepnmojo you rock! -
I'll check on virus bulletin. The reason I'm asking this is because I was thinking switching from Symantec Antivirus to nod32 for my unatteded cd and wanted to be sure to keep secure, have virus defs auto-updates (like I did for symantec with some reg configs), and also, something memory-friendly, which symantec did well for the moment. I'll look around if there is info on how to set this up for unattended cds, maybe I should give it a try. It's that or symantec 10 EDIT: I checked on the site, mcafee, symantec, nod32, kaspersky, f-secure and avast all have the 100% mention (which only means that it blocked everything and didn't give any false alert either) I looked rapidly but didn't see more than that to compare the softwares.

Unattended Secret: Reducing Size Of Source
Thauzar replied to gosh's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
And when doing my unattended cd, I often have to use %systemdrive% I don't know how to call this expression, but what are the other %something%? Is there on for the user accound folder? Because %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\Thauzar\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\opera6.adr for example, this will only work for my user account... but if I want to make it so that whatever the username is during install it still get to copy the bookmark in the right place. It's not usefull for reducing source but it gives a good output when you get to delete all those icons on the desktop and have all bookmarks and settings preconfigures when you 1st boot up after runonceex -
All I see here is opinions. I admit I didnt go through all the 25 pages but what I'd like to see is a comparison, a benchmark for AVs. Some say nod32 is the best. Why? What's different from symantec antivirus 9 or 10, or those 2 compared to PC-cillin. That way we would really know which one is the best, and why. Facts would found the opinions. Which one protects better? Which ones is more stealth and memory-friendly? etc. That's what I'd like to know.

That's what my instinct thought too, it's not because they show real links to real ebay pages about policy that it's coming from ebay. But at least people will get to look at it and know what it is when they get this in their mailbox. Warn your n00b aunts and grand-mothers

I've been asked a lot about that kind of email from friends and relative, I suspect this is fake and the link to "update" is not even working in hotmail. At least if it's not real more people will know and beware. Oh and BTW I just logged in to my ebay account and had no such messages in my message box. Moreover, i'm not suspended or anything since I managed to log in on the 1st attempt... this smells horsesh*t

Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.0.0.359
Thauzar replied to contender's topic in Application Installs
Ok, i'm convinced about upgrading, but again, I keep hearing so much good of nod32 but no real comparisons with symantec av, except user opinion saying i prefer one over the other because it's like that... I've always stick with symantec. Any of you can light me up even if it's a bit off topic? Im about to pack my ua cd and I want the best av, didnt try nod32 cause symantec av is so memory saving comparend to norton av... -

Just to be sure, VALUEADD and SUPPORT folders, if removed from ua cd, will not stop me from using the cd to setup networks on other platforms? -
Thanks! that made it!

This is a bad argument cause most of the stupid people will answer "go for the neighbours". And the paranoïds and skeptical ones will say hey I don't know personnaly those IT, I never invited them to dinner, I bet they are BS and are in facts robots from another planet, IF they ever really existed. And everyone will believe the average Joes (I'm sarcastic here) -

Why do people like ^_^ just can't shut up if they don't like it or believe it?!"??? Go play in your room, drink your little after noon juice, take a nap and let grown ups have a break! It's not because someone gives out free demo, or talks about something, that his software is great or he is making sales pitch. Heck you are just here to insult him, being disrespectful and just plain not understanding, cause you don't want to do the little effort to understand, to go aroung your heavy walls and say HEY, IMAGINE it could work? I don't say Let's believe rythmnsmoke because he says so and got a livemeeting to prove it. Doubt it a good thing in life, being skeptikal is not bad at all. If you really want to see it to believe it, then simply DON'T FORM AN OPINION, wheter it's good or bad, cause you don't have much proofs on any side. It seems bul*****, but can you prove it is? No cause you haven't tried it so stop saying that kind of BS yourself!!!!!! I prefer to say that this is an interessant idea, I believe (note here its the word BELIEVE not KNOW). I believe that it would be great for it to work. I haven't seen it yet. A live demo would be a bit convincing but not as much as trying out myself. And I think this is the biggest problem here, people want soo much to try it themselves they just can't trust a bit of info coming from the exterior. And what if you had a free copy, installed it wrong and reported it didn't work? Would that be trustable info based on the fact YOU the GREAT AND OH SO POWERFULL YOU, tried it? Come on! So yeah it's good to be skeptical here, not a dumb follower, but you are not posting here for that, your doubt was expressed a long time ago, all you want to do here is b***h and ditch the poor guy just because he doesnt give you all you want, like crybabies. If I was admin here, a lot of you would have got a kick in their a** by PM. Especially you ^_^but not only you. You expressively said you where posting here just to make fun of him, just to cause trouble. This is immature and not worthy of this forum. And the only sale pitch I saw, the only real advertisement I saw, was by all those idiots coming here just to say that their way is the best, and making sure we all know they use nod32. This is what I saw here, a good idea, a lot of dumbasses who would prefer put their heads in their butts before making a tiny room for a bit of believing under certain conditions, namely having a bit of imagination... And the only publicity that worked here, is the ones for nod32... so all of you guys who don't have real questions because you really want to understand (like that guy asking for a certain type of graphic so he could see in his way what the concept his to better understand it), well find yourself a life and leave this place for once. You are the ones troubling the conversation here. And you don't even bring anything new with you. -

