  1. This is what I use for QuickTime Icon: cleanup.cmd DEL "%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\QuickTime Player.lnk" in my French version it is Démarrer Internet Explorer.Ink but for an english version I don't know exactly... maybe Start Internet Explorer.Ink
  2. I am updating my CDs once a month (after the second tuesday of the month - Microsoft Patch Day!) so I check for BIOS update, drivers update, software update, etc. all at the same time so even if there is a new BIOS out there it can wait a few days...
  3. First off, have you tried a MSOC2.exe /? or /help command to see if there is any switches available?
  4. ARGGGGGG! Does anyone know how to integrate the MDAC (KB832483) into a Windows 2000 Unattended Setup. This one is giving me a headache. At my first attempt, I used a method similar to the one for Windows XP SP1... without success xxx_Q832483_MDAC_X86.EXE /C:"dahotfix.exe /q /n" /q Next I tried to extract the update with WinRAR and then called dahotfix.exe directly... again without success So, did anyone managed to install it Unattended with success?
  5. According to MFSN, you won't be able to integrate them (slipstream) into your CD if you don't create an Admin Installation Point at FIRST.
  6. Yep! you won't be able to update via OfficeUpdate with this method Just read my previous post...
  7. Well, according to MFSN, you cannot slipstream updates without creating first an Administration Install Point So I don't think I can slipstream the updates directly into my copied files from the CD...
  8. Ok, I did a first test starting with my original CD of Office 2003 and creating a MST answer file; nothing more. It works fine, so it is the Admin Installation Point (that allow us to slipstream) that is causing our problems... In my next step, I'll try to install the SP1 silently at step 16. Any suggestions for the syntax I should use to make it so?
  9. Ok, here we go 1- in your $OEM$ folder, you must have a file named cmdline.txt with this content: [Commands] ".\parse.bat" ".\runonce.bat" 2- Here is the content of parse.bat (commands always on a single line): @echo off echo BlaBlaBla type %systemdrive%\install\Applications\runonce.txt|%windir%\system32\sed.exe 's/\%%systemdrive\%%/%systemdrive%/g'>%systemdrive%\runonce.reg 3- Here is the content of runonce.bat: @echo off echo BlaBlaBla %windir%\regedit.exe /s %systemdrive%\runonce.reg 4- You can put runonce.txt where you want in $OEM$ but ajust parse.bat in consequence. Here is the content of it: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx] "Title"="Your TITLE" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\zz01] "1"="%systemdrive%\\install\\Applications\\directx\\dxsetup.exe /silent" @="Installation de DirectX 9.0c" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\zz02] "1"="%systemdrive%\\winnt\\regedit.exe /s %systemdrive%\\winapps\\Nero\\register.reg" "2"="%systemdrive%\\install\\Applications\\Nero\\NERO.exe /silent /noreboot /no_ui" "3"="%systemdrive%\\install\\Applications\\Nero\\FR.exe /silent /noreboot /no_ui" @="Nero Burning ROM Reloaded 6.6.0.1" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx\zz03] "1"="%systemdrive%\\install\\Applications\\AdobeReader\\AR6.msi /qn" @="Acrobat Reader 6.0.1" And so on... you get the idea... 5- Lastly, you must put sed.exe in $OEM$\$$\System32 DOWNLOAD HERE Well, that's about it... hope I haven't forgot anything B)
  10. There is a way to do it... just give me a couple minutes to get the method I employed from my cd
  11. Yeah, sort of, It was long ago... and I can't understant your language! even if you don't have Raid or SATA-devices in your PC you can try to add anything but as I told it won't work
  12. There is an option in Winnt.sif: [Data] AutomaticUpdates=no but I don't think this will prevent you from getting pop-up telling you that Windows Update is not active.... The other way to do it with your Windows Server 2003 via group policy and then provide the update from your server with SUSadmin service... this will even grey out the Windows Update options in the System Property panel
  13. This looks just like my Winnt.sif... I can hit F6 than add drivers during the installation process BUT a few minutes later, Setup will give an error message about being unable to read the files... (at first I tought my Floppy drive was broken! like most of us ) So are you sure your CD actually works with F6?
