  1. I dunno about Pro, but the free version is 5.03c, from this download link: http://www.winamp.com/player/full.php
  2. It seems that we've established that a 98 cd can be unattended, but the problem that's still plaguing this topic is the unattended install of extra progs. All I have to say is it CAN be done. At the school where I worked for a while, there were CDs for some of the 98 machines that did similar things to the CDs we're all making here for XP (especially post-OS-install-program-installations...like the runonce registry key does). And I can definitely understand the impetus...I think a lot of people had to give up some of their favorite programs when they switched.
  3. I think what he means is that when you make an unattended installation of WinXP, no matter what value you use for unattended type, you lose the option to repair by any method with your newly created disk, including the ever-helpful recovery console.
  4. So are you using a modded laptop mobo, or do they make desktops that support Mobiles? I've never dealt with the insides of a laptop, but this might be a reason to look at different processors...
  5. @Bâshrat Why the mobile processor? Cooling or power issues? @PalmTree Isn't it fun when your laptop is faster than your desktop? Mine was that way for a long time...
  6. yeah, that was a primary concern with my system, and the reason I have so many hard disks...unfortunately I as of yet lack a digital video camera...but for me, video editing is still leisure

    Hello!

Welcome to the both of you!
  8. Holy Crap, Wraith...and I was all happy 'cause I thought my rig was good...
  9. Of course, this is to say nothing of the regimes we've toppled, only to replace them with worse cases of civil rights violations (Cuba, Sudan, etc, etc). How do we know that Iraq will be different? We don't. Frankly, and call me a pessimist if you want (which I very well may be), the "situation" in the middle east, which has existed quite literally from the metaphorical (though historically insignificant, as it happened elswhere prior to that) birth of civilization, will never be resolved. Neither side will ever believe what the other has to say, much like our extremely polarized political system. So there, two more cents from someone who knows far too little about politics to really be posting here... EDIT: Um, that would be me...not referring to anyone else...
  10. His immaturity is cool to us, the young, liberal, (and often non-voting) public. That's why so few people trust him, because so many people are older and conservative...but they're the ones who cast the most votes.
  11. Thanks! I love it like my own child... And I'd recommend it to anyone who wants the latest 400 dollar piece of equipment for a huge FPS increase that's not even visible...
  12. Hey! Welcome from another citizen of the Centennial State!
  13. Ok, first, my sig has my desktop, which is my real baby, but... 14. WOO HOO! Thanks a million for saving me a bunch of time...Kudos.
  15. Some of the better LCDs run at multiple resolutions...without black borders. And as far as using a resolution that's lower than the "native" resolution, you can enable display expansion on most of them, but it looks all pixel-y.
  16. Put the setup.iss into your desired folder (probably the same folder that setup.exe is in), and set the paths in step 4 to the ones that correspond to your actual locations, and put that command in application.cmd
  17. also make sure "repartition=yes" isn't anywhere in winnt.sif...I had 60 gigs-o-crap that I lost that way, and I learned REALLY quick that "autopartition" wasn't the only data-destroying key...because it was set to 0 at the time...
  18. copy it from an original version of the disk, before you had that problem
  19. and yes, I'm using an older LCD monitor (good ol' university), but you will most likely only see ghosting at higher framerates with a higher quality monitor...they will still be there though. And refresh rate is something LCDs don't have to deal with, they can address each pixel individually, so they don't "refresh" they just change the pixels that need to be changed. Edit: When, in the quote above, they refer to refresh rate, they mean the refresh rate of an individual pixel.
  20. Well, it depends on what you're copying. If, for instance, you have an install of office in there, that's the time when it copies. As far as your answer file, it'd help if you posted it and unattended.bat, but I'll hazard a guess. In unattended.bat, I'm guessing it doesn't get the path to the answer file properly, but it's just a guess. EDIT: Did I say I was guessing?
  21. Change Oempreinstall to "Yes" That should fix it. Good luck with the unattending EDIT: Remove the "Oempreinstall=no": you have that tag in there twice with conflicting values
  22. Could you post your Winnt.sif file for us?
