Wow, PSUs are expensive over there! Check this one out from Chieftec, specs. This will be enough for a wile, t has an efficiency of 65-70%, while more expensive ones have 80-85% but you can’t have everything for that price. I see it has 2 year warranty as well... By the way, I’m for 99% sure it comes with the cooler.

Set voltage to 1.85-1.9V of the RAM, timing settings on 5-5-5-15. That´s normal for that RAM. Also there is a setting for 1T or 2T, set that on 2T...

A bit late but I found Recuva, free ware and works great.

You can give us the specs of your RAM, so we can help you out with that. It’s good to hear that you "fixed" it with the BIOS update, but I would not trust it to much...

I would think about a bad contact with the PCI sloth or a dying soundcard...

You were talking about a very tight budged, so I was aiming on not expensive boards and they come with integrated VGA. A motherboard with integrated VGA isn´t by necessary less good then a motherboard with no integrated VGA, they have in general more options for PCI/PCI- cards. No, there isns´t so much diference, but most of the people here that have a tight budged want to OC a little (altrough they say they don´t ). At stock speeds I would say AMD, but when you OC it´s all iNTEL at this moment. No, there is not so much difference between 667 and 800MHz, even the prices are about the same. Some motherboards like the ones with i845/846 series chipsets only support 667MHz of RAM, and if you like to gamble you could try 800MHz on it. As you can read on internet, a lot of people had problems to use 800MHz DDR on older chipsets, even when the BIOS supported it. If you buy a motherboard with a newer chipset, then 800 or even 1066MHz DDR2 will work fine. From the 2 sites you linked I would pick one of these - GIGABYTE N650SLI-DS4; o Supports official 1333MHz FSB CPUs o Onboard EEE1394 (firewire 400) o A lot of upgrade options o Solid capacitors, good PCB - GIGABYTE 945P-DS3 (rev. 3.3!); o Supports official 800MHz FSB CPUs, but with the newer revision of the P945 it can handle 1066MHz FSB CPUs with ease. You can boot with 1333MHz FSB CPUs but it could be that it doesn’t run stable. o It´s cheap and not bad at all! o Solid capacitors, good PCB Not bad, but the E4500 isn’t that much faster then a E2180, it has 10% more “power” and double the cache witch makes it way more expensive. I would spend that extra money on a better motherboard, for example one with an iNTEL P35 chipset and a ICH9R (yes, always the RAID version). Go directly for 2GB RAM, just a brand 667 or 800MHz module. No need for words like “Ultra”, “Mega”, “Super” or “Xtreme” here . How much will cost that 7800GT used buy the way? 2GB isn’t that extreme these days and would advice it. You don’t need an i965 based motherboard, were did you get this from? Did you forget about the PSU by the way? --- EDIT --- Check out this mobo, I think it’s the best option for it’s price: GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R, the factory link can be found here.

medicsix, you posted in the games section; I moved it to the hardware hangout . For what games you want to use this server? Dual Xeon CPUs is a bit overdone I would say, especially when it’s a dedicated server.

Hi volcanus, I can say its hangin´ great there, so wassup over there in your hood bro? Nice to have you around, I hope you enjoy your time here...

Hi abdurrahman, Welcome to the forums. Your English isn’t that bad at all to start with but I’m sure it will improve more over time here on MSFN.org. I think you are talking about software engineers don’t forget that Microsoft can use good marketing people too; this is how they became so big ... Any way, enjoy the forums and see you around.

Overdone, I don’t see any realistic number in that presentation. But it nicely put together .

Yup I agree, and don’t forget the multi CPU/core and new CPU instruction set support here!

This makes me think... It must be a printer problem then, remember that not all printers drivers work flawless on Vista, I would try another printer if you can.

Powerpoint 2003 SP3 cannot save as Powerpoint 97
puntoMX replied to Preacher666's topic in Microsoft Office
Then it’s just a registry setting if you used GPEDIT. I’m sure this will be useful for other members with the same problem, thank you for posting... -
No problem, as long as I don’t have to speak your language . We can read between the lines. You are picking not a budget board there, in fact it’s one of the most expensive (not server or workstation ) motherboards you can buy with onboard VGA. It´s almost the price of this baby: http://www.nakupi.net/buy.php?&productId=7073 But you are a bit stuck on cheap motherboards with that store, only they offer ASRock motherboards, not that bad but just a bit less then Gigabyte. I would leave the Biostar motherboards were they are; just cheap build PCB and not so good components, although they are working hard to get better... If you get a 33/35 series chipset then get the RAID versions! That motherboard I posted by the way is about 55€.

