Hi All, I downloaded the beta release of Windows Server 2008 from MS Website, burned the iso onto a dvd disk. The system i tried to install is : P-IV 1.8 GHz, 1GB RAM, 40GB IDE HDD The setup starts, I select the partition, format it NTFS, then after skipping the cd key option, i select windows server enterprise option, It starts to copy files, then it says extracting files, then as soon as it finishes extracting files 100% the following error occurs : error code 0x80070714 and the message is 'Setup cannot install files' Any Suggestions ?? Hi All, My cousin's system, windows xp professional edition, running on AMD processor, restarts automatically once we go on to a website called brainsbreaker.com and download their puzzle prog. they recently had the powersupply change due to system restarts, but now after a new supply is installed, its the same thing only that from just this website the system restarts and when we initiate the download. apart frm this the system runs smooth and no hangup or restarts frm any other downloads or browsing. any help ? Hi All, I bought this Bluetooth usb dongle and have lost its driver and app cd while travelling. I tried using it in XP, it detects the dongle but if i want to send multiple images from my Sony Ericsson K800i, it doesn't recieves multiple files neither sends. I have searched the internet for this dongle's drivers and app but no success. I installed it one of my xp machine and it adds a app which lets u send and recieve multiple files. If somebody knows where to find the drivers, i wud be greatful or any other app which wud help me, coz the bluetooth app which is in xp isn't as good as it shud be . fsquirt.exe and it lets u recieve single files. regards Mutahir

Hi, I am using IE7 and firefox, basically i had problems with IE7 beta2 and had to reinstall it, which messed up the registry, then i used the registry repair tool which made my system functional but since then no one with a limited account can access the mentioned sites. i haven't got a router.firewall, norton firewall is installed and running, sometimes (v.rarely) the limited accounts are able to open yahoo mail and or gmail. any help? Hi All, I have asked this question before and I am asking again Actually, only with the administrator account I can open www.gmail.com or mail.yahoo.com successfully in IE7 or firefox, but when I am logged in as a limited user it won't open these two websites or websites which we have to login to, sometimes it opens others but specifically will not open gmail.com and once you enter your username and password in yahoo mail it won't open, neither it will logon to yahoo messenger.. any help or suggestion ? Thank you for ur tutorial of user rights assignments:) My question is : Since repairing resgistry, i (with admin account which was also previously there) can browse and login to any WEB Site i.e. yahoo mail or gmail, but previous users (limited or admin) can't even open www.gmail.com, yahoo mail opens but once u press login after ur username/pwd it displays 'cann't find server'? Any help on the causes and solution for the problem? I have tried both mozilla and IE neither yahoo or gmail opens, every other website opens on all user accounts. regards Mutahir

Hello Mangix, One more problem, after repairing the permissions i can use everything as normal, but when i log on to the user i created (Limited user) they can do everything apart from opening yahoo mail or gmail, hotmail opens in IE7 and mozilla, but neither Yahoo mail or gmail opens, it simply says cannot find server. other sites are opening properly... any suggestion! Mangix, You are the MAN it worked, i went on to the website u provided, then downloaded a small file repairpermissions.exe, put it on a floppy, booted into xp pro safemode with command prompt and run the floppy disk as mentioned on that website now i can boot and use it properly !!! Hello Shindo Hikaru, Sorry for the delayed update as i can't use my pc for coming online coz of the registry issues. I followed Method 1 to find and all the registry keys which were in the IE log file i changed permissions on them, now i have even forgotten what i did with them more over, i didn't bckdup my registry... ANy help? or would i have to reinstall whole winxp, i am using winxp professional sp2. regards Mutahir

Hi All, My System : Winxp SP2. I downloaded and installed IE7 Beta2 which was working ok, then IE7 Beta3 was downloaded and when i tried to install it it gave me an error saying unable to update registry, i searched and on microsoft support they had this document which guides you to correct registry permissions and then try to reinstall it Microsoft Support Link : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917925 So, i followed it and changed registry permissions on HKLM, HKCR, and on the others as well. Now my system will boot properly but on the welcome sreen or once i have logged in it will firsrt give an error of Norton personal firewall won[t start, neither would nortn av would. If i double click on my computer it take ages to display the contents, and i can[t get to network connections in any way to dial the internet. Please Help, looking for a way to rectify this without reinstalling xp. Thanks and regards Mutahir

Hello All, I am using the following Operating System: Windows Server 2003 SP1 I had to switch to another broadband provider i.e. "NOW BRoadband" in UK. It installs fine in windows xp but when i try to install on win2k3 it just gives an error box without any message in it. I have even configured it on macosx, which is pretty straightforward, as for mac, u need to go to a cerain page once modem is connected via ethernet and then u configure the ppoe options in network settings. in win2k3 when i check my network card there is no ppoe option to configure the username and password. any help ?? This is probably a spyware, dont follow these instructions, try to disconnect from the internet and then run adaware and install antivirus/firewall before going back online.

In admin tools > Domain Security Policy > then look for account policies in which u can specify the policy setting for the password type I was facing the same prob yesterday As soon as i get home i will check the exact menus and post it here for you Try to look in Domain security policy and then on the left hand side pane check for Account policies Hope you find it, till i post here again Regards Hello mraslann, Administrative Tools >Domain Security Policy> Then Under (on your left hand side of the screen) Security Settings > Account Policies>Password Policy >> then in the right hand side frame "Password Must meet complexity requirements" disable it and check the other options available as well like minimum password length etc. this applies to all new user creaton Domain wide if you want to make a user for the domain controller to log on locally then same process but a different snap in i.e. Domain control security Policy and same steps Hope this helps! Hello All, I have just downloaded and installed nLite on my xpsp2 machine, after looking thru nLite and copying windows xp files to my hard disk, i saw it gives me options to integrate drivers and patches, can i slipstream applications as well via nLite ? Hello All, I have a dell dimension 5000, PIV 3.0Ghz, 1MB cache, 1GB DDRII, 160GB SATA, 80GB SATA, DVD ROM & Burner. Question is : Sometimes, when i am using my pc, suddenly a noise/sound comes frm the machine like "bhoooooooooon" like as if the fan is in action, i am not Knowledgeable about hardware thats why i am confused whether its a problem with my machine - Also I keep my machine always ON, it has never been switched off since 7 months but i have restarted like once in every 3 days or so. I am using windows xp pro sp2. its like when you start adobe ps2 while other apps are running this noise/sound comes but then goes down and i have noticed that cpu usage goes a bit high as well. apart frm that machine is smooth and works like a charm. i hope its not a hardware problem... would be greatful for all of yours experienced advises. Hello All, I would like to get some advise on which Laptop to buy? Sony Vaio Toshiba Dell IBM HP/Compaq I had a look some Sony Vaio specs, just to give an idea they were Pentium M 2ghz, 1GB DDr2 Memory, 100GB HDD, 128 MB Nvidia GEforce, 2MB cache processor (Budget is not a issue) Also, this above config is 1.95KG in weight.
