  1. Great to see this kind of stuff online. I used before a MSDNAA account, but this is even easier to get all stuff.
  2. As of HDD corruption might be possible with high PCI bus speed I can do some experimental tests with PCI bus speeds up to 42 MHz. Sorry no tests results yet, I spent most time translating Revolutions Pack Lite to Dutch.
  3. No it has not, read the first post and check my switches. If you would have read my post before replying to it, you would have known I can start Coverdesigner just fine from Start Menu. So no problem ok
  4. Yes, it's a bit annoying. I'll disable installation of these sounds by default in next pack. @Geri. Whenever a new update for Nero 7 comes out I'll try to create a lite version for it. Unless Nero comes with a new working installer that has proper unattended installation support, better component selection and that can do a clean uninstall if necessary
  5. I was also suprised such an important fix was not yet published on the net. However today noone wants to use Windows 95, since we have Windows 98SE with 98SE2ME right
  6. Ok, sorry for all this trouble. I didn't know anything about Windows 95. Never used it AFAIK.
  7. What about esdi_506.pdr included with Windows 95? If patching is not very difficult it would be great to create also a Windows 95 patch. There might be some hobbyists still using Windows 95. Does Windows 95 support FAT32 anyway?
  8. I hope these fixes can get patched properly on Windows 98. Especially the Shell32.dll and Explorer.exe patches are important. One is even listed as critical! On Secunia.com is a nice overview of current vulnerabilities in all Windows OS's. Here's current graph with Secunia advisories for Windows 98 and for Windows XP: Windows 98SE: Windows XP Professional: As you can see most vulnerabilities for Windows 98SE were issued in 2005.
  9. i'm having troble with inno setup, i haven't worked with it before.. this what i get: fact is i don't know where should the main source of nero7 file be, and if it should be extracted or what? i have extracted and putted into the directory where the scripts are, then i opened the Nero7Lite_english_pub file, added: OutputBaseFilename=neras7 appname=nero appvername=7 DefaultDirName={pf}\nero 7 DefaultGroupName=nero and wanted to compile and then the error came.tnx You have to merge the language script with the main script before building. I use a batch file with the following command: copy /b /y nero7Lite_base_pub.iss+nero7Lite_english_pub.iss nero7Lite_eng.iss The script goes into Project folder with also Setup bitmap files and icon. All Setup files go into separate sub-folders (look up the script for info where to place which files). You also need to add the ISSI scripts into \ISSI subfolder.
  10. It is extremely confusing because all Microsoft hotfixes are cumulative, it means higher minor version number contains all fixes from the lower version number. The proposed numbering breaks this rule. See General information about Windows 98 and Windows 98 Second Edition hotfixes General information about Windows Millennium Edition hotfixescontains the same statement. My suggestion is to modify version 4.10.2225 only (forget about 4.10.2222, nobody needs it), and name it 4.10.1.2225. 4.10.2226 could be 4.10.1.2226 if anybody needs it. 4.10.2186 could be 4.10.1.2186 and 4.90.3000 could be 4.90.1.3000. This would clearly indicate different versions branch for drivers with LLXX's patch. But - it is nice to discuss about the version numbers but nobody verified 100% functionality on different disks and with different chipsets yet. This is much more important. Petr I don't agree about Version numbering not being first priority. We must assist that we don't get any confusing numbering in testing phase. I didn't know about the extra digit that could also get placed before the buildnumber. I definetely vote for this numbering method About testing. I'm already backing up my stuff right now, before I can run some tests on my system with 250 GB UDMA-6 HDD.
