Actually, to avoid the unneccessary licensing nightmare, taking the keyboards apart and using insulating tape is your best option, if that is what you wish to do. I guess I am electronically-biased, so it's not a big deal for me, but it will only take you a weekend's work to disable all the keys. Just uscrew it, put down a piece of masking tape, and screw it back together. Really easy. I know, not much of advice.

That has to be embarassing.

Did you post this just to post this? It makes no sense.

program ideas
zprog replied to tap52384's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
My question is how in the heck are you going to do that? VB? -
What is that "piece of software"?

I need a Free web hosting service
zprog replied to Stuntgp2000's topic in Server - Side Help (IIS, Apache, etc.)
Well, what you are asking for is the almost impossible. There are very few hosting services that are free and have the ad-free status, as well as the requirements that you ask for. The one I use is called IllusionFXNet, but it requires you to submit a well-written application for your site. Most people get denied. Nevertheless, you should try it. The other hosts that I know of (free) usually require you to post in their forum regularly, which means they probably stink. Your best option, if you have a 24-7 connection to the Internet is to buy a junk computer from a yard-sale, outfit it with a bunch of RAM, and install Linux on it to serve your site. That way, you are on your own terms. If you do not have a domain name, No-IP is a great service to take a look at. -
whats the difference?ASP,XML.
zprog replied to matrix0978's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
On thing I suggest, is to dump learning HTML (although you should still know it, if that makes any sense), and to start learning XHTML, because it will be the future of the Internet. Eventually, the integration between the data-storing components of XML (eXtensible Markup Language) and the formatting concepts of XHTML (eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language) will overcome the often confusing XSL stylesheets (used to format the output of XML files) by giving them a markup remarkably similar to that of HTML. ASP is Microsoft's server-side scripting language, just like JSP is Sun's, PHP is Zend's, and IVA is mine . I've worked with ASP and PHP, but I prefer PHP, not only because of its open-source status and the huge support community (even though ASP still does have quite a lot of support), but also because I like the C-style languages. ASP mainly uses Visual Basic Script, which makes it easy to do simple things, difficult to do more complex things, and impossible to do things that are very advanced. I haven't done any JSP yet, but I assume it is going to be much like Java, so there is definitely a large number of built-in things, just like Java. If I was hosted on a server that offered JSP, I would probably check it out, buit for now, if you want to make powerful Internet applications, learn PHP and XHTML. Maybe throw in some database concepts of MySQL, as well. -
Where is that site? :

Sorry about replying to my own post. I will try not to do it again. The thing I am worried about is that I've had that Anonymous Java classes topic up for a while, and I would still like an answer. I guess in vain am I waiting.

Yeah, this forum is definitely not getting enough activity. Something is wrong. Mods?

Autoconnect Dsl when windows xp starts

Doesn't DSL use PPP, so you have to put your password up? -
That's easily done.

Well, if it's going to be that large, then it will look blurry overall.

I don't know about a theme, but you are welcome to use a background made exclusively by me, for me, for the promotion of me.
-
You like it? That's weird. I figured since you want a wallpaper, it would be 1024 x 768 pixels. Tell me the width and I'll scale it for you. You want it to be 780 px wide? EDIT: What is the deal with all the anime stuff? I see that a lot nowadays. People really seem to like those Far-Eastern-style cartoons.

OK, I am no graphic artist. To tell you the truth, it stinks. Nevertheless, here it is.

Yeah, I'm kind of doing 10 things at once. Let me see what I can do. I am a PS beginner, though, so don't expect any miracles. I am probably going to have to use the manual 7 times before I am through. If I can't get it done tonight, I'll try to finish it tomorrow.
-
Tell me exactly what you want. I am not a graphic artist, so I can't decide for myself. How big do you want the final image to be? EDIT: In fact, since I see you are pretty advanced at this, could you create a big bmp file in the arrangement of the pictures that you want, and maybe scale it down (so that I have a template to work off)? I just don't want to waste time on something that you are not going to like.

If you have never seen the movie The Independence Day, then you would not understand this. I really like these three: link = http://ifaq.wap.org/science/id4lessons.html

Ah, so you need blending. You're right. Maybe not paint. Well, post away. Let me have a look-see.
-
On the contrary, you do have some pretty wonderful tools there (like Paint!). Depending on the content of the images (and other subjective reasons), I may be able to do what you wish. You can just post and attach the images, telling what must be done.

Or maybe he is trying to create a home network? He said that he wanted to make his computer a server. He didn't say that he wanted to make it a web server. If you want to make your computer a server server, then I suggest getting a good book on Windows XP Professional (if that is an OS that you lease a licence to).
