  1. Your right, that is why I waited 13 Kelsen, your right I have no patience but a simple answer like what you just said I am sure someone else might have known it. Maybe not, thanks for your response. Hey peeps, not to throw gasoline on the fire , but your math appears to be needing some improvements. As I see it: It looks more like 25 hours (and 14 minutes) jaclaz
  2. Just out of curiosity, why? Are they in your personal "blacklist"? jaclaz
  3. Well, NO, it works , but it updates ANOTHER field, the "Comment" one, NOT the "XP Comment" one. just run these on a "clean" .jpg exiftool dst.jpg exiftool -Comment="This is a new comment in the comment field" dst.jpg exiftool dst.jpg exiftool -XPComment="This is a new comment in the XP comment field" dst.jpg exiftool dst.jpg jaclaz P.S.: if this: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?p=66939 is not "accurate" enough, try this: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=15925 and particularly this : http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?...25&start=11 http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exifto...Names/EXIF.html
  4. 4 Gbytes can be formatted in FAT16, but with BIG 64 Kb clusters, in FAT32 or NTFS, it is a choice that is up to you, after having weighted the advantages and drawbacks of each filesystem. You need to test the booting process alone first, as per given links, try fuwi's batch and report. jaclaz
  5. Now, let's talk about this idea of: 1) removing one's post 2) changing the title of the thread to a menaingless something like "resolved" @msfnnewbie you understand that this way : the people that actually tried to help you look like complete fools? anyone having the same problem you had will NOT be able to find this thread? even if they would find it, there is not a solution? The above is - to say the least : unhelpful selfish irritating The idea of a forum is to ask and give help and to LET the (hopefully ) found solution posted, in order for other people with the same or similar problem to find a reference...... jaclaz
  6. Oh, comeon, 5 minutes of Google away : EXIFTOOL: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?p=66939 http://code.google.com/p/xptoiptc/ jaclaz
  7. As long as you do not invert the power lines, the mouse will either work or work not. (CLK is monodirectional, DATA is bidirectional) Even if you QUICKLY try with the power lines inverted, the mouse chip won't be damaged, but it will HEAT quickly, and you know you have inverted them. The PS/2 type of mouse uses ANYWAY +5V, so there won't be problems (there may be problems with a Serial mouse): http://pinouts.ru/Inputs/PS2Mouse_pinout.shtml jaclaz
  8. Is it a USB stick? How big? The error is NONE of these, right? http://www.msfn.org/board/error-0xc000000e...90120&st=25 If yes, it may be a BIOS error. Were you ever able to boot that USB stick on that computer? If NO, there might be a problem that has nothing to do with USB multiboot. In any case, one must make sure that the key is properly partitoned and formatted (i.e. that is bootable) BEFORE trying again the USB_multiboot. This can be either very simple or tricky. Just try using fuwi's batch: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=21702 and report. You may want to take some time and review this too: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...=21955&st=5 jaclaz
  9. Which OS are you using? If NT/2K/XP/2003, under these systems only ONE (the Primary Active) partition is mountable IF the device is seen as "Removable" (like practically all sticks are). You have three choices: 1) find the appropriate manufacturer's tool and "flip" the Removable bit so that the stick is seen as Fixed instead of removable 2) install and use a filter driver in your OS 3) forget about multiple partitions accessible under NT/2K/XP/2003 on Removable device and live with just one partition (this is a limit "by design" of the said OSes) Let's for the moment forget about winsetupfromusb, and partition and make the stick booting. Once you have it working, you can try again the program. Which filesystem do you want to use? FAT16 is inappropriate for a 32 Gb partition. FAT32 is better, but the NT bootsector has sometimes problems with it. NTFS would be the better choice, BUT you risk to wear prematurely the stick. Read this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...119963&st=0 First thing to try is fuwi's batch: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?sho...c=21702&hl= You CANNOT dd.exe a .iso to a USB stick (i.e. you can but you will get an unbootable/unreadable stick). :iso files use CDFS filesystem, USB sticks use "normal" HD filesystems. The only exception are particular sticks that have also a CDROM "part", but then again dd.exe won't work at all on them: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=125138 http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=121502 and you will need anyway the particular tool for the specific chip on the stick. jaclaz
  10. Unfortunately, there is NO way you could have followed the tutorial "letter for letter", as it provides a number of choices that may easily "branch" in one direction or the other. Please post: 1) some details about your hardware and running OS 2) what are you trying to do, EXACTLY (a simple Install XP from USB, a multiboot something, etc.) 3) Which EXACT steps you took 4) which EXACT error you receive (letter per letter and whether it is white on black or white on blue) jaclaz
