  1. the ip would be renewed by the pc, but the main wouldnt allow shared folder access or internet access, now would i be able network shares on any machine that had been rebooted, unless i went to the computer that had been rebooted and ran the network wizard or did ipconfig /release then /renew. problems been solved now, see: http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&id=4 @Hashdump, im not on a domain, but a workgroup. im not running a machine with advanced server on it or something, if your network is made up of 98/xp/nt/2k machines then its workgroup not domain, i dont have to sign in as its trusted network, i dont know how to set that up either (if you do please tell me). i wish i had more network admin experiance, ill do a course on it soon as they start again at the local college. A+ has been easy so far ---- i wish i had the money to do MSCE
  2. Have you seen the trailer to this film?? man it looks awesome!

  5. i just get a page showing:
  6. you can install remote desktop onto a windows 98 or win2k machine if you have a WindowsXP cd and use that.... is that what you mean? when they made remote desktop they also made it possible to install it onto other windows platforms so that network admins etc would be able to use it on ALL their domains pc's :sorcerer
  7. its Dahmer u turnip
  8. Are all the internals adonised to protect against metal oxide build up? on a cheap rig like that i bet not. if you are going to water cool your pc and buy a kit its worth investing the money, you get what you pay for. Or build it yourself and be very selective about what you buy, all metals inside, inc any pump internals should be the same metals. Beter still get one of those pumps where it moves the internal mechanism using magnets so theres only one metal type inside that, your readiator should be the same metal too, theres some nice ones around, also see Car transmition coolers, a lot of these are stainless steel, look **** nice and sell for about £40 - £50 for a good one (see some petrol head magazine, the type for car "overclockers") All your hosing L, U bends etc can be purchased from the hardware store, have a look into those click lock ones, might be worth a try. use a water wetter to prevent metal oxide build up and algae, also adding about a table spoon of methalated spirits each week will keep algae at bay. This is something i want to try soon too
  9. dont you have to use the wizard every time you turn your pc on to get on your network filer?
  10. thats quite old, but still **** funny
  11. its machine debug manager, or microsoft debug manager, same thing people call it either, but the correct name is the first one. dont believe me? use google and search for MDM.exe Id be really suprised if it was to do with messenger 4.7X as ive never installed it. it was Windows messenger, then i removed that and installed a beta of MSN 5.* Now obviously using the full release of MSN5.
  12. norton firewall is a pest on XP. try Kerio its free, very good, lots of features, you can backup firewall rules and save them to file incase of a format etc. People will start to think im getting paid for recomending it lol. but its a **** fine program, and free for home use. i havent had a single problem with it on XP at all. Norton firewall causes a lot of people problems, but not all. so it might not be the culprit, but theres one sure way to find out! also: open task manager up (hit CTRL+ALT+DEL) go to processes, then click on View > select columns Tick CPU Time, and Page faults, then click on OK. what process is hogging the CPU most? and what process has the most Page faults? mine are caused by norton and Microsoft Debug manager.
  13. heh they are using the same "roll back" image and marketing idea as ASDA, probably decided it was a good idea after buying them out. we dont have walmart here. hmmm stella... finest lager money can buy
  14. and they AGREED to it, whos more sick, the dead muppets or him!
  15. Theres just 3 things that could be causing this, one is a virus such as sircam, bugbear etc. the other is someones broken into your pc (not likley unless your on a 10mbit line or something) and lastly its some bad application causing it, or one thats crashed. what firewall are you using and what anti virus software? what OS are you running, windows XP/2000/NT/9x ? let me guess before you answer, XP / zonealarm / mcaffee
  16. i knew u had that cr*p installed did the problem start after installing this? or is it really recent? can you tell me your specs? OS. cpu speed, ram etc
  17. we should add that green puke smilie, cos i think its appropriate here
  18. it should be 1.5 times the size of your actual RAM. 128mb RAM = 192MB cache 256mb RAM = 384mb cache 512mb RAM = 768mb cache etc etc.
  19. A little girl goes to see santa and sits on his knee "and what do you want for christmas little girl?" Girl: "i want hair ... down there, like my sister" Santa thinks for a minute and says "will grey do?"
  20. Everytime i turn one of the machines off on the network when i turn it back on i have to run the network setup wizard on it again and sometimes also on the machine connected to the modem. this also happens at college using a hub. its infuriating. the machines network connections all still show as live but you cant access the shares or get on the internet until the wizard is run again. Any ideas? once ive set the network up it should work when i reboot still, its a pain in the butt
  21. it sounds like some crashed application to me, something in the background. either that or yes, your pc has been trojaned or hacked. 99% load and hard disk going all the time, definatley sounds like a crash! what OS are you using? have you by any chance installed norton system works?
  22. post it in software you twonk! sounds a cool util crispy! but then.. thats if you paranoid. Although.. maybe its usefull for removing Lab_06 identifier from Longhorns id, Leakers take note

  25. Theres heaps of computers at my college that my tutor collects from the local dump and companies that are throwing them out etc. i dont know what country your in so i cant say for sure if you will be able to go to the local tipping site and ask they folks down there if you can take some pc parts, over here they pull Pc's and things like that off the tip so they can be recylcled. (the strips on pci cards etc are gold plated, theres also silver and platinum and copper to harvest) Go see, or ring local schools, colleges etc, go to a large pc wholesalers or manufacturers and raid the skip out back, usually they throw stuff out thats only marked and still works, or is easily fixable. your not alone, i believe even Bill gates and his buddies used to do this back in the day
