  1. I created a floppy image for the fullversion (5 floppy disk) and it works perfectly with EasyBoot. Can you explain to me what is the bcdw/plugin? It seems a good enought protection for me... is there a way for us to use that patched cdfs on our Unattended CDs?
  2. @ Jito463, Thanks! @ Asky, Méga-Thanks! B) I was about to create my floppy image with Winimage but I used RAWRITEXP and your DOS image as you suggested. RAWRITEXP is quite a simple app but it does the job! And the DOS image is exactly what I was talking about... a simple minimal boot disk! I can wait to try it!
  3. so that's it? I just create an autoexec.bat and put exactly: A:\>ADSFI711.EXE A6728IMS.3A0 should I put the A:\> since I am running from a multiboot CD is there a problem with this path?
  4. I got another brillant idea and I wanted to know if someone could help. I'd like to add an option on my multi-boot CD to FLASH the BIOS of our motherboard. Since we always buy the same hardware it would be a great feature. I figured out that what I should do is the following: 1- Build a boot floppy image 2- add the BIOS file + flash program to the image 3- ??? create an autoexec.bat to start the flash program ??? The command I use normally is the following A:\>ADSFI711.EXE A6728IMS.3A0 This is where I need your help as my experience with dos is limited... Also I'd like to know what should be a minimal boot disk. If I build a boot disk with Windows XP, I get the following files (555Kb total): 91Kb - COMMAND.COM (hidden) 22Kb - KEYB.COM 29Kb - MODE.COM 58Kb - EGA2.CPI 58Kb - EGA3.CPI 58Kb - EGA.CPI 1Kb - CONFIG.SYS (hidden) 17Kb - DISPLAY.SYS 114kb - IO.SYS (hidden) 34Kb - KEYBOARD.SYS 32Kb - KEYBRD2.SYS 31Kb - KEYBRD3.SYS 13Kb - KEYBR42.SYS 1Kb - MSDOS.SYS (hidden) Thanks!
  5. Hello everyone, just wondering if someone know how to hide the content of our Unattended CDs... Recently, I burned a boot CD of Acronis Disk Director 9 and I noticed that I am unable to see the content of the CD in DOS and Windows... Seems like a great protection.
  6. What kind of key do you have? if you have an OEM key you cannot use this switch /sn=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx and you should put your key in a .reg file Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info] "User"="Something" "Company"="Something" "Serial6"="xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" and call this file before your installation of nero (example with RunOnceEx.cmd) REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Nero Burning ROM 6.6.0.0" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Nero\register.reg" /f REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 2 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Applications\Nero\nero.exe /silent /noreboot /no_ui" /f
  7. Well it's about 6Mo of language files... kind of big. Anyway, my point is to better understand Drivers Files but also to save space. My biggest problem is when I get a driver pack with many folders and a lot of files... what can I delete for sure? the setup.exe is probably useless and many other. I started this topic so people could share they're experiment and expertise. Maybe I was hopping someone would come up and say: Well kid, all you have to keep is the .dll + .sys + .inf + .cab and you'll be fine! or something like that.
  8. I was wondering if anyone get the same as I do... I slipstreamed the Service Pack 1 into Office 2003. If I install and go to office update HERE, it tells me that I cannot update since the installation bla bla bla ... I cannot remember the message exactly ... and I should contact my administrator. Anyone got the same and figured out how to solve it?
  9. Oh, I didn't knew that... thanks Bâshrat So if I don't edit the inf file, can I still delete those useless language files from the folder?
  10. Ok, thanks... The error is that I was pointing to I386 or I386\SVCPACK
  11. About KB834707, how do you install this new update in SP2? there is a switch /integrate: but I can't figure out how to use it... Download from Microsoft
  12. Let's say we take a look at my example, in my folder Win2000, Would it be possible to delete all .lhp & .lrc files other than english? should I remove theses entry in the .inf file (keeping only english) or I can leave them there?
  13. After a clean installation of Windows XP SP2, I get theses empty folders in my Program Files directory: 1- ComPlus Applications 2- microsoft frontpage (with 2 empty sub-folders) 3- xerox Can I delete them safely? Are they going to magically re-appears later?
  14. Hello Everyone, i'm pretty much surprised how much it is adictive to play with unattended installation... Ok, so here is my question: Is there a common way to proceed when playing with drivers package? Let me explain with an example. 1- Let's start with a driver package... let's say this one: Intel Graphic Driver 2- Using WinRAR, I can extract the files from the .exe package 3- Then with common sense, I can figure out that the only folder I should keep is the one nammed Win2000. 4- Now I can put this folder inside my $OEM$ folder and put the proper reference in my Winnt.sif Maybe this example was easy but sometimes with other package you get tons of folders and sub-folders + some .cab files + other unknown files... you get my idea. What I know for sure is that I must keep the .dll + .sys + .inf I'd like to get your tricks, opinions and experience on this matter, any input would be appreciated
  15. Yep, you understood pretty well! Thanks a lot.
  16. Ok, for that part but how would you create this link during an unattended installation? I'd like to integrate it in the Network Neighborhood and then put a shortcut on the desktop...
  17. Is there a way to add a FTP link to the desktop along with the username and password in it?
  18. If I remember correctly, they are refering to NAZI symbols
  19. Well, I just wanted to know where is the real source reduction? I took my Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 Volume Licencing CD and I compared the size: 1- The Original CD-ROM is 574Mo 2- Remove some folders reduce the original CD-ROM to 376Mo* 3- The GOSH method reduce the CD-ROM to 363Mo * Removed Folders at root: DOCS - DOTNETFX - SUPPORT - VALUEADD * Removed Folders in I386: LANG - WIN9XMIG - WIN9XUPG - WINNTUPG So using the SUPER SECRET GOSH method, I loose an incredible 13Mo The only claim left is the speed increase... wich I will test on 2 identical computer later this week. Maybe I'll be able to reduce my installation time of a couple seconds... And if you are still wondering, YES, the use of sarcasm is one of my best quality
  20. I agree with you BiG PoppA PumP Maybe they should make the Search button bigger (about half of the screen space)
  21. I don't know for WinRAR but for QuickTime you can set these parameter in the QuickTimeInstaller.ini that sit next to your QuickTimeInstaller.exe [QTSETUP] license_option=0 no_dialogs=true registration_dialog=false supress_speed_dialog=true install_qtjava=false install_qd3d=true install_quicklaunch_icons=false install_desktop_icons=false show_sample=false show_readme=false show_programfolder=false install_qtinfo=false show_programfolder=false
  22. I noticed that cyclopops winnt.bat contains .: Is it valid? in my case I have F: set AnswerFile=.\winnt.sif set SetupFiles=F:\i386 F:\i386\winnt32 /s:%SetupFiles% /unattend:%AnswerFile% /copysource:lang Do somebody know why my winnt.bat generated by setupmgr as assigned a drive letter to it? Also, is the swith /copysource:lang refering to the lang folder? Because I have a localised version of Windows XP (Canadian French) and I have deleted this folder from my CD.
