power calibration error and other stuff
Thauzar replied to Thauzar's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
I did that, and I tried with a memorex cd i found out I had left, and i worked, then tried again with the kodak ones, and it worked too I will edit this in a couple of burns to confirm if it's really fixed -
power calibration error and other stuff
Thauzar replied to Thauzar's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
If it was the media, it would not have worked with the built-in cdwriter of windows XP... if the drive was incompatible with the media it would have done the same mistake. I have other leads, maybe it's something with NERO and HP, or, I heard it could be a conflict between IMAPI.com something between the built in XP writer and nero that could cause this. Maybe it helps you to help me, cause it's definetely not the media -
Hi I just installed a cd writer+ 9300 series from HP. from the 1st burn, I get power calibration error among other stuff. Well the first time it was can't do fixation or something like that, the log is posted next. I use Nero 6.066 and it did it 3 times, while it worked perfectly and fast without any errors when I got mad and used the built-in windows XP cd burning tool. What's wrong? Nero never left me down, is it some incompatibiliy with nero and hp drives cause nero worked fine untile I changed my old mitsumi for this not-so-new-either HP drive. So here is the log with the most errors on it, the fixation error I first encontered is listed there, but now it has power calibration error and can't write EndTrack errors too. To make a long story short: had a P2 400mhz and a P2B motherboard. A long time ago in a gallaxy far far away, a young boy flashed the bios with P2BS instead of P2B files and had to change his motherboard and cpu cause it was not powering on anymore. My question, is there a way to revive this old board? cause I had the backup of the right bios, but can't put it back cause computer does not start once you f*cked with the bios. Or maybe someone with a EEPROM writer could help me?
-
Exactly! thanks parahtml for your reply but I found it out by myself (just to show i'm not that n00b loll)
-
If it was that simple I would have found it myself. The problem does not happens on a hotmail page, but on the page that is opened by msn prior to the connection to hotmail, C:\Documents and Settings\Thauzar\Local Settings\Temp\spng_redir.html which redirect to hotmail. The thing is that is uses some activeX content and it does not autoredirect to hotmail as it used to. But I don't want to activate activeX for all pages. in security C:\Documents and Settings\Thauzar\Local Settings\Temp\spng_redir.html is not a valid adress for the trusted sites anyway But I found out it has something to do with the SPNG pluggin so I'll write to the author instead
-
Hi, I noticed since I installed MSN 7 that whenever I click on the email icon on top of the contact list, it opens a IE window to hotmail... nothing new here. The new thing is that it does it using some active X content or whatever that is blocked by IE "for my safety". I then have to tell IE it's ok to show active X content for this page. Then it's ok as long as I don't reboot. I don't want to deactivate this function cause it's really usefull on other sites, but make it stop reacting when MSN tries to open my hotmail mailbox? BTW I have msn plus installed, with SPNG pluggin and patched for ad removed and file transfer enabled (in case this might change something)

It really depends on the computer's stats, on a slower, older system 2k is the best but if you can handle XP without slowing down your computer too much, go for it!

Is there a way to add people from AIM on MSN 6.2 (or 7) cause I'm ok with MSN and I don't want to install another instant messaging program. Else is there another solution? Trillian is not free
-
Have you tried contacting your ISP? that's the first step i guess
-
Worked perfectly thanks a lot!!!!

WOOT hehe

I don't care if it's e or d, as long as I can finally upgrade all my computers. So repack the d version with the upgrade thing fix if you listen to those guys, but anyway i don't listen to that file format so i'm not concerned by the trouble if you decide to do a new pack with the e version
-
Please don't forget the upgrade thing (you know what I'm talking about...) so I don't have to uninstall winamp on all machines prior to updating thanks
-
whoops. Forgot to add upgrade paths and such (didn't generate a newID for the package). If it's really that big of a deal, I can make the modifications in a few days. Well it just would be easier for me to upgrade all the computers at once without having to uninstall first. But if there is gonna be a E or F version sooner or later I can wait for the next release. But if this is gonna be "final" for a while it would be very nice to add the upgrade thing you mentionned, please Thanks again!
-
nice! Didn't even know there already was a d version out. But, how come we can't install it on a system with winamp already installed? Before I used to simply install over the previous version. Or maybe i'm having a flashback...
-
Hey allanoll, I don't want to add pressure or anything, maybe you already answered this question, but are you gonna release a MSI for the 5.08c version of winamp or is it useless in your opinion?
-
Now there is a 5.08c FINAL release of winamp, I don't know if you are tired allanoll but they are surely testing your patience with all those constant winamp releases. But I guess this time it is final, I hope. Do you plan on redoing the msi or do you say f*ck off?
-
Thanks Allanoll for this new release. What would we do without you?
-
it's not that bad, concentrate on school at this time of year, you'll have all christmass for the MSI
-
Great, I really hope they fixed all the security flaws on this winamp. Thanks allanol for your time and work. Gonna check for updates on this thread often.

What kind of minor problems over time? I need something that works, something I won't have to exchange after only 9 months and something from a company that wants to keep their clients and will do a free replacement. I need a bullet-proof warranty no 3 month sh?t like Creative.
-
Hi, I bought a Creative MuVo² last january and it always "froze". I think it's the hd having trouble with the small shocks cause I have never dropped it and I don't do any hardcore sports or actions with it. Anyway, now it's dead, it froze for the last time and you know what? CREATIVE OFFERS 90 DAYS WARANTY FOR THEIR 300$ DEVICE!!!!! I am so p***ed cause now i'm gonna have to pay for the shipping to get it repaired, plus, it can cost me up to 180$ if they must replace it. WTF???!!!?!?!?!???? First of all since when a decent company offers 90 days waranty with a 300 usd purchase? Panasonic offers at least 1 year with their discmans, logitech offers at least 1 year with their webcams, heck even dell offers at least one year for their laptops. My question is: should I pay for repair or does anyone have a GOOD offer to make me? I am looking for a small capacity mp3 player, so no 512MB ones, but no 20 gigs one either. I liked the 1,5Gb capacity, the MuVo 4Gb would be cool too but I'd like to buy from another brand then those losers at Creative Labs, a company with respect for their clients who do not s*** money from their a**. sorry for the bad language but **** it im a university student not some pornstar or millionaire. 300$ is hard working money for me and 180$ more plus shipping is just another rock thrown in the pond. So if anyone here got suggestions, I need music fast! Thanks for anyone who replies, and if you work at creative, and you have some professionnal conscience, do something for me, I just can't believe a well known company like creatives can't offer a basic waranty. Thanks, cheers

And to go back to topic... anyone know when Symantec plans to release it's multilang. update of SAV? I'm stil waiting for the french version to come out and I haven't found any info about that during my quick search of symantec's site. The ftp is down this morning, maybe they are updating the files or not loll
