  1. LM2007, great! I said I thought we were sneaking up on it. Please remember that a virtual system cannot check drivers. It uses its own drivers to interface with your host OS. Super! Thanks for the report. Fun now, John.
  2. Bishop, I am doing some research now and am sad to report that the Vista boot process is entirely different from XP. I don't think Vista even has a SETUPLDR.BIN. As you can tell, I know almost nothing about Vista. See here, where I am reading right now. Looks "COMPLEX!" Perhaps it can lead to something useful and possibly get people thinking of how to solve this problem of booting from SATA and USB attached optical drives. Enjoy, John.
  3. Bishop, I too don't know what "chainload the SETUPLDR.BIN on the CD" means. I do know what the .BIN file is and I wonder if you were to use the Vista version, if that would work. Just idle speculation. Enjoy, John. jaclaz, I misread your earlier reply and got way up the wrong tree! I agree what you are talking about is not helpful for the SATA attached optical drive. All this has made me wonder, if one were to replace the XP SETUPLDR.BIN with the Vista version, could there be success with booting the XP ISO from the USB or SATA attached CD? What do you think - boom, maybe? Thanks for your reply. Enjoy, John.
  4. bmoses, SP1 and SP3? Please do this: Copy your original CD into a folder. Please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of the folder. Run nLite, integrating SP3 and IE7 in ONE run - nothing else except your Unattended stuff. Let us know what is happening. We don't need to know about SP1, since it should not even be there. Please post the size and MD5 for both SP3 and IE7 installer. Enjoy, John.
  5. LM2007, since I DLed your drivers, I don't need any screen shots. I can't answer this question. I assume it depends on the HW you have. Do you have a 180 or 180plus? Could it have been simply SISRAID, with no extension? This file exists in the SiS\RAID411a\FloppyImage\964_180 folder but not in the RAID folder. Try moving it into the RAID folder along with the txtsetup.oem file. If you open it with notepad you will see it contains the line SiSRaid. When you run again, please take a screen shot of the error message and post it. I think we are sneaking up on it. Have fun, John.
  6. Degrees, why are you bumping when you have not responded to my last reply? Please don't be bumping, period! Enjoy, John.
  7. Bishop, several people have had problems with booting an install CD from a SATA optical drive. Perhaps yours is similar. I don't think it is an nLite problem, but jaclaz may have given a real clue here. jaclaz, please elaborate on "no-emulation bootsector of the CD". Do you think it is possible to burn an ISO to a CD with a different boot sector and get past these problems. If so, where do people find these appropriate boot sectors? Should the optical drive manufacturers offer them? Thanks for any help here. Enjoy, John.
  8. LM2007, what does your title mean? Setup cannot find your HDD? I DLed your drivers. Did you move the txtsetup.oem file into the driver folder and point nLite to the .inf there? Enjoy, John.
  9. bmoses, did you do the search I asked you to do? Please post the size (not size on disk) and MD5 for your SP3 and IE7 installer. I see no integration of an SP in you Last Session. This increases my suspicion that you have run nLite more than once. Please don't hurt your head; you may need it someday. Enjoy, John. EDIT:There is an acpi.sys file in SP3. Does your nLited ISO install if you remove IE7 installer?
  10. aztec, you have a down level version of WMP11 Slipstreamer. Find 1.4.2.0 here. In the future, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Also attach the real file, not a modified version. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  11. bmoses, your Last Session is about as simple as it gets and I see no problem there. I again suspect you are running nLite more than once. Please do a search on your search folder (before and after running nLite) and see if you have acpi.sy*. I think you should have at least a ACPI.SY_ in your I386 folder. If not, perhaps you have a bum CD. What is the source of your CD? Enjoy, John.
  12. bmoses, this is not an IE7 problem. Many people have integrated it and this is the first time I have heard of this problem. I suspect you have run nLite more than once against the same source, so, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.

    error on install

b-man, you should never run nLite more than once on the same source. Here is my standard statement: If you place the WMP11 installer and its updates in the Hot Fix area nLite will call WMP11 Slip. I don't know what you are asking at the bottom. After you start making only one nLite run with a fresh source, please let us know if you still have problems. Enjoy, John.

    Newbee stuck

kazanti, I run with both OEM Preinstall enabled and OOBE not disabled. I get no BS during install, but I do remove Tour under Components-Operating System. I also run with Password expiration enabled, but the days set to 0. If WMP11 Slipstreamer is installed on your system, then you don't need to run it separately. You just include WMP11 installer and updates in the Hot Fix area and nLite will run WMP11 Slip for you. IE7 is here. I think RyanVM forums also have driver packs. It does have Update Packs. You might check them out. If you place the key in nLite, you will need a different CD for each computer. Right now, I think your goal should be to get one running install CD and go from there. Have fun, John.

