  1. I have the next issue with Nero Burning Rom. I burn a compilation or a CD image on a blank CD (the brand of the CD is eProformance). The verification after burning says that the burn was OK. Furthermore, I test the cd using Nero's tool: Nero Cd Speed. Here comes the problem: The file test it's Ok, but the surface test reports x% of the disk damaged. What should i think the cd it's wrong burnt or Nero is misss reporting ?
  2. Yes that patch for Symantec NAV is out. Just run LiveUpdate to get it.
  3. As you supposed this issue i think it's related with Norton WMI update that enables Security Center to get the status of AV. Maybe this feature doesn't work 100% and from this aroses the problem. Anyway as I said if u don't use Security Center disable its service. It also saves u some memory.
  4. I observed the same issue, I tell Security Center that I'll monitor my firewall and AV, but it keeps monitoring by himself. The best solution, if u don't use Security Center at all, it's to disable it's service. Just hit Run, type "services.msc" and look for the Security Center Service. Right click, Properties, Disable. And it's gone. It will never annoy u.
  5. 1 question a bit OT: Is there any virtual machine that can emulate the hardware for MAC OS X ? I would like to test that OS and I know that VMware does not suppot it.
  6. VMware , but ...... This was the first Virtual Machine that a friend recomended to me. It was first love. Having the possibility to test different OS and apps without any concern about my real Win install was something owsome. Though I use Vmware just for 5 months I simply like it. Never used VPC PS: After upgrading to the last version and seeing that virtual network drivers and services craps anoyed me a little, but that's it ... i dissabled all and continue to use VMware
  7. Ok ... So there is no key slipped ... that key must be in there with a specific purpose Thanks all you Sherlock Holmes

  9. What do u mean by that ?

  11. Ok I tried and it works !!!! 10x zbeta... Just a little add-on: There is no need to boot into the WinXP installation CD. (Maybe some of does who read this topic don't have it ~ I have it ) Just press F8 during the boot sequence and enter Safe Mode with command Prompt. In the prompt copy&overwrite the original sysdm file with the modified one.
  12. @Alanoll: Sorry, but I can't take grant for something that isn't mine That file doesn't belong to me .... Where did u get it ? If it's from this forum the post contains the name of the person so you should find the person who really done that file. EDIT: If u take a look at that file it's not that great . Some of the registry tweaks are 5-6 times !!!! And u can't folow it. It's a mess .... @ShakeNotStirr: I'm still working on my reg file, but in a few days i think I'll post it in here.
  13. THERE IS NO CONFUSION AT ALL !!!!! I just asked why can't I modify that string in the registry
  14. That is something we already knew.
  15. I found in the registry where the version string is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion] "Build"="2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158" I tried to edit this string, but it doesn't keeps the modification. After I log off or restart the original strings apears again. Anyone know why can't I modify this string ???
  16. The key in the unattended.txt file seems to be VALID. It belongs to the following PID: XXXXX-012-9869442-XXXXX. So the questions remains: why M$ left that key in that file ??????
  17. Does anyone know the blacklist for SP2 ???? The Windows XP SP1 installation will fail on computers with the following product IDs: • XXXXX-640-0000356-23XXX • XXXXX-640-2001765-23XXX Note: The above list is taken from M$'s official webpage What about SP2 ??? 18. Ok you may call me FREAK , but I must say that I had the strenght & courage to read ALL 789 posts in this topic !!!!! But that was very useful ... I managed to create my own ULTIMATE REGISTRY TWEAK THANK YOU ALL guys Some of the tweaks are very, very useful or interesting !!!!! As on cleaning this topic i think it's nothing we can do It's too crawded. The only thing it can be done is to post somewhere on the MSFN unattended webpage a reg file HIGHLY DOCUMENTED that contains all the tweaks that have been posted here, so that anyone could pick the tweaks he likes.
  19. Chech this PDF Guide
  20. The build number on your desktop is all right. You have the final version. : Windows grabs this build number 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 from this WinRegistry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  21. @zbeta: what progrma did u use to edit sysdm.cpl I tried with Reshacker. I manage to replace the bitmap, I save the file, but when i reopen it it's the old file with the old bitmap
