ok so first, yes i used my own wmp10.inf (with english one it prompts an error) this is interesting but... what lines?my regtweak include preferences and first run so i decided to import them sometime in runonce as i said my space saved it's 10mb (before nlite), only removed wmp9 and codecs and added wmp10 cab and wmp10setup (standart compression).

i remember seeing a vulnerability in the recovery console that let a guy with a win2k install disk own administrative priviledges... do any1 know if this was solved with sp2 or before?

well i decided to give an oportunity to this method. after first test (unsuccessful) i noticed an important thing and why it would NEVER run properly. have you tried to extract the files from wmp10.cab and run wmp10.inf? it will popup an error message similar to "The Software you are trying to install is not signed." so firstly you need to add wmp10.cat to the list of files needed. after that you are able to install wmp10 but... another thing i have noticed it's that first run dialog it's displayed as always and need to be avoided with a regtweak. finally the most annoying for me it's that no wmp shortcuts are created on my start menu. i'll deeply take a look later on my next "unattended test" space saved it's about ~10mb until building the iso file in the root dir after removing wmp9 and wmp9 codecs.

well i personally don't agree with any type of piracy but... i frecuently download software or games to take a look at them, then if i really like some1 i buy it. it can't ben considered piracy because (at least in spain) you can download any file if you delete it after 48h. a similar rule can be applied to music, for me it's too expensive buy any CD for 24€ so i listen mp3 frecuently and then i support the author i really like buying his/her CD. other thing are cracks or keygens that i consider "inmoral" because they really hurt small software companies.

same as with other drivers. what i do it's download the latest nforce drivers, then extract them with winrar for example and you'll see many folders with .inf files inside. place them in your $1\Drivers dir and then point them in winnt.sif. works perfect

ok i found this interesting but as said the big problem i see it's question of size. probably will take more than necessary before and same result can be achieved without removing wm9 (safer). anyway it's a nice job and hope that this can help some1 to create another method to replace wmp9 with wmp10 saving space. offtopic: i thought a time ago ... what about replacing wmp9 files with dummy (0-byte) cabbed files?? this should give 4/5 precious mb extra in an unattended installation

i've finally built a xp installation that calls 1 cd and 1 dvd if they exist. now i install xp with my programs, office2003+photoshop, and the game medal of honor spearhead. i'll give instructions soon

mp3 can be a solution but not all the phones support it. mine for example (ericsson T610) only support AMR format and i think most of the phones are similar. google for "amrconverter" B)

ok if i understand well you want to know what is the purpose of winrar.reg. the answer is that i use a reg file to add my preferences for winrar, for example my default compression profile and also it's used to associate rar files with that app. if you open winrar you can go to options>import/export>export config and you'll obtain a similar file. hope it helps edit: the lines should look like REG ADD %KEY%\045 /VE /D "WinRAR 3.40" /f REG ADD %KEY%\045 /V 1 /D "%CDROM%\software\WinRAR\wrar340.exe /s" /f REG ADD %KEY%\045 /V 2 /D "REGEDIT /S %CDROM%\software\WinRAR\winrar.reg"note that there isn't any space between %CDROM% and \software in the 3rd line. ps: if you want a copy of my winrar.reg file you can pm me

i never tested it but i think not, reason it's that compatibility it's deeply integrated, what you remove with nlite it's the file properties option.

files are from the english lang. probably you can use it but you'll notice changes in the lang of menus and probably problems of versions mismatch anyway you can use the resources to replace your own files
