  1. Welcome to the MSFN forums, you are on the right place . Update your BIOS first. When you don’t have luck with that then replace the battery.
  2. Most "non-web" shops will help you when it’s 12 days after warranty... They will avoid lawsuits, and yes, you can win one with a big chance: "Life expectations were to short!"
  3. Well, if you just bought it it´s not cheap, how old is that card anyway?
  4. Next time only ask question about legal software... --- Topic Closed ---
  5. I noticed that some laptops have build in card readers that can’t be disabled, this info here could come in handy. Thank you two, stans4m and jaclaz .
  6. Did you remove any thing from Office or XP? Do you try to update? Is your date set well?
  7. It could be the fault of indexing service or the search service. Disable them by typing in the run command: services.msc, and disable those services and see if it helps. Other then that it could be the Virus-scanner...
  8. The 3800+ will do 2.4-2.5GHz indeed... or you will have a really bad version...
  9. A copy, that would be illegal... and they are not sold in every country too... Any way, it’s better to make your own W2K or XP with nLite, just kick out the thing you are sure about that don’t break any thing, on the other hand people are very helpful in the nLite forums .
  10. It must be a driver problem, or not well-set BIOS. Do you have those 2 Seagates in RAID and if so, is every thing set well in the BIOS?
  11. There are cooling liquids that don’t react with neutrons by the way ...
  12. Like I said here... I think the extra 15 bucks will be a good deal although it only gives you 10% more speed and the price is 20% higher. I would personally Overclock the new CPU to 2.5-2.7GHz...
  13. I don´t .
  14. This is exactly what Vista does... Take a look at the nLite forum here on MSFN, you could make your OS lighter by kick out unused drivers and parts of 2K/XP. For your GeForce 440MX I would use drivers from Omega by the way, check them out on www.guru3D.com... Welcome to MSFN by the way .
  15. Only difference that you see between the E6xx0 series and the E4xx0 or Pentium 21x0 is the FSB, 1333/1066MHz vs. 800MHz, and the cache size, 2/4MB vs. 2MB vs. 1MB. So, if you REALY are on a budged, then skip the E4xx0 line and go directly for a Pentium 2180 CPU, those will be out very soon and work on 2GHz for sub 100 US$. By the way, you didn’t like my advice?:
  16. I think I was still sleeping here... You are right...
  17. Next time disconnect the reader until XP is installed, that would be the fastest way. Why don’t you just quick format the drive? That takes just 1 minute or so . Any way, moving this topic to the XP forum...
  18. 2 VGA cards that "work" together simply said, but since you don’t use more then 2 screens and don’t play games I would leave the SLI what it is. SLI is a standard made by nVidia by the way, if it was ATI made his own Crossfire technology and HP uses there VooDoo chip to combine the 2 technologies. Lookhere, at this moment, d.d. 10 Sep. 2007, it’s 200 US$. With an update of the BIOS, all will be fine, even Native Command Queuing (NCQ) for hard disks will work. It was NOT ASUS fault, but they wrote something on there site to warn customers who could have problems. ASUS just disabled some options to avoid these problems until iNTEL cleared things up. I would check out the GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L and the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 together for 380 US$ (+ tax) + shipping .
  19. I thought it uses the BIOS checksum to identify the system, but I think it has the same BIOS version so yes, that would make sense that you don’t need to re-activate your XP license...
  20. Ow, that part, yes, the E6600 is still King and Master in OC world because of it’s 1066MHz FSB speed although the Q6600 is coming closer...
  21. In this case it would be a HP I presume, and those 2 systems have the same price aprox..
  22. Hi Fred, Thank you for the pictures, I’m sure people will like them. The buzzing sound could be electrical discharge from your card to the PSU or the other way around. Since the voltage is low, I would not pay to much attention to it. By the way, that’s a long Video card you have there... I saw some reviews on the Thermaltake PSU, they used a lot of good components in it...
  23. I would say E6600 without hesitating.
  24. I got a different feeling here, thought you had a messed up drive again .
  25. Indeed, you can see when it’s a pre-owned (what a word ) CPU, a 1GHz for example stays in 100 US$ so those ones I presume are new while the 933 goes for 11 bucks or so... Would be cool if they chip international, could come in handy .
