  1. I took a quick look at the link you posted Alanoll but they seems to be "oldies" software... and most of them where designed for Audio purpose. Anyway, I'll try to get some time to try out the one mentionned by prathapml... does CDRWIN still exist? I used this one so long ago Here is the README of TZCopyprotection:
  2. @prathapml I suggest you always use the latest versions of EasyBoot and UltraISO as the author is adding new feature and correcting bugs almost on a regular basis. The ability to extract Boot Info File from Acronis products has been introduced lately As for EasyBoot, the ability to load those .BIF was added a few days later Current version of EasyBoot is 5.06.469 and introduced higher resolution of 800x600 and 1024x768 as well. See my other post about support for theses new resolutions: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=33587
  3. This application looks interesting (except for the problems LaptoniC had ) but I think the scope of this app is better suited for professional data and backup... we don't even know if it will allow a Windows Installation. EDIT: As I said before I'd rather find something simple that will make our CD/DVD hard to duplicate or extract the ISO...
  4. This is the easiest way: Use UltraISO to extract the Boot Information File (BIF) and then use EasyBoot to load your .BIF using this command: bootinfotable;run xxx.BIF Where xxx is your filename Trial version for both products available HERE
  5. Hey! You are double posting .. ADMINISTRATOR ! KICK IM OUT!!! No no, I'm just kidding! welcome to the forum EDIT: now you are TRIPLE posting, you're getting in serious troubles!
  6. You can build a Floppy image of the program or extract the Boot Information File with UltraISO (generate a .BIF file) EDIT: I have done both solution for Disk Director 9 and True Image 8
  7. Wohaaa that would be great! You think it is present in the Deploy.cab? While searching around I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...;328356&sd=tech
  8. It could be usefull, but I would prefer that nobody gets to my WINNT.SIF I think the next step would be something to prevent the COPY or the EXTRACTION of the ISO...
  9. Not a bad idea... if you are the only one manipulating it EDIT: most of our laptop doesn't even have a floppy drive! I can ensure you my team would forget that floppy in some machine... and it would be a lot easier for them to get the stuff on it!
  10. That's true there is no full proof protection but my idea is still better than nothing. Often our technician carry the CD around, forget them so it is exposed to other... and also I must confess, I have 2 of them being small "hackers" always downloading/uploading stuff on FTP, private servers, etc. The other thing is I have invested so many hours in my projects I don't want them to modify it, get it the easy way, etc. I'll be happy to help them if they want to build their own CD anyway... Also (I'm still confesing) I have some "low competency" technician if you know what I mean. I want the CD to be "id*** proof" so they only get access to the content I want them to.
  11. Oh yeah that's true, you cannot hide files... only folders. What I suggest may sound strange but you can duplicate and rename your I386 folder, delete the WINNT.SIF in it, Optimise your ISO and then hide your original I386 folder... Otherwise you'll have to use the hidden attribute for your file wich is a really thin protection...
  12. Yes, it should be ok, I suggest you run a test in WMware or Virtual PC. For my part I always hide root folders, I remember hiding some sub-folder in my early test and it worked well too.
  13. You can hide everything in UltraISO EXCEPT the signature files at the root of your cd: Of course if you install your program from %CDROM% you should leave CD.txt as well.
  14. I knew you would answer something like that... don't be close minded EDIT: in the end will be able to get a better knowledge and draw a line where we can expect our Multi-Boot CD to work almost for sure
  15. EDIT: NEW VERSION, December 12 2004 This is an invitation for everyone who wants a GUI (Graphical User Interface) for their Multi-Boot Project. EasyBoot v5.06.472 will be out soon. This new version as been greatly enhanced for multiple Video Card support (even old ones!). This invitation is for you to test and report your results with a simple ISO file available HERE. Just download (185Ko), Unzip (14Mo) and Burn! Screenshot What will happen when my Video Card doesn't work? 1) Rollback Warning to 15Bits (if 16Bits or 24Bits is not working) 2) Black Screen with Warning 3) Please report any other situation that might occur... 16. WoW! I went to the page you linked at that's exactly what I wanted!!! Of course I don't mind using an application to compress... what I meant was using a 3rd party utility to integrate, automate or slipstream the drivers in my windows distribution... I'll ask some questions about this method in the other section of the forum... I swear I used the search function and i've never seen that post
  17. @prathapml I know we are not in the good forum section but I noticed that you seems to have a lot of driver files... do you use a compression method? If so, wich one? I want to introduce this feature BUT I want something simple, easy to maintain and I don't want to use 3rd party utilities (I like to keep control and understand the whole process).
  18. Cool! I just finished the compilation with your CDIMAGE parameter... I will test soon. the 4GB barrier will be a problem to me because my next step is a full packed Multi-Boot DVD and I NEED the optimise feature for sure. I always prefer to create an ISO before burning so I can test and also easily duplicate...
  19. I just noticed you don't use a TimeStamp... Can I have your opinion on this matter?
  20. So if I understant correctly, it will work even if I exceed the 8 level limit in the Windows Installation setup For Example my $OEM$ folder is the longest: Also, what is your solution for a DVD over 4GB of source file? BTW thanks for all theses informations! Maybe you should add them to your Sticky about Multi-Boot
  21. @prathapml Yes! it sure helps... I like clear answers and explanation. Thanks Can you give me more details about this -j1 options? Is it going to truncate my file names, is it going to capitalize every name? -j1 encode Joliet Unicode filenames AND generate DOS-compatible 8.3 filenames in the ISO-9660 name space (can be read by either Joliet systems or conventional ISO-9660 systems, but some of the filenames in the ISO-9660 name space might be changed to comply with DOS 8.3 and/or ISO-9660 naming restrictions)
  22. I am going to dig into CDIMAGE but I want some expertise on the matter. What I really wants is MAXIMUM COMPATIBILITY. On MSFN, the proper command line is the following: On flyakite they suggest: Ok, now what I don't like about the MSFN command is that first they remove the file attribute and they don't optimise. They also use the j1 option but is this better? Keep in mind that I seek maximum compatibility. Should I use the -j1 switche with flyakite command? Here are the options available for CDIMAGE
  23. @prathapml I've been using EasyBoot and UltraISO for a long time now and I never had any issues with them. The trouble I had was with a not so old (PIII 600Mhz I think) computer wich refused to boot from my CD. I decided to do further testing and I discovered that if I didn't use the "optimize" function, my Multi-Boot CD would work on this machine. So I wanted to know if other people had similar issues with the Optimisation feature. Next time I run into a computer doing this, I will burn my ISO optimised by CDIMAGE so I can diagnostic better. I don't have any issues in the process of creating an optimised ISO. What are people using to do an optimised ISO when they have a source over 4GB? Is there any REAL difference between CDIMAGE cmd line utility and the GUI version or the output will be the exact same?
  24. Hello Multi-everyone, I want to know if you had some limitation with the optimize feature of your multi-boot CD/DVD? The reason I'm asking is because I ran into a computer that didn't want to boot my CD and if I burn the same CD without an optimised ISO it worked fine. Perhaps my problem is from EasyBoot, the software I use to generate my ISO (same engine as UltraISO).
