Yep , confirmed. The real value "inside" your post is: timestamp='1360779094' Which should mean: http://ibboard.co.uk/timestamp.php?timestamp=1360779094&tz=0 13/2/2013, 12:11 with GMT-6 whilst bhplt's post is: timestamp='1360811499' http://ibboard.co.uk/timestamp.php?timestamp=1360811499&tz=0 13/2/2013, 21:11 with GMT-6 jaclaz

NOT really. There is must be something buggy in the way the board software manages dates/times. I already noticed it in some other occasions, the issue is normally because the stupid board software replaces the actual date with "today" or "yesterday", sometimes making absurds things, but evidently there is something else . RIght now, I see your first post as posted on the 13th, and bhplt's post on "yesterday" (which here means the 14th), but according to your screenshot you posted the first post on 13 February at 12:11 PM. You then edited it on 13 February at 12:12 PM. bhplt then managed to reply INSTANTLY on 13 February at 12:11 PM (he COULD NOT POSSIBLY have posted at the shown 9:11 PM quoting something you would have posted for the first time 3 hours later ). You were cross-posting/cross-editing at the same time, all within one minute between minute 11 and minute 12. jaclaz

Or get nircmd: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html Which is also useful for a ton other tasks. Which OS? If Vista or 7, check this also: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/how-do-i-copy-shortcuts-to-the-all-users-folders-in-vista-or-windows-7/1857 jaclaz

Sounds like what it would be like to live in a surrealistic film... Naah, that's part of the fun. The original quote is by Giuseppe Prezzolini: from a book published in 1921, "Codice della vita italiana" a perfect snapshot (largely valid still today) of the defects (and features) of the Italians (and consequently of Italy), Chapter VI, 40. Available here: http://neapoliscallsnapoli.ilcannocchiale.it/?TAG=Codice%20della%20vita%20italiana the Google translate is not that bad (or at least it is good enough to appreciate most of the humour and tradegy): http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fneapoliscallsnapoli.ilcannocchiale.it%2F%3FTAG%3DCodice%2520della%2520vita%2520italiana If I may, most probably because it didn't fit on the paper sheet a sentence has ben cut out off the above article, the original read (maybe ): jaclaz

Real , but not "persistent" : http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704681904576317781140034982.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11474311 or maybe it is: http://en.daringtodo.com/2012/10/l-o-v-e-the-finger-will-grace-piazza-affari-for-least-40-years/ let's say that s provisional for some 40 years. You'll learn how often in Italy anything that is "temporary" becomes actually "perpetual" and anything that is "permanent" will be changed within a short period of times. jaclaz

Well, not really "news" , already talked to death around here: Your quote is from the mentioned blog by Nadim Kobeissi: http://log.nadim.cc/?p=78 seemingly from an earlier version, missing Update2 and Update3. jaclaz

Well, your explanation is completely unlike an explanation , post the full link if you want to explain something. BTW that small batch will also open a command prompt window if double clicked or added to a context menu. You might want to use a tool like nircmd: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html instead. Look for it's commands exec, exec2 and execmd http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd2.html#using jaclaz

Question: Where are the clouds? Answer: They are in the sky*. Question: Which colour is the sky? Answer: Blue. Question: Very good, Timmy, do you know some other names for the colour of the sky? Answer: Cyan, Azure. The matter has been established overhearing a fifth grade class. JFYI, azzurro is not really a shade of blue in Italian, it has it's "own dignity", blu (or blue) corresponds to "navy blue". jaclaz *together with Lucy and diamonds OT, but not much :