  14. ME! No no, just kiddin The Root would be here: This is a screenshot from one of my early project...
  15. thanks for the link but I've already took a look at this article. The problem is that this registry key is non-existent on our computers... Back to my idea of Step 16, if I take a look at the SP1 switch this is what I get: but i'm not to familiar with this and since it is running on a CD-ROM I don't know how to proceed... (extraction path, etc.)
  16. ****! I knew it was the Service Pack! Your solution seems fine for a Windows Unattended Installation (on DVD!) but i'd like to keep my office 2003 CD-ROM appart... Do you have any idea how to do it with the Office 2003 CD-ROM? Maybe it is possible to silently install the service pack + update with the Custom Installation Wizard at Step 16 but I don't know how to do it... Any suggestions?
  17. If I install manually on a clean machine without using the command line argument it still does the same... it's either comming from the slipstreaming of the Service Pack (most likely) or from the admin install point...
  18. Well I was patting myself on the back for solving my problem for a few hours... until I discovered that it doesn't work actually. I am using an Office 2003 SP1 Unattended (MST file) Installation CD-ROM using the Custom Installation Wizard and this process is blocking the end user to do Office Update on the Web. But I want our end user to be able to update their installation. This is what you get on the Microsoft Update Site II tought this option would do the trick... but it doesn't Does someone know how to solve this? Thanks!
  19. humm... interesting to know So you go to recovery console after the first reboot and then copy those files from the floppy drive to Windows\System32 ?
  20. thanks, i'll try without the OEMPreInstall parameter... I get some machine once in a while where I need to do F6...
  21. My way of doing it is to specify 3DWindowsXP as part of my theme. You have to add this line to your Winnt.sif: [Shell] CustomDefaultThemeFile="%WinDir%\Resources\Themes\Royale.theme" Then add 3D Windows XP.scr in this folder: $OEM$\$$\System32 (copied to Windows\System32 during setup) this way, you can also control the Wallpaper and other stuff. The simplest way to get your theme is to go into Display Property and use the Save as... button when your satisfy with you setup. Then add your theme into this folder: $OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes Hope this help!
  22. Is it possible to use an answer file and still be able to hit F6 during the installation process to load Device Drivers? I KNOW, I won't get my $OEM$ folder copied over so I won't have my drivers + my application installed with RunOnceEx BUT it is still better than nothing when you must load a new or specific driver to install. I ALSO KNOW that there is some method to integrate MassStorageDrivers into my installation BUT this is not what I want. The purpose of this is when you have only 1 computer that need special drivers and I don't want to modify my Unattended Setup only for 1 Installation... EDIT: WOW! NOW I GOT A STAR! Woohoo!
  23. Ok, I finally got some time to test the solution and it worked fine! The fun thing is that it goes faster since it is on a CD instead of a floppy. Thanks!
  24. This is one of many wishes we all have... Sorry to inform you that Setup only format the destination partition of Windows (C:\WINDOWS) Here are the parameter you can specify in your Winnt.sif: [Data] AutoPartition=1 [Unattended] TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=No ProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files" (MUST be partitionned & Formated BEFORE installation to use D: drive) CommonProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files\Fichiers communs" (MUST be partitionned & Formated BEFORE installation to use D: drive) [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="E:\Documents and Settings\" (MUST be partitionned & Formated BEFORE installation to use E: drive) If you try the search functions you'll find that there is plenty of ways to accomplish this task: WinPE is an example, DiskPart is another. For my part I created a MultiBoot CD allowing me to start Acronis Disk Director 9 to partition and format my hard drive (Partition Magic was giving me troubles) and then I can restart the computer and start the Unattended installation.
