  1. Could be - have you got any GP enabled regarding Exchange (and Office/Outlook) 2003 ? Regards, N.
  2. lol also Then i wouldn't bother - its not gonna be worth it. But..... if you really do want to, search the forum for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) which you can do in Win 98 but I wouldnt count on it being any good hehe I have never done it (in 98) so I can't say how easy it is to setup, but i believe you can install a component via Add/Remove - Windows Components I think its under Networking (dont have 98 running so can't say for sure). Good luck. N.
  3. Really sorry - I misread the first post (on account of me being half-asleep). You've not found anyway of identifying the pins on the soundcard then? I'll see if i can find anything for you EDIT: Have you had a look here: http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/down...sp?type=manuals there might be some manual that gives you pin assignments for the header I know its a UK link but you can click the change the county link at the top right. Sorry again and regards, N.
  4. In windows, take a look in the Control Panel. From there, Switch it to "Classic View" and choose "Regional and Language Options". In this, change the location to France and any other language/location settings to France as well if needs be, but I "think" that should be enough. You may want to open the "Phone and Modem options" applet in the Control Panel and if asked for location information, make the appropriate changes. If not, on the window that opens, click on "My Location" (or whatever is selected there) and choose Edit. In the window that appears, check that all the settings are correct for your country and alter them if not ...You are using a 56k modem right? Also, if the above is true, and none of this woks, post back. Regards, N.
  5. You should have had the option to chose your location & regional information. If it is in windows, try changing that first and click the activate windows icon. If it is on the startup when you first start the machine after a install of windows, then you should (unless you have configured it otherwise) be able to change the location and regional information to France (try going Back through the wizard if it allows it). But you can always skip this and do it inside windows. Regards, N.
  6. We could do with a bit more information... - Have you got xDSL/Broadband at all? If so, then youre easiest bet is to get a ADSL broadband router which will do everything you want - plus most (if not all) these days have a hardware firewall and DCHP built-in, which would really help things with your network too. I assume you dont have a server setup (i.e. a Server OS for use as a fileserver) from what you mention regarding a peer-to-peer network In this case then, I doubt you have a DCHP server running which would help your peer-to-peer network stability. Best option would be to get a router if you have broadband, but we need to know more on what internet connection you have. Regards, N.
  7. in a word - memory! I'm only thinking of the top of my head here, but wouldn't you need faster speed memory? Also... - does your motherboard support the Sempron 2200+? - have you ensured that you fitted the cpu correctly? - is the hsf rated to work (disperse heat well enough) with a S 2200+? - Did you remove the old interface material and apply some new thermal paste and also, did you remember to attach the fan header? - Was your system "unplugged" when you performed all this and not just "off"? - have you cleared the bios settings with the cmos clear jumper on your motherboard? - have any of the components come loose while you were performing the upgrade? (did the vgs lead come out? hehe ) I know alot of these are obvious but sometimes, its the obvious things that are the things you forget to check Regards, Nath.
  8. <removed for being blind > Regards, N.
  9. The Neo Power 480 would be an overkill lol Go for the solution series (as youre already familiar with Antec) and you wont be disappointed. Regards, Nath.
  10. cant really go wrong with one of the cheaper Antec cases (that come with a psu). There are cheaper still but it'll do the job nicely. Take a look at http://www.antec.com/us/pro_en_solution.html although I'm afraid I cant say the US prices, you wont have to spend the earth and at least you wont have to worry about the quality of the PSU for the task at hand Hope it helps. P.S. Just be sure to choose one that is big enough for the motherboard to fit in hehe and if you think that this is a 'over-the-top' choice, even the most basic of machines need a good solid psu behind then Regards, N.
  11. <removed for being blind > regards N
  12. Agreed Tarun - me also ... [tho the nail.exe one I've got on a repair job is a little tough to remove - even spoofing the nail.exe after I remove it and the other file relating to it lol but I'll get there] ... and, like you I'm sure, I've seen more than my fair share in the past 2-3 years and unfortunately, it can only get worse. Nice page on your site Tarun Regards and remember everyone that spyware can cause all sorts of trouble and problems where you wouldnt think it usually. N.
