@spoof, heilmaenner On which OS did you get this error. Please provide more info I don't know if this works but copying neroinst.db to Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Lib might work: NeroInst.zip Test on Windows Vista with "Nero 7 Lite English Micro Test" please and report back. Thats the whole community idea is about.

All specific language versions are delayed until Vista Bugs are fixed. I'm sorry for the delay, but until then you can use the english version, or if you didn't have problems previous version, which is unfortunately not downloadable anymore. I have a English testversion set up for Vista users to test. I hope problems are gone now: Nero-7.7.5.1_english_micro_test.exe I need feedback, since I can't test on Vista myself.

Hey mate, thanks sincerely for the latest release. Can you confirm if the above Nero serial verification bug has been fixed by Ahead in the latest v7.7.5.1 release? Can we finally put the /SERIAL switch back in our installers? Thanks again I haven't had any complains about that yet with Nero Lite 7.7.5.1. Only latest Nero 7 Lite doesn't work on Vista yet. That's not a big deal since most legit users don't have a Vista copy yet.
-
Have you tried to use Nero 7 Lite with Windows XP compatibility mode? I have no money to purchase myself a copy of Windows Vista, so Windows Vista is a no go for me.
-
Nero 7 Lite 7.7.5.1 English is now available from my website. If all turns out ok other language versions will follow later.
-
I'm sorry but Nero 7.7.5.1 is delayed to Friday. I finally completed merging Nero 7 Lite and Micro scripts using the Inno Setup PreProcessor. The good news is that I don't have to duplicate stuff anymore so there will be no delay between future Nero Lite and Micro releases. Another noticeable change is that several Nero Lite language packs will get merged into one. Testing doesn't show any anomalies on my test system, so maybe this time Nero 7 is finally a stable release

I have upgraded the WordPress CMS to 2.1, I'm not sure but it might have broken the download. However I'm planning on upgrading all stuff to Nero 7.7.5.1 today anyway. If necessary you can always download from Softpedia or use the regular Nero package.

98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
Acheron replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
The problem is the cpl doing some actions on the background. However any changes to the operating system must store their information somewhere. Most Windows GUI settings are stored in registry. With SysInternals regmon it's possible to see what changes are made when running the sysdate.cpl command. These changes can then get exported from registry, modified to be useful in a inf and voila, a system update without hitting any button. I'm currently working on Nero 7 Lite, but when I have some time I might actually go investigate this myself. -
Well, I actually have three replies for this: 1. I do not run Vista, nor do I expect to have access to a copy anytime soon. As a result, I cannot guarantee Vista support. I will make a best-effort attempt to fix reported problems, but such fixes may be delayed or require assistance from someone that does use Vista. Any Vista users should keep this in mind. 2. The latest version of Inno Setup contains a lot of Vista compatibility updates. I don't know if any of them would relate directly to this issue, but it's possible that this version (which will be used to create the 1.5 installer) may fix the problem on its own. 3. More likely, though, this seems related to another problem that users reported when running as a standard user under Windows XP. Standard users do not have access to write to HKCR registry tree. I have an idea of how to fix this, but it would appear to require duplicating nearly 500 lines worth of registry entries, and I'd prefer not to go that route. I'm still exploring other possible fixes. I'm going to try to have something in place for the final 1.5 release, but again, I cannot make any guarantees. In the meantime, you may want to try MagicAndre1981's suggestion. By default universal Extractor setup will require Admin rights when using latest Inno Setup. As an Administrator i wouldn't like to see standard users install Shell extensions, change file associations etc. However it should be possible to run Universal Extractor as a standard user when installed by an Admin. No need for workarounds.

