  1. I confirm, I do it almost the same way and I get no problems B) I call a batch file from cmdline.txt so I can use variables like %systemdrive% instead of a fixed drive letter (like C:\ in the previous example) Good Luck!
  2. Lois, does the Winnt.sif option set the Remote Desktop Connection + Firewall setting correctly in SP2?
  3. You can do it with winnt.sif here: [Unattended] ProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files" CommonProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files\Common files" You can also specify the location of Documents and Setting here: [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="E:\Documents and Settings\" BUT be aware that your partitions MUST be partitionned and formated BEFORE you launch your Unattended Installation... Otherwise you will get an error because Windows only format the destination drive (default = C:\Windows)
  4. @vcBlackBox How do you remove the front cover of the Antec Sonata Case without breaking it? You can pull the tab from the panel side but on the other side there is no way to access the plastic tab...
  5. I'm almost done with my Multi-Boot Project but there is a question remaining: Where do I put my Winnt.sif and $OEM$ folder for my Unattended Installations. For example, I use EasyBoot and I have followed their Instruction Guide and I end up with this structure: ROOT |_WIN51 (file) |_WIN51IP (file) |_WIN51IP.SP2 (file) |_EZBOOT (folder) |_XPEN (folder) |___Some files (ATAPI.SY_ Etc.) |___I386 |_____Windows files... Don't tell me to put the $OEM$ folder at the root because I want to put many Windows Installations...
  6. @vcBlackBox Nice, but there's too much stuff for me in that package!
  7. Maybe I should contact MS... Hello? is this MS speaking? My name is Incredible HULK and I'd like to get all the non critical updates delivered to my Office. What? you think i'm crazy Maybe I am... Maybe
  8. @hp38guser Read Carefully! there is 3 different method for installation, 1 for each systems: Batch file = Windows 2000 SP4 SVCPACK.INF = Windows XP SP1 /integrate: = Windows XP SP2 Cheers!
  9. Thank's RyanVM, I'll be updating my SP2 section tomorrow. Enought for today! I have to build a "clean" simulation of Windows XP SP2 in order to check for updates... like the one I use for Windows 2000 SP4 and Windows XP SP1.

  11. I don't think you can "merge" the ISO file to your USB drive... If you take a look to the link provided by Scorp: http://www.weethet.nl/english/hardware_bootfromusbstick.php you can write your boot sector to the USB drive... similar to burning a boot CD with Nero where you have to specify the Boot Image File, etc...
  12. Lois, Where do you find the 8.0.5 version? All I can see on the Symantec Website is an update to 8.0.1...
  13. @Bilou_Gateux WoW! Thanks, it works perfectly! I finally had time to test your switches this week... where did you get it from? Merci Beaucoup @ALL I've offered to maintain a Sticky post about Windows 2000 post-SP4 updates. There is currently 28 Critical Updates and I could provide all links to download + required switches to install. I would update once a month after MS patch day (2nd tuesday of every month) I am waiting for an answer from the admin...
  14. @ Scorp Thanks, I've been reading the link you suggested... I'll have to take the time to test at work, here at home I don't have a USB Drive handy. If someone is willing to test, I suggest the following step 1- start with something simple, a Windows XP boot image for example. 2- Try with a multiboot image, like EasyBoot or CDShell Of course you should try this on recent hardware...
  15. Lois, I'm not totally sure but doing this reg tweak may cause problems the FIRST time you launch an application installed to your F: Drive. You'll have to point manually to the .exe file if your shortcut are not working...
  16. I am using UltraISO from ezbsystems and there was a similar question to mine on their forum. Here is the administrator answer... As filesystem used by a 'USB flash drive' is quite different from a bootable CD, making a bootable USB flash from a bootable CD is not possible.
  17. Does somebody know if this [DiskConfig] code works? I've been looking in the deploy.chm file for SP2 and I didn't find anything about it!
  18. Here you go Lois, this is my Unattended section in winnt.sif for Windows XP SP2 [Unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=No UnattendSwitch=yes WaitForReboot=No OemPnPDriversPath="Way too long!" 19. I have the same for Ad-Aware but I have a 3rd taskkill command: REG ADD %KEY%\009 /VE /D "LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE 1.05" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\Ad-Aware\aawsepersonal.exe /smart +silent +update" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 2 /D "taskkill /IM Adaware.exe" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 3 /D "taskkill /IM hh.exe" /f REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 4 /D "taskkill /IM Ad-Aware.exe" /f I don't know if taskkill /IM Adaware.exe is necessary...
  20. Sorry it took me so long to test... I had to ask some help in the Application Switches forum to get Acrobat Reader 6 to work with the switch. Here is the answer from Alanoll:
  21. Thanks again Alanoll! I've tried different search query but it didn't came out: Adobe Reader 6 Reader 6 runonceex acrobat reader reader switch etc. The fact is I don't have a good knowledge about batch files, switches, etc. I am learning a lot with my Unattended projects (and of course this forum)
  22. Sounds kind of easy... maybe you should install Office and your app at the end of your Windows Installation with batch file or RunOnceEx method Good luck!