    Nlite Idioma

jaime28, thanks for the translation. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  16. Spinner, I DLed the Asus manual for your MB and have some questions. In the BIOS there is a page that seems to tell you what drives are detected. Have you looked at this to see if the BIOS has detected your SATA drives? When you open the support CD, the first page looks like it has a Utilities tab. Have you explored this tab to see if there is a text mode driver utility? I also found your post on the Asus forum. Looks like less than help there. Have you tried calling Asus support at 812-282-2787. I think you are getting down to a driver or hardware problem. Good luck, John.

    Newbee stuck

kazanti, I am not sure why you are still being asked for inputs by Setup. What is the Unattended option NoPassExpSpec and why are you using it? Why have you disabled OEM and OOBE? I don't see the installer for either WMP11 or IE7, but there are updates to both. You must not have the correct drivers for your hardware, causing the New Hardware popups. I know nothing about bashrat's driverpack. I simply DL and use the drivers I need for my system. I see no text mode drivers. Do you have no SATA or RAID in your system? Please give it a try with the Unattended options without the ones I mentioned. I also suggest you get a virtual system (VirtualPC, VirtualBox and VMware Server - all free) so you can test quickly without burning coasters. Please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  18. devsfan1830, learned something - thanks, John.
  19. Spinner, please give Asus a call or send them an e-mail. Do you find a floppy utility on your AusRock (whatever) CD? You may need to run the utility, then copy the files from the floppy. Good luck, John.
  20. All you guys/gals, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John. EDIT: Since I have never performed one of these, I have started one on my VMware Server VM. I am using XP x64 and it seems to be running fine so far. Well, it just stopped and complained about a missing or corrupt ntoskrnl.exe. This is the boot screen which I have modified. When I do a normal install, I turn off System File Checker (SFC aka WFP). So if you have altered the netmap.inf file or installed with SFC defeated, this could be your problem. When I tried this, I did a fresh install of Windows, not an Upgrade or Repair. In fact, you cannot do a Repair unless you used Prompt Repair Unattended Mode. Please see the Unattended-General tab- Unattended Mode Help note. I searched my ISO and found 10 files named netmap.inf in various directories in my AMD64 folder. Please let us know in more detail what install options you guys/gals are using. Enjoy, John.
  21. Cornfused, did you run nLite more than once against the same source or integrate more than one SP? Please see the sticky above concerning nVidia drivers and see if there is some help there. Thanks for your Last Session and please remember to make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
  22. CyberDemon2004, since I have you, in 20 words or less, please explain to me what a "sysprep" is. I assume it is a method of making an installation so that it can be silently installed on many computers. NLite should always be run against a fresh copy of the Windows CD files/folders, so it cannot process what you have. In a possibly more important note, the nLite license agreement provides for personal use only and does not allow business use. Please see the agreement in the nLite folder in the Program Files folder. Enjoy, John.
  23. Abyssal, I still suspect your source. Try installing your original source unaltered. Do not even run nLite against it. See if the components are missing. You must have some modified Windows and if it is corporate, perhaps these were removed to keep employees from playing. BTW, nLite is licensed for personal use only and cannot be used for business purposes. Please see the license agreement (you agreed to when installing) in the nLite folder of your Program Files folder. Enjoy, John.
  24. devsfan1830, you should be able to do what you want. Selecting no options but driver integration and create/burn an ISO so go fine. NLite will not copy your second MCE CD and like I said before, please search this forum for instructions on how to do that yourself. It has been dealt with before. You should ultimately end up with a DVD that will install MCE just like you want it. Enjoy, John.
  25. b-man, I see your flag is Australian, so we speak the same language (sorta), but I am having trouble understanding what you are asking or you are having trouble understanding what I am saying. Each time you run nLite, you should start with a fresh copy of your files/folders. Each time you run nLite, it processes each task you select, removing components, integrating an SP, hot fixes and drivers and what other things you request. When you finish (creating an ISO/CD or not), nLite saves the information about what was done in the run in the Last Session.ini and Last Session_U.ini files. If you wanted to recreate this again, but with minor changes perhaps, start nLite with a fresh copy of the source, and select the Last Session dated appropriately. At any time you can open nLite against a previously nLited source, select only Create Bootable ISO and build an ISO file and /or burn a CD/DVD. I really encourage you to install a virtual system (VirtaulPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free) and make some test runs. With a VM you can have all kinds of fun and learn all kinds of things. It was one of the smartest things I did in the endeavor. If I have still have not answered your questions, please try me again. Enjoy, John.
