a better thing you should download insted of what Zxian posted is this one. http://download.neo-win.net/nw_uxtheme.zip *gotta remove the [-] cause otherwise it gets turned to <<spam>> since neo-win is in the MSFN filter...* all you gotta do is run the exe then hit patch. easy as that. then start getting some themes and put them in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. so when your done copying it.. it should look like this.. C:\Windows\resources\themes\*name of theme*\*name of theme*.msstyle and should also have another folder inside the *name of theme* folder called Shell. the themes from StyleXP should work with the hacked uxtheme.dll since its basically the same thing. you can get some themes from here: http://www.customize.org/list/stylexp after you unzip them to the correct directory it shoudl show up when you right click the desktop, hit properties, hit the apperance tab, and where it says "windows xp style" change it to the theme you selected.

hmm your boot.ini file looks diffrent then how mine was when i used stylexp. i had another option below "Windows XP home Edition" that said to use the theme... possibly a diffrent version so thats why.. Style XP is safe. and is more then enough for the normal everyday user. The reason for the countdown to select the themes is if you apply a boot screen that is invalid or corrupted so you can boot your computer using the default bootscreen. The reason why Zxian and I suggested using a hacked UXtheme.dll is, because they are usually easier to deal with. *this will only work if you patch your UXTheme.dll* you download the theme, you unzip them in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, and when you right click the desktop and hit properties, then hit the apperance tab in the box that says "Windows XP Style" and "Windows Classic Style" the theme that you download is in there. and if it has diffrent color schemes it will be in the box below it. so no other programs are required to run to change or use the Style ThemeXp was a good website, and still is if the background is in a zip and as a .jpg extenstion. but all the spyware they install has driven me away. Those files you downloaded sounds like boot Screens, they are a pain in teh rear to install. I hate boot screens cause they're only there when you turn the computer on... so you see it for about 20 seconds... i wouldn't screw up my computer so i could use a boot screen i would only see for 20 seconds.. on the registry file you clicked yes on.. right click on it and hit edit. then paste what that says in here. After looking on my backup hard drive i got a trailer from gamespy thats about 500 megs... and the graphics look better on that version... also.. on the 500 meg trailer i got from gamespy.. the crowbar blood splatter was the same as it was in Half-Life1 i'm sure they fixed it now though. but anywho.. knowing me i'll go out and buy the game lol. I like the Half-Life story too much to just scrap it cause the graphics weren't A++++.. i'll settle for A+++

those things are there for a reason.. it can be anything from a resistor, to a capacitor, to practically any electronic part.. if you still have it and look at how the rest of them are you can solder it back on.. its hard as hell to do.. but you can do it. speaking of solderin small parts, this is easy compared to a fix i had to do to my mainboard.. I had to solder one of the traces on my mainboard.. you know the green lines that run all over the place.. those are hard to solder lol. and theres no garuntee that if you buy a cheap used one and soldered it on that it would work.. it could be a diffrent Surface Mount Component.. or a diffrent Value.. (10 ohm capacitor vs a 50 ohm capacitor)

First off, Welcome to MSFN.org 1. I had once ran all 3 of those on my computer, it ran ok but since i'm a gamer i removed them. so it should run on your computer unless you got a computer thats from like 10 years ago.. lol. 2. can't remeber off hand, but can't you just click and drag it off to your desktop and it disappears? 3. Support 4. if you mean quit it i believe its just right click in a free area and hit quit. if you don't want it to load with windows i think its right click Settings and on the apperance tab theres a check for "load at windows startup" just uncheck that. 5. not sure about that. 6. post your boot.ini file here and i will take out the entry you dont need. or.. set the themed one as default and set the countdown to about 2 seconds to allow you to switch back to the normal Windows XP startup logo incase something gets screwed up. I wouldn't use StyleXP though. From CNET.. Major Graphics Flaw Threatens Windows. The code is now public... It seems that only Windows products are affected. so all you people that haven't switched.. should switch to FireFox ASAP. Also.. Windows SP2 patched machines should be fine according to CNET. saying that the Flaw is only SP1 users. while FireFox won't completly stop the problem your system should be fine as long as you don't save and view any Jpeg files in a windows product..., this just proves how Flawed Windows is. along with Internet Explorer. Just think.. what if i had made my signature to use this flaw... anyone running IE6 with SP1 would now be infected just by reading this. SWITCH TO FIREFOX! *EDIT* seems like this has been around since September?!? and i never heard of it..... well.. read more here Clicky seems like the code going public to allow the buffer overflow was released today though.. so there will or could be a massive amount of Jpegs that use this exploit released in the next couple days, weeks, months.... and since i seem to be slow, make sure you update update update! and more info about this....
