I've received several emails of XPize users telling me that Norton Antivirus 2006 found Trojan.Zlob in XPize. I downloaded the Norton AV demo and started to remove pieces of code to see what was causing that. After lot of testing I found the solution: NSIS allows installers to be compressed using different compression methods. The one I use with XPize is the LZMA. Changing this method to another one like BZIP2 fixes the virus warning It seems that the crappy Norton AV does not like LZMA compression I will release a fixed version soon. EDIT: Installer will weight 3MB more using BZIP2 compression!! I love you Symantec! EDIT 2: XPize version 4.4.2 released. EDIT 3: Reuploading version 4.4.2 compiled using NSIS 2.18 and LZMA compression. This time, Norton does not complain.

eXPander is a front-end for expand.exe, makecab.exe and modifyPE.exe made in C# 2.0, similar to the great Compression Bin by jcarle. I know it isn't innovative, but I just wanted to put in practice my coding skills making a simple app like this, while at the same time improving in some fields Compression Bin. The Reloader makes a refresh shell icon cache after its completion. Maybe it is that what is causing that refresh. Selecting or not the 7zip icons in the reloader is not a problem because XPize detects if you have previously installed them or not. Let me investigate more on this.

@-I-: I cant delete or replace resources since XPize is intended to work with several versions of XP and Win2003. The implementation of this would be a complete mess and new bugs will appear. I think it is better that users with the problem at hand delete the resources on their own as you did.

No way to 'fix' the problem. When developing XPize I just removed all 16 an 256 colors icons in order to reduce file size and because Windows does not use those formats normally (only in special cases).

XPize only patches reosurces (not actual files), so I cant figure out why that is happening to you. Maybe someone with more experience in MUI installs can tell us something.

Hehe, I think youre doing it wrong. How are you trying to uninstall those icons? You have an option in the uninstaller called "custom icons". Using Force Reload is useless in this case. Are you trying to uninstall wmplayer.exe and not the actual custom icons? Offtopic: for me is "Archivos de Programa", although Im using English XP

Where do you have installed WMP? C:\Program files or another partition?

Whats your question exactly? Please, download XPize Guide (you can find it in the website), so you can know everything abou XPize.

XPize is supposed to revert those icons back to WMP defaults. Try refreshing shell icons or uninstalling them again.

XPize 4.4.1 is out. I've just fixed a false positive trojan detection some users were having (I think all of them using AVG antivirus). Nevertheless it is recommended that ALL of you redownload it. You can install it on top of version 4.4.

Thanks for your reply and great that you have solved your issue. About the battery icon, I've tried to mod it in different versions but there is only 16 color support for it, so no chance to make it look great.

Not really mate. I'm just surprised about what I'm reading: None of the customizations applied, so weird. I will compare 4.3 and 4.4 code to see which change may be the responsible of that. By the way, is 4.3 fully working where 4.4 is not?

I still dont know exactly what the dial up problem is. I need a screenshot please. XPize does not patch WMV/WMA files I just wanted to clean up things, but maybe it is a good idea to put it back for those who dont have XPize website bookmarked.

Please, attach a screenshot about the dialup. I've removed those files because theyre not widely used and I want to reduce installer size. I will check the PDF issue. Thanks
