  1. @tguy yes, I know that...I'm a hardware guy afterall! I've tried everything in the BIOS of the Evo Ultra SLim Desktop (no optical drive) with no luck. For the notebook, it belong to one of my technician and the DVD-ROM multibay unit is out to RMA right now.
  2. Well, there was some rumors + there was this French News I pasted a few post ago...
  3. isn't it a Release Candidate ??? SP1 is not officialy ready.. right?
  4. This is what I was expecting after I've seen this article: In short, it says that Microsoft is planning to offer new patches regarding their OS systems and Internet browser for december 7. Wait & See
  5. This topic is quite interesting... Today, I discovered a laptop (Compaq N600c) and a Desktop (compaq D510 USDT) wich refuse to boot from a USB CD-ROM. So I'll be happy to see the final solution... luckily, there is no rush for me right now
  6. Ok, Result for Windows XP Pro SP2 = no new updates Ok, Result for Windows 2000 Pro SP4 = no new updates So I guess this "BIG PATCH DAY" hasn't begun yet...
  7. I strongly suggest you calm down please. Today is supposed to be a big patch day, I am currently running my simulations to see the new updates. I will post back soon... EDIT: humm... there is no mention about any hotfixes on my the hardware website I consult daily.
  8. Before I did the guide and used the GOSH method, I was using the wxp.bat provided with EasyBoot... this is why I'm telling to be carefull.
  9. June, you are double posting again... please continue your discussion in the topic you started here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=33607
  10. If you take a look at my previous post: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31977 you're gonna see that wxp.bat didn't work with Windows XP Pro SP2 French (Official XP CD from Microsoft, no nLite, slipstream or other utility used) I'll compare my boot folder (gosh method) against this wxp.bat and tell the result today...
  11. Well, before I knew what the problem was IT WAS A BIG PROBLEM... until I solved... Beware that the solution I gave 2 post above is for WINDOWS 2000 SP4 FRENCH...
  12. Wo stop! I should warn you I had problem when I created my boot folder with this method. Please look here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31977 the solution is included in this topic. Basically, I used GOSH method to get the proper boot folder. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE WITH WINDOWS 2000 SP4 FRENCH If I do a comparison between EasyBoot w2k.bat and the boot folder obtained from GOSH method, there is a few files missing: c_1252.nl_ c_850.nl_ kbdfr.dll (probably kbden.dll for english version) vga850.fo_ Copy theses files from your I386 folder (or modify the w2k.bat to do it for you) I also have 4 empty signature files (with no extension) but I am not sure they are required. Create them as they doesn't exist in the I386 folder... disk101 disk102 disk103 disk104 So with this method, you get a perfect boot folder.
  13. Please read the Sticky at the top of this forum... 2 ways: 1- You have a Volume Licence Agreement with Microsoft and they send you automatically the CD 2- You are an OEM builder and you get a windows PE CD inside a 3-pack OEM Windows XP
  14. @andrewpayne thanks, this is what I wanted to know... BTW, as I said in my first post, I downloaded the Unattended Codec Pack and I took a look at it but I haven't seen the registry setting you mentionned. The codec pack is really nice but for my corporate usage, it is too much. I want this PowerDVD codec and maybe the DivX codec but that's all. Is there a simple minimal way to install DivX as well?
  15. You mean : Download the March 29th 2004 Gabest Universal Open Source MPEG Video Decoder (Windows XP/2000/2003)? I always tought PowerDVD has the BEST decoder around... and I just want to integrate their codec so WINDOWS Media Player can play DVD
  16. Sorry to inform you that during a FullUnattended setup, you cannot add drivers by pressing F6. This has been discussed many and many times in the forum. Please take a look into the Device Driver section to get some alternative method to integrate your drivers into your distribution.
  17. You can easily slipstream all post SP2 hotfixes into your Windows XP Pro SP2 distribution using this switch: hotfixe-XXX.exe /integrate: (path) For Windows 2000 SP4, it is possible to integrate some of the hotfixes as well (maybe 6 or 7 of them) but not the majority. I suggest you call them from a batch file, simply.
  18. Hello folks, I posted in the Application section of this forum but I didn't get any answer... I always get PowerDVD OEM with every new computer we buy. I integrated the software in my unattended Installation but in fact I only need to give Windows Media Player the ability to play DVD movies... So my question is what would be the minimal installation? I mean only giving the codec and not having to install the whole software (about 20Mo at source) I took a look at the Unattended Codec pack and saw that CLVSD.ax is copied over to SYSTEM32 and then there's the Registry setting applied: ;DVD im WMP [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\Settings] "EnableDVDUI"="yes" but is that it? Did I miss something?