  11. README.TXT opens for reading whenever one installs the driver. Posted here: http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#9SU and here: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=46581 * Unofficial Windows 98 SE > 137 GB Hard Disk IDE Driver ESDI_506.PDR 4.10.2227 Fix: http://www.msfn.org/board/?showtopic=78592 Direct download [80 KB, English]: http://www.mdgx.com/files/48BITLBA.EXE Keep up the good work. MDGX, for your information original ESDI_506.PDR 4.10.2222 was used. So numbering this LLXX patch 4.10.2227 would people think the ESDi_506.PDR 4.10.2225 and 4.10.2226 hotfixes are included. However I have an idea how to create custom version numbering for special patches. Why just not increase 2nd digit? With this method you also overwrite newer hotfix files. However in this case I think it's necessary, since it solves a very bad problem: file corruption. For example LLXX patch for esdi_506.pdr 4.10.2222 would become 4.10.2232 and LLXX patch for esdi_506.pdr 4.10.2225 would become 4.10.2235. This clearly shows a difference between the official Microsoft hotfixes and LLXX patch. Microsoft won't bring out any new patches anyway
  12. OK, I decided to put main script and English language file online. Might be useful for creating customized installers. However I don't assist in creating customized builds. http://members.chello.nl/h.nekeman1/web/Ne...etupScripts.zip Have fun
  13. I have two HDD's in my system. One 40GB and a 250GB Maxtor Diamond Max 10 ATA HDD. It's special for it's ATAPI-6 (133 MB/s) Interface. most HDD's use ATAPi-5 (100 MB/s). I'll try to backup all stuff necessary to the 40GB HDD and DVD's. Than I'll be able to do some Windows 98 tests with the 250 GB HDD. However I'm not sure about my mainboard. It's a VIA KT333 mainboard. Does this motherboard automaticly enable 48-bit lba support or only after I install the VIA ide drivers in Windows 98?
  14. NL is the Dutch Version of Unofficial Windows 98Se Service Pack. I have not completed a 2.1a updated package yet. It's not all that fun to create Service Packs for an OS you don't use anymore for daily use. However I'm currently processing and documenting all Dutch updates for use in a updated version of the Windows 98SE Service Pack.
  15. maybe he is on vacation. I just hope nothing bad happens to him. maybe it's time I started a new topic similar to the "Where is Gurgelmeyer" thread in the Win2k Hotstream forum. It has been almost eight months since 98se SP 2.1a was posted. Gape was Last Active Yesterday, 11:03 AM I think he is busy right now. However the project is documented very well thanks also to other members. It shouldn't be too hard to start working on a update.
  16. Good point to first release a standard patch for Windows 98SE. The best would be to test on a clean Windows 98SE machine with harddiscs larger than 137 GB. However we must not forget to test also HDD's smaller than 137 GB! Especially HDD's <8GB and <32GB HDD's should get tested, since these use different specifications.
  17. I have had issues using Resource Hacker on some Windows DLL files. Meaby it was just my fault, but I don't use it anymore for that reason. Exescope is very useful since it edits NE files as well. Restorator is good for me since it allows do do large copy paste operations. However the interface feels not very intuitive to me. I can say Restorator is since 2005 version more useful than ResHacker.
  18. Hi In order to manage this project easier for the next version of Nero 7 Lite I'll merge some language packs together. Downloadsize will be larger, however the main purpose of the pack will still stand. An easier way of installing Nero 7 without all the bloat. I'll also look into adding Nero StartSmart, Nero Recode and Nero Vision Express. However I need to make sure DirectShow Filters won't get messed up I also got some questions about Nero 7 won't register manually. Try to remove the following key from registry before installation of Nero 7 Lite. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ahead\Installation\Families\Nero 7\Info
  19. I compare those flash drives as using a floppy disk. You precisely knew when not to pull out, when some program was trying to read or write to it. However with these new flash drives you don't hear anything. My own 20-in-1 drive has only one miserable led to tell me when it's in use.
  20. My experience with Nero 7's msi is that it uses part of older Nero 7.0.8.2 installation structure. Normally I extract newer Nero 7 over old package to overcome this kind of issues.
  21. Everything is now up and running Changed revision to 1.2.0.2 Fixed minor bug in unattended language selection. This took me 90 minutes to compile and 2 hours to upload
  22. Update: 06/24/06 - Nero 7 Lite (rev. 1.2.0.1) - Upgraded Nero components to Nero 7.2.3.2b - Fixed missing IsoFS.dll when Nero API was not selected. - Default Language is now installed by default when not specified on unattended install - Nero Shop URL points to local Nero Webshop if available. Only Dutch, English and Micro build now. The rest will follow soon
  23. I think Daemon Tools is fine for now. Because Copy Protection is getting more advanced it takes more time to develop workarounds it's not that bad they ask for some money. Remember you also need to pay for a license to use Nero 7 Lite
  24. Yes, I'm working on it now. If you have a suggestion regarding Nero 7 Lite setup please tell me now. @ddShadow, if you would like to translate Nero 7 Lite Setup to Slovenian PM me for instructions.
  25. Hi ddShadow, does Nero 7 Lite actually install and work properly on Windows XP x64? What about this registry key. Does Nero Lite Setup not register the product with the name and serial given?