Inserting an index entry into index $0 of file 25
puntoMX replied to paniclazar's topic in Windows XP
I would do the following: The other 2 partitions should be okay, if the files were not saved under the user directory, then you should be able to copy those files from the system partition (C: i presume) to another partition but you have to do this as a second/slave drive in another computer. If that doesn’t help, format the hard disk and install a fresh XP. After that install all the drivers as usual. Use R-studio or similar program to recover the deleted data with wildcards like *.DOC for example. -
When I see that there are “better” alternatives for free, I would think twice to *"buy" a 50US$ program a year (single user version). * You don’t even own it, it just stops working after one year till you drop another 50US$ or so.

Thanx for the info, I know virtual memory is different then a swap file, even if you would have 16GB installed, most programs require a swap file. Will take a look at the new Diskeeper, I’m sure they have a trail version somewhere . The problem I had with CACLS is that people need to access the programs with shortcuts, but never got it right set, eg. Shortcut gave an "access denied" or similar error. Never tried XCACLS, so I could try that. The cybercafés don’t have servers by the way, so software like SiteKiosk and others will not work (Still planning to use it in the future). The page file, is stored on the system partition again by the way, I checked what zxian posted and it’s true indeed; it doesn’t cost me more space nor will it take more time to restore the image...

Indeed, some stories got mixed up on the net . The XP versions that I got here in Mexico are still the “older” versions that will ask for the key when installing, so I wasn’t sure about it.

Not expensive and good, then I would look at these: CPU: Pentium dual core E2180 2GHz Good low cost CPU, can be OCed over the 3GHz with stock cooling and no voltage raise. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 (rev. 6.6) Has solid capacitors around the hot aria eg. Socket zone, so it should last longer. You can OC the E2180 on this motherboard easily to 2.67GHz Memory: Simple DDR2 667MHz 1.8v RAM would do on this motherboard, no need for more expensive RAM. I would take a look at the value line of ADATA and Kingston. VGA Card: Take a look at the ATi 1950GT/Pro too, they should be dirt cheap by now, especially now ATi announced there new X3xxx series, witch will be released in about 2 weeks from now. A 430W PSU would be safe, if you care about how much watts it sucks from the power outlet then take a look at the Antec EarthWatts or some green power from Coolermaster. They are not modular, so if you want that then go for a Crosair HX520… Any questions more? Schoot .

Remember that nVidia is planning to release there 8800GTS based on the G92 core on the 3rd of December... 8800GTS G92 65nm 128 256bit 512MB VP2 3-12 8800GTS G92 65nm 128 256bit 1024MB VP2 3-12 And there is a new revision of the older 8800GTS as well, still based on the G90 core but with 112 shaders...

Just some side information, but the new licences that will come out for XP and Vista will have no "key", they generate there hardware key but you need to activate your windows. I could be wrong, just let me know if I am . EDIT: Never mind, forget what I was posting here .

I know drives are cheap, an 80GB will cost me about 40 US$ + TAX here, but I’m starting my business in a few weeks and cash reserves are low now. Time to restore my System drive now will be about 3 minutes vs. the complete drive, including 200-220GB of games, will take me 50 minutes and that’s unacceptable when the internet/cybercafés are full. People will see an empty PC and I need to tell them I don’t have space, so they walk away. Believe me, I have been there . I could throw in more ram and keep the page file smaller too. in this case the page file is stored at the beginning of partition too, so only the head has to skip the first 10GB, not that much. If it were high-performance workstations or server I would do like you suggest. By the way, additional wear isn’t that much bigger, a fragmented drive would be worse and you know it. Another thing you have to keep in mind is that it’s easier to lock away a complete partition in comparison to just a folder. I was searching for programs that could lock away folders from users with the possibility to access the programs on it by a shortcut, but until now I didn’t find any thing like that. So, what I do know is just hide the drive icon from the users. If you have any ideas on that, I’m wide open for it . By the way, seems I started to highjack this topic, sorry for that...
