  1. 71?? Does that include 3rd party applications as well? Cheers,
  2. Thanks BM. I wasn't sure. I thought I might have been daft. Sometimes I have good days. Some days, when I can't get anything to work, I wonder if msfn.org should sport a header on their main page which states, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."
  3. 20 altogether, not including qchain. 17 hotfixes. Looks like were installing the same stuff. I don't need any of the recommended updates. Cheers,
  4. Aww, I'm only kidding. Hmm, I'm not sure how you would go about doing the entire $oem$ directory. Wouldn't you have to make separate archives inside of each folder that resides in $oem$?
  5. I did a google search and found this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=70&t=17992 I think [bM]Crusher has been holding out on us.
  6. Recommended updates, I would imagine. I noticed a couple of superfluous updates on mostym's list. Q330994 is superseded by Q837009 Q828028 is superseded by Q835732 I have exactly 20 myself.
  7. Glad you got it worked out. You can drop webdings and wingdings unless you really need them... Cheers,
  8. This might be of interest to you: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default..../html/cabdl.asp If your not comfortable behind a command prompt, then Power Archiver might be what you need. http://www.powerarchiver.com/ Cheers,
  9. That's an interesting piece of information. A google search turns up a lot of interesting articles and such. Here's one from 2001 relating to Panda Software: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/05/03/pa...church/?FACTNet The few articles I glanced through were fairly old. 2002 and before. I guess this is old news. Cheers,
  10. Great! Glad you got it to work. Not sure why you had to use command.com. Oh well. You solved your problem, that's all that counts. Cheers,
  11. Ha! Good old U_S. I used to work at their central hub here in Louisville. Something heavy must have fell on it during shipping. If those trucks/containers aren't packed properly, nasty things can happen. U_S has a high employee turnover rate. Lots of high school kids and newbies loading these trucks. I've seen lots of nasty things happen to packages. It happens... Cheers.
  12. hmmm. Not sure what to do now. Can you use notepad or similar to edit your cleanup.cmd? Those characters don't seem to display correctly in Edit.
  13. Hmm. Not sure about that. It could be the particular font you are using in the dos window. You can enable quick edit mode in your DOS window. With a DOS window open, right click on the icon in the upper left corner, select properties, select the 'options' tab. Then check quick edit mode under edit options. You may have to select 'Lucida console' from the 'Fonts' tab for those characters to be seen. Cheers, EDIT: I forgot to mention that enabling 'quick edit mode' allows you to cut and paste in the dos window.
  14. Try holding down the ALT key and press 0-2-5-3 on the num key pad, then release ALT. If it's a capital Y, then try alt 0-2-2-1. Cheers, Edit: Here's a link for other alt key codes: http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/interna...ts/codealt.html
  15. Good link. I might do some font cleaning myself.
  16. It's hard to say really. It depends on what applications you have and which fonts they use. The recommended method of uninstalling fonts is dragging them out of the fonts folder and storing them in another. This will allow you to easily restore your fonts incase you uninstall an essential font. I would say definitely keep arial, verdana, Times new Roman, courier fonts, serif/sans-serif fonts. Possibly others. Cheers,
  17. Unless you Administator privileges, which it appears you do not, then you can't change these settings. You would have to ask an administrator to make these changes. Cheers,
  18. I should have asked what OS you are using. Also, if you have multiple user profiles, you should delete the Link values in the following keys: HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer HKEY_USERS\username\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ExplorerDon't delete the entire Explorer key, just the value Link in the right side. That is, if you decide to edit the registry manually. A reboot may be necessary. cheers,
  19. If you have tweak ui, select explorer in the tree, scroll down in the settings and check "prefix 'shortcut to' on new shortcuts". Another way is to navigate to this registry key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]Look for the value name Link and delete it. Cheers,
  20. Yeah, there's no question about the file and path being correct. It's obviously being executed.
  21. Thanks BM, I thought there might be away to specify the installation drive. I was just to lazy to look it up. At any rate, I knew someone else would post a correction if my method was wrong or sloppy. I agree a SFX archive is ultimately the best way to go. However, tcsdoc mentioned that it seemed too complicated so I offered the easiest method I could think of. Edit: Actually, I can't believe I missed that. Hell, Install and Drivers are already in my $1 folder. Doh! Cheers,
  22. Clock speed: 0.985 MHz (PAL) / 1.023 MHz (NTSC) I used mine for years then upgraded to an Amiga 500 in 1988. I used Amiga systems until 1995 then started using IBM compatibles... Cheers,