You guys are just a bunch of f**king idiots who can't have a little respect for other people. This "screenshot" was made with msPaint in 5 minutes, and you suck at paint you looser. And I don't understand why all of you are just flaming this guy, complaining and telling him his program wont work or is bul*****. If you don't like it, if you don't believe him, then just don't post here and pretend you never know it existed. You really are a bunch of childs, I pity your attitude. Start acting like adults and showing a bit of respect, cause even if his thing does not work, at least they tried to find a new and better way to do things. The way you laugh at him, the way you disrespect him, it's really annoying and not worthy of this forum of "professionnals". You are the ones forcing him to repeat 3-4 times the same thing because you don't believe him or you ask stupid, already answered questions. If you are skeptik, then just ignore him and walk away. At least it's not like that on other threads, people help and encourage each others instead of bitching and voluntarily not-understand the point and all. I know it's hard to believe, but have a little imagination for god's sake, get your heads out of your a**es. But they are right on 1 thing, you should release a couple, like maybe 12-15, evaluation copies. Not all of them for here but you know, a couple here, a couple on another forum, 2 to the biggest banks and the others to the federal offices or whatever. So the SOBs here who just can't have any respect for other's project that are not related to msfn would have the chance to try it. Please give them a chance to choke on their pride and shut up . As for me, I'm interested on the concept because it's original but I really don't have trouble protecting my small network cause I'm always aware. But I'm really serious, if you can keep viruses of my mom's computer, (I swear I tried every AV and spyware cleaner combination... how is she always getting infected?!?! I format her pc every 3 months and install all updates as soon as they are released) it would be for me the very proof that your concept works -

Thauzar replied to contender's topic in Application Installs
I know i haven't read the whole thread, but I'm not ready yet to implement norton symantec 10 with all the troubles you guys seem to have. I'm just wondering, have symantec released a patch, or does anyone know when it should be more reliable and easy to setup? Should I expect updates during the summer? I'm waiting for it to be a sure bet before taking out SAV9 from my ua cd and replacing it with SAV10 -

I would do this for free if you gave me a copy. I would install it on my moms computer. She and her husband are the best, common, (often stupid with computers) people who always get infected by whatsoever even if I installed them an antivirus and update it often. If your software pass the parents test, I will certify it to be truly above all others loll Users in entreprise and my parents are of the same breed... -

Etiquette This shouldn't even be in the WindowsXP section either... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not trying to promote the site. I'm trying to educate the masses any way I can, to show you there is something far greater in technology than the popular AV software of today. To be quite frank with you, probably 95% of the people we deal with on a daily basis have never even seen our website. This is a true "Word of Mouth" product. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why do you admins always have to cry like sissies for nothing. I don't want to start a flame war and you can very well ban me for what I'm about to say (cause I'm sure you wont like to hear it) but I don't care cause at least I act like an adult not a child. What's wrong about posting a link, he's not even doing promotion for this software, only explaining to us that it exists cause nobody mentioned it in all the numerous threads and posts about AV softwares. And if this software runs on XP, since there is no AV section it fits well in the Windows XP section. So stop acting like a crybaby over your so precious netiquette, you are making a fool out of you. Learn to judge reasonably and you will see this is not a infomercial, this guy is only mentioning stuff we don't know of, this should be encouraged on this forum. And by judging by the other posts, people find this interesting and would like to know more. So next time, please twist you fingers 7 times before typing and shut up, leave people be a little bit. Are you God or what? I'm not mad nor angry, but I get tired of that kind of attitude. Hey do you have screenshots? Try to infect yourself just to show us how it reacts or something... Why is this not released to public if it's so good? EDIT: haha see, that guy is just more politically correct but says the same thing as me, stop whining, this is IT forum and we talk about tech stuff, and I bet if this project was made my nuhi or allanoll nobody would complain... sometimes people on msfn tend to be close minded...