BUT; as said if these two (or more) "clones" are on the same network, conflicts may (and will) arise, either trivial or "serious". jaclaz -
Batch to Log & Console
jaclaz replied to Dogway's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
No. You need to understand redirection (and the concepts of "standard output" and "standard error" first: http://www.robvanderwoude.com/redirection.php Every program might "decide" to write *something* to standard output and *something else* to standard error, so you should append BOTH standard output and standard error to the log: command >> file 2>&1 jaclaz -
You produce the CoP (Certificate of Property ) that was given to you when you actually paid for your files or - in case of self-produced files - the SoS (Statement of Selfproducing) which is a simple affidavit with the name of the file, the license number of the software you used to produce that (if Commercial) the CoA number of your OS (if Microsoft) and the MD5 of the file. You simply sign it (with two witnesses) and then send it to yourself via officially authorized Post/Mail Service. (to have certainty of the date, attaching a photo of yourself holding the affidavit and a newspaper is entirely optional, but recommended) If your warez pusher legitimate software provider did not give you the CoP at the time of the purchase or you subsequently lost it (or it was stolen from your home by little green men or other malicious beings) , you can produce a RoLoSCoP (Replacement of Lost or Stolen Certificate of Property) very similar to the SoS, and following the same procedure. The difference is only that the Government has the right to shout "Doubt it!" when you produce a RoLoSCoP, in which case you need to bring in three witnesses (and your mom doesn't count). We call this "progress" and "simplification of bureaucracy". You ask silly questions.... jaclaz

To be fair , the good MS guys do provide Server Core option. The way they word it in this article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd184075.aspx however clearly shows how the authors of the article have not fully digested the meaning of the acronym GUI (which means Graphical User Interface), but are also very young, or dumb, or both : Please note the evident surprise that they presume to convey to the reader! I mean, WOW. You will need to type commands one at the time, which is slow. Or use scripts and batch files (which can help you speed up and simplify your configuration tasks by automating them). WOW. You have to consider that a Server version of the OS has not as intended target housewives (with no offence whatever intended to housewives) from Peoria (say), the intended target is IT managers/Administrators (which evidently in MS view were hit by the same dumbifying genetic mutation that affected "end users"). If you scroll a little down, you will learn how Server Core has NOT .NET (which is a good thing BTW), but this means that you also don't have Powershell (as it is senselessly dependent on .Net) so that you have something that should be mainly managed by scripts which misses latest iteration of MS script engine/processor. And, you are further warned that: Again, WOW. For NO apparent reason: jaclaz

Please consider how cars will soon be deemed as "legacy vehicles" by the journalists and - according to them - be in a short time replaced by (touch controlled ) flying saucers , you might want to start a career with a longer expected lifetime . The only remaining issue (in what the visionary expect soon) is of course flying elephants, a misknown evolutional phenomenon that hasn't yet affected mobility, but that might in the near future (if Dumbo was born - clearly out of a nuclear experiment induced genetic mutation - in 1941, imagine, even with a rather flat trend, how many of them will be born in the meantime ) . Till now, and in real world: jaclaz

There are several technologies used in batteries over last years (besides main "families" of metals used in them), it is very difficult to say what is actually "inside the box", so not only it is difficult to say IF something can be done to revive a given battery pack but even IF it is possible WHAT to do specifically is even more elusive. Take some time here, interesting stuff: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/ jaclaz

That is the initial steep of the curve, after you will get the hang of it you will probably start wondering how come that some (not necessarily all ) programmers have this quirk for selling you trifling things as if they were the only geniuses on earth capable of doing that . Seriously, I have seen guys putting together half @§§ed MS Access "custom databases" (actually no more that a few forms and reports) talking as if they were Linus Torvalds or Sergey Brin jaclaz

Issue when cloning XP to identical PC
jaclaz replied to Quaraxkad's topic in Install Windows from USB
Yes and no. You need *something* that will clone/copy over the Disk Signature (or remove drive letter assignment in DosDevices, which I presume is the "small registry trick" you are talking about). And you might well get away with using vshadow and dosdev together with robocopy (in "one pass"). In any case it is the "base" approach which is not "right", if in a networked environment, you may get issues with SID, computer names and what not. If you need to deploy a "same" operating system install to several PC's you normaly use "deploy tools", such as Sysprep, or in the case of different hardware, Offline Sysprep: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showforum=43 (also handy in the case of "same" hardware) jaclaz