  13. Have to agree here....the logic of whats been said doesnt make sense. Vol media IS different to retail and OEM - the p/k used are different too (for plenty of reasons) - so unless its a pirated one, then u must have a veeery unique copy lol I have to agree with Ge0ph, un4given1 & marsden in what they say. Regards, N. PS. And with regards to the original poster - ameisez: Really - you shouldnt be asking that on this forum. My advice is that you should purchase the vol media pack from a authorised MS suppier and make a copy of it to use for day to day installs and so on [no, i do NOT mean piracy] and keep the originals safe. This topic probably should be locked or deleted lol
  14. Thats because its running in "classic" mode stylem I think, tho I don't know how you can get rid of it without a 3rd party app. Regards, N.
  15. Surely, it should work with Dx90c tho? And if not, there must be a patch by now you can get from them in order to fix the issue with later versions of dx9 (c - and better when they come out)? Regards, N.
  16. Bad Boy Warrior: Have a look on www.sysinternals.com for TCPView. There's alot more useful stuff there too, if that aint what you were after Excellent. So you could quite easily and securely remotely administer most of the server/domain functions from your own home? Us Network Admin's could work from home more then Cheers, N.
  17. @Circle: There's no need for this I would have thought, as you can redirect certain folders easily in 2003 GP - Start Menu, My Docs, Desktop, Application Data. Unless I missed something from the script I too used NT 4, but the policy system works a bit differently in 2000/2003 (well, more than a bit different) and has many features already builtin that you don't have to write new .adm's for. At least I haven't so far Regards, N.
  18. Hi there. You should try the suggetsions given. Just because you can browse to those folders yourself, doesn't really mean that the system will - in order to update the GP I believe. Let us know how you get on and what worked (if any does). Regards, N.
  19. @Jonic: Please read previous posts - it's been mentioned a few times already. Also, I think lol, he's tried changing the HDD too. Regards, N..
  20. In truth, I'm not sure. It depends if you have removed something using nlite that cant just be installed later on. There may be some info on this in the nlite section of the forum. Do you have any sort of log with whats been removed using nlite or anything? I'm afraid I dont use it myself so I cant help there, but it may give us a clue as to whats missing (the error may only part of the thing missing if you see my meaning) and may or may not have a idea for a solution. Regards, N.
  21. yep - let us know how that flashing lol goes It could well be the key.... I'm hoping for you it is lol I hate it when this happens. If no luck, then annoyingly, if u have another board of the same model, you ...er...may want to try that as beardedwonder says, it could well be a problem with the motherboard. Too lazy to scroll but did you say you've tried another same spec'd CPU? Have seen them come on before and come up with odd things randomly like this, and after a CPU swap, its been fine too. *sighs* All the best mate. N.

    ramdisk xp

@hough: Nice, but true - who's gonna shell out 800 (whatever's) for a system that they could build a decent new pc for? lol dman solution seems a much nicer idea I imagine there must be more hardware solutions out there so if anyone knows of another, please post it - I'm sure alot of us might be interested in it (even if its just to go "oooOOOO" at lol) Regards, N.
  23. Have you used nlite (or some other program) to modify the install of XP at all? i.e. if your using a customised version of XP, this may be why. Just a quick answer here and only a thought in passing. Regards, N.
  24. that maybe due to the SP1 side of things - the version of windows is slightly different so the program cannot detect it, or that it just cant do it full stop in 2003 SP1 lol I imagine its somethig to do with SP1, tho not MS' fault of course, as it does mention 2003 on the link above. Regards and welcome to MSFN N.
  25. Certainly does, one server we have is using netop - a seperate company who's set up the server for a specific role & uses netop to remote administer it. Its not maintained by me (unless they want me to press Ctrl - Alt - Del for them lol apparently a bug in netop, although it didnt used to happen lol) as such so cant give you more details than that really. But as taggs said, it does do dialin Regards, N.