  11. And they ALL can be connected to bugs in nlite? Usually bugs connected with nlite (or with any app modifying another) happen: 1) WHEN running it 2) IMMEDIATELY when running the modified app A "few days" means that something else is causing those problems. Let's start again with just the problems that happen IMMEDIATELY after installing a nlited source.... jaclaz
  12. ...but if if you have VFD, you can use the allright, without having a "real" floppy. jaclaz
  13. Why can't you dowload one like all the rest of the world? Choose yours: http://www.allbootdisks.com/ http://www.allbootdisks.com/download/me.html Get VFD if you haven't it yet (if you want to modify the floppy images): http://chitchat.at.infoseek.co.jp/vmware/vfd.html jaclaz
  14. Not what you asked, but first thing I replace on ANY Windows, is NOTEPAD. Some alternatives are listed here: http://techrageo.us/2007/01/06/text-editors-for-windows/ TheGUN: http://www.movsd.com/thegun.htm is first choice. jaclaz
  15. Also, and just for the record, there have been some really harsh debate about huntersoft/UDI in the past: http://www.halfdone.org/SOTW/RipSummary.php I don't want to take sides, mind you, but the halfdone.org app works nicely: http://halfdone.com/ukd/ (I use the "old" 1.2 version with the updated files inside latest Beta.) Though not "exactly" what you asked for, there are two exceptionally good programs, SIW: http://www.gtopala.com/ and SIV: http://rh-software.com/ That can detect EVERYTHING on a PC. jaclaz
  16. Also, you can make a Recovery Console CD out of the XP install floppies: http://tips.vlaurie.com/2006/05/23/recover...out-an-xp-disk/ This way you can make it out of the same "edition" (home or Pro): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q310994 Some details/additions here: http://www.boot-land.net/forums/?showtopic=2254 http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=5316 jaclaz
  17. From what you report it seems like the value of systemroot is correct but %systemroot% does not expand to it's value VERY strange. Try this: Would it be possible that somehow the % sign for variable value has been changed to something else? jaclaz
  18. Keep an eye on this: http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/ a 9x version is planned/preliminary version under test: http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/#plans jaclaz
  19. Yep, I tested it in English and Italian. The only "localized" part should be : IF %%B.==Disk. SET DP_disk_sig_%%A=%%D IF %%B.==Volume. IF NOT %%C.==n.. IF NOT %%D.==Ltr. SET DP_disk_letters_%%A=!DP_disk_letters_%%A! %%D IF %%B.==Type. SET DP_disk_bus_%%A=%%C If users of other languages would post the corresponding for: Disk Volume n. Type it should be possible to "widen the intended audience".... jaclaz P.S.: Edit changed line to allow Italian and English
  20. A bettered snippet, that allows to put the diskpart batch commands at the end of the file, indexing them automatically and making it run much faster: @ECHO OFF SETLOCAL ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS FOR /F "tokens=1 delims=[]" %%A in ('FIND /N "::THIS IS START OF DISKPART BATCH COMMANDS::" %~dpnx0') DO SET More_offset=%%A FOR /F "tokens=2,7" %%A IN ('ECHO list disk^|diskpart^|FIND "B"') DO SET DP_disks=!DP_disks! %%A FOR %%A IN (%DP_disks%) DO ( SET /A DP_Line#=%%A*3+%More_offset% FOR /F "skip=8 tokens=1,2,3 delims=: " %%B IN ('MORE +!DP_Line#! %~dpnx0^|diskpart.exe^|FIND /v /i "DISKPART"') DO ( IF %%B.==Disk. SET DP_disk_sig_%%A=%%D IF %%B.==Volume. IF NOT %%C.==n.. IF NOT %%D.==Ltr. SET DP_disk_letters_%%A=!DP_disk_letters_%%A! %%D IF %%B.==Type. SET DP_disk_bus_%%A=%%C ) ) SET DP_disk GOTO :EOF ::THIS IS START OF DISKPART BATCH COMMANDS:: select disk 0 detail disk EXIT select disk 1 detail disk EXIT select disk 2 detail disk EXIT select disk 3 detail disk EXIT select disk 4 detail disk EXIT select disk 5 detail disk EXIT select disk 6 detail disk EXIT Cheers, jaclaz
  21. Sure, keep us informed. I was thinking, since there are actually problems from time to time in PE 1.x (and I guess also in PE 2.x) besides DOS, that having one of those thingies could be a rather inexpensive way to make sure you can actually connect to the network on any machine, something to keep in the toolbox anyway... jaclaz
  22. Try getting a Win32 port of "WHICH", either a compiled one or a batch/vbs equivalent: http://unxutils.sourceforge.net/ http://www.robvanderwoude.com/which.html or since you appear to be using powershell: http://blog.saadware.com/2008/07/10/powers...-which-command/ Try both (from any folder BUT C:\Windows\system32\) WHICH IPCONFIG and WHICH IPCONFIG.EXE jaclaz
  23. Something that may be of use: http://www.codetwo.com/pages/freeware/pst_ghostbuster.php http://www.kopf.com.br/outlook/ http://www.olfolders.de/Lang/English/PSTCopy/pstcopy1.htm http://www.olfolders.de/Lang/English/OLfix/ http://www.runpcrun.com/deleted-emails-outlook-pst (not necessarily useful, just sharing my links on the topic) jaclaz
  24. It strange, however. If you have windows on C:\Windows, these two should be exactly the same: maybe something has changed value to %systemroot%, try running in a console SET SY You should get: jaclaz
  25. See if any of the links here help: http://www.giga-byte.it/download/mb/bios/20332/ If not, try googling for: motherboard_bios_ga-ep35-ds4_f6a.exe jaclaz
