This sounds to me like a damaged monitor. (or a monitor running at too high a res... but as its happening in boot screens..) I know this wont fix your problem speedz, but try your monitor on another pc if you can, it sounds like its busted. sometimes you can damage a monitor by using too high a res and refresh rate on it. also try this, unplug the monitor from the pc, have the power on and go into the monitor menu and hit "restore defaults" or restore factory settings whatever they call it on your monitor. long shot but it might work. also.. does your monitor work fine on another pc then or not?

uninstall all third party icon programs, delete autorun.inf files. Reboot! you have to reboot to see changes. alternatively, use a third party app to change the icons back.. i think microangelo will do this, right click on the drive.. select "appearance" and select the default icon. reboot to see effects again. Welcome to the forums mishac!

if the website is anything to go buy its going to be a pile of crudola. but ill try anything once.. ill see what its like for laughs

they arent slower really... but comparing price for speed.. at a guess a 48X EXTERNAL burner will cost more than 10X the amount of an internal. in other words.. cheaper to buy THREE internal ones and throw the slow old burner in your spare parts box (then there will be room for a new drive) OR put the slow drive in your crap pc and put the new fast drive in the other crap pc (lol ok i had to have a joke at your expense) if you have a burner in one of your network pc's you dont need a burner in another networked machine as you can burn across the network. we do it at college.. i have a movie or something on my drive.. another user wants it .. they just burn it at their machine.. no need to copy it to their own Hard drive at all.
-
if you look closely you can see i networked that bottle so you can all get a share! lol

threre are members on this board in the USA who build and sell computers for a living.,.. im sure they could under cut and out quality companies like Dell etc any day. As they build machines to order too they can do you a machine to your exact needs. come on guys.. give the guy a quote!
-
Winon sux ! anyway.... Gamehead, please dont buy an External Cd burner, heres why: 1) They are slow as hell compared to internal drives 2) they cost a fortune 3) ones that are fast cost even more of a fortune! for the price of 2 DVDs you can have a nice fast 48X cd burner from LITE ON, whats the big deal? your 8x burner has one use... the dustbin! (aka -- ebay) or keep it as a spare, 8x burn is painfully slow. what.. 20 minutes to burn a CD? what a waste of time!

try this (not 100% on it fixing your problem however) put your XP cd in the drive, if you have installed SP1 you will have to have a slipstreamed XP cd in the drive. go to START > RUN in the run box put in sfc /scannow thats sfc<space>/scannow XP should check and replace corrupted files, but i doubt it will solve your issue, im a bit drunk.. ill come back and have another lookie in the morning... give it a try tho.. wont break anything. (sfc /scannow = System File Check /Scan now, it checks XP files and replaces damaged/altered ones) Right ... back to this bottle of Glenfiddich, merry XMAS tim2002, and welcome to the board! (very proffesional drunken welcome there...)

gotta make something new and that looks good, refer to chieftec and such for inspiration! if you turn cases out of that kind of quality but cheaper your on a sure fire winner, anyone who does i will gladly be the sole uk distributor... selling to other companies and doing the leg work for you if its quality and its cheap.. you (almost) cant fail

uninstall messenger by going to Start > run and in the run box put in this: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove it will remove messenger, also you should uninstall MSN messenger, then go to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\ delete that folder (after uninstalling it) now install MSN and all the old mails etc should be gone.
-
go to the makers website and look for a firmware update. also get updates for your burning software, and lastly make sure the latest version of ASPI is installed ASPI pages: Here Also check out LITE ON burners, they are very very cheap, you can pick up a 48X burner for about £36 (i dunno what that is in Canadian dollars but.. u work it out, its cheap anyway! 2 DVDs worth or so)

uninstall MSN messenger and reinstall it. OR, you could try this it should work: open up IE and go to Tools > internet options now, click on Temporary internet files: [Delete files] Then below that click [Clear history] did that clear it? (it works on the run shell) if not try this: in IE go to Tools > internet options again. click the Content tab. then click the Auto Complete button, hit Clear passwords and also Clear Forms Still not work? in MSN messenger go to the Help tab, then click About MSN messenger What version of MSN messenger are you using?