3rd party or Nero apps (recode, vision) need NeroAPI, too? Only 3rd party applications I think. Nevertheless most home users don't need it.
-
As I'm working on the new version, Nero 7.7.5.1 is different than previous updates. The main program is converted to Unicode, but to allow programs who depend on the current Nero API to continue working also the ANSI stuff is installed. To keep NeroAPI working next Nero 7 Lite version would be several MB's bigger to install, a no go for me. If you use some software that makes use of the NeroAPI please stay away from new Nero 7 Lite versions.

maybe that was the time it took it to decompress the tons of files. have you re-downloaded again? maybe there was some early problems and they fix the intaller. extrange that a virus came with it, but its good to know that you got a clean installer like myself. Nope, SetupX was running at 90-95% for 20 minutes doing nothing. Unfortunately I'm forced to run it since an Administrative Install will only be created after doing a regular installation, thanks to Ahead. The only thing I can think of that would cause such a delay is lack of disk space on my System Drive (less than 1GB free), but 20 minutes waiting is way too much.

I have had some trouble installing Nero 7.7.5.1. When I run the installer it took 20 minutes for the Welcome screen to appear
-
I don't have any issues using Flashget 1.80? However I do hope this package get updated

I will start a new topic for Nero 7.7.5.1 Lite when its ready. Too much offtopic talk here

I thought nLite was only allowed for personal use?

98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
Acheron replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
Win98/ME users do NOT really need the Tzchange.exe utility, Acheron. Tzchange.exe is a command-line tool (not a GUI tool like Tzedit.exe). Win98/ME users are better off using the Time Zone Editor tool (tzedit.exe) as noted in MS article 914387 to make or edit time zone registry settings. OK, so if you update the registry entries, you don't have to run the command "RUNDLL32.EXE SHELL32.DLL,Control_RunDLL TIMEDATE.CPL", am I right. The only thing I can think of is to reboot the system? -
98 FE + 98 SE + ME updates + patches + (hot)fixes
Acheron replied to MDGx's topic in Pinned Topics regarding 9x/ME
MDGx, wouldn't it be possible to backport the tzchange.exe utility to Windows 98? I have looked up Tzchange.exe with Dependancy Walker, all was ok. So the only issue is the Version check. Unfortunately Kernel Update Project didn't work on this file, even by setting it with kupver.ini to Windows XP. However it should be possible to remove the version check. -
Thank you very very much Martin. I didn't think it was possible, but this is very nice

Win-98: Large hard drives with small cluster size -?
Acheron replied to 98 Guy's topic in Windows 9x/ME
I had once set up Windows 98 using 0.5k clustersize on a 500MB partition. This lead to very slow performance while using defrag and scandisk. I now use at least 4KB for the system partition and 32KB clustersize for data partitions for optimal performance. -
I would realy like my username to get changed from hp38guser to Acheron However that account is already taken, but it seems inactive to me. Can you please change it for me?

I have switched over to Windows Live Desktop Mail Beta and Windows Live Messenger 8.1 Beta today and it works quite nice. I was able to import all stuff from OE6 and MSN over to my account. Altough the interface is modern, it's still based on the old but good Outlook Express. With now everything connected to my Windows Live account this is a big improvement over the old version. The only thing missing is the offline calendar, but including it as well would make it too competitive with bigger brother Microsoft Outlook.

By forcing to install everything at T12 you actually install in the Default User profile. So every new user you create on the system will have all programs available as were it an single user system. I'm currently processing all setup programs to force creating their stuff into the UserProfile\Appdata folder, so everything can get managed centralized I will post instructions on my website when I have time.

98 (FE), 98 SP1, 98 SE + ME SHELL32.DLL fix
Acheron replied to MDGx's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Many thanks to Anonymous author! This was the fix I was hoping for, to make an end to all workarounds used to prevent the hanging issue on explorer file deletion -
Well, I'm using Windows XP Professional, but afaik Windows XP Home does take over Group policy Settings. The only stuff missing is the gpedit.msc and abilities to take GPO from a network computer. It's worth a try I guess. To make use of these options people can easily see what actually runs on their systems, so no hidden tricks are played
