  1. FYI Update, version 2, released 6-19-08 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en Hope this helps.
  2. @Boooggy A “for what its worth” comment. A made a new nlited DVD, with the latest 1.4.5.5?, windows xp pro + sp3 + various add-on’s, component removal, driver integration etc. Everything worked like a charm, however, it turned out that I accidentally deleted the windows media player 11 installer from my hot fixes and also hadn’t installed your slipstreamer. Therefore, when I went to windows updates, I was presented with the option of installing WMP 11. Installed same, and “finally”, getting to the point, I only had to install “one” critical update, the one we have always known, KB941569. So, again, maybe worth noting, no “other” updates seem to be necessary. Maybe it’s a “SP3” thing. I don’t know. Of course, without your slipstreamer, I now have four programs show up in my “add and remove programs” that weren’t there before when using your ‘slipstreamer’. Namely: Microsoft Compression Client Pack 1.0 for Windows XP, Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack 1.0, Windows Media Format 11 Runtime and Windows Media Player 11. I assume, using your slipstreamer, these are “all” installed they just don’t show up in “Add and Remove” because of the “slipstreaming”. That’s it. The end. Hope this helps. Great program, by the way, thanks for everything. Eddie
  3. You know, if you want people to help you, you need to provide a "lot" more info than what you posted. That said, have you tried going to the manufacturer's web site, quite often they post everything you need and can be easily downloaded. There are also a number of websites where you can download for free the necessary drivers, based on the spec's that you should have on your computer. The "Intel" info that you provided is just "not" enough. Hope this helps.
  4. @carnificina Maybe already reported, but if not, here goes. I recently installed ‘A-Squared Free 3.5’. First scan, it detected: Trojan-SpyWin32.Banker.mjh in nlite addon maker 1.2.4. I uninstalled, got a fresh copy of the exe from here: http://virtualltek.mgbr.net/inicial.php?page=index , reran ‘A-Squared’, same result. I instead installed the ‘new’ beta of nlite addon maker, and A-Squared did not have a problem with it. Unfortunately, today I had to make a cab for ‘SuperAntiSpyware’ where you have to use the “msi” and the ‘beta’ nlite addon maker would not let me make a cab. That is to say, it would “not” let me click in the area where you put in your silent switch. So, I went back to the ‘old’ nlite addon maker, and made my cab. Since I had gone to the virtuall tek site to get the ‘old’ “maker”, I decided to run A-Squared again, same result, it said I had a ‘Trojan’. I, of course, uninstalled it. I realize this could be a false positive, but A-Squared did rate it a ‘high risk’ and anyway, I thought you might want to know. Thanks for the “GREAT” program, Eddie
  5. Suggestion, go here first to see if an addon already exits so that you don't have to make your own: http://www.msfn.org/board/Application-Add-Ons-f132.html Second, when using nlite, you just put them in with the hot fixes. Third, you could download something like ussf.exe, google it, it can i.d. the silent switches necessary to make your own cabs. Fourth, you can download and install a program like nlite addon maker which, now that you have your switch, you can easily make your cabs. You can also go to the applications forum and find switches, and / or you can ask someone to make one for you. Use the search function on these forums, lots of useful stuff. good luck.
  6. Have a look here: http://www.epsilonsquared.com/installrite.htm I tried it, it seems to work very well. Actually has a 'wizard' that walks though most of it. At the end when you tell it to make the 'kit', be sure to select silent installer and 'force no reboot'. Afterworks, made cab as suggested using nlite addon maker, you don't input any switches. I extracted the silent installer, to test, you than need to reboot, and the installation was successful. Will now need to test on a virtual box setting. Oh, its actually, 'installrite', not install right. hope this helps.
  7. @Boooggy I did a slip of my xp pro + sp3 + your WMP 11 + a few addon's. These 'addons' are the ones that don't change, like my Microsoft works suite program, DotNet, etc. Thus, this CD becomes the basis of making a second finished DVD with all other options/rotating 'updated' hot fixes, component removal, etc. This, therefore, speeds up the overall process when making my 'final' DVD. ? I noticed that there are two files, not to big, WMP9 & WMP10, about 2megs each, can they be deleted or are they essential. Thanks in advance. Great program by the way. Eddie
  8. I also had a bit of a challenge in finding my drivers. What I did was use the following program: http://www.drivermagician.com/ You ask it to find the 'non' microsoft drivers and it was able to find everything I needed in one step. I don't use the printer or scanner ones, just the normal ones, monitor, intel, system, etc. All the ".inf's" are found and placed in one folder which you can use in nlite driver intergration portion. Hope this helps.
  9. Have a look here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Looking-for-a-ne...AV-t116212.html And here: http://www.msfn.org/board/AVG-Anti-Virus-S...html&st=100 Not an easy fix. Frankly, I have moved on. I found the ‘new’ AVG really slowed down my system. Am now trying Avast. Hope this helps
  10. I think it was Yogi Berra that said: It ain't over till its over. Meaning, SP3 ain't "FINAL" till its final: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPo...0&SiteID=17 Hope this helps.
  11. @radix Try as I might, I just can't seem to make it come out right. I used your suggestion for the 'space' bar and it seems to work, on to a finished installation. But, when you 'click' on the "A" to stop and then finalize this part and save it, the final result is an already finalized 'au3', that looks like a 'word' document instead of the "autoit" icon, which is bogus. Doesn't let me compile, if you right click on this 'word' au3 their is no normal autoit menu??? And if you click on it, it goes to installing. That's not right. Perhaps I could persuade you to make me an AVG Free 8 script, without the toolbar, of course. I can then use that to make a cleaner 'silent installer' via the 7-zip method, like I/we did for Zone Alarm. Thanks in advance, Eddie
  12. Just an FYI. I uninstalled my previous version of AVG Free 7.5, being careful to also search for and delete any remnants found in C:\, etc. After words, I installed AVG Free 8.0. Set it up as I desired. Then I went to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVG 8\cfg. Copied the contents to a new folder. Extracted the contents of the setup file, avg_free_stf_en_8_100a1295.exe, to its own folder. Copied the previously saved “cfg” files to this folder. (They included, I believe the following four files: krnl.cfg, mail.cfg, sched.cfg and user.cfg.) Using the nlite addon maker and using the following switches in conjunction with the “avgsetup.exe“: /hide /no_welcome /NOTOOLBAR , I made a cab. I extracted the ‘silent installer’ from this cab. At this stage, I uninstalled AVG free 8.0, again being careful to uninstall in remnants in C:\. I also uninstalled the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable” that is installed when you execute the avg setup file. It should also be noted that ‘AVG’ states that you “CANNOT” have AVG anti-spy ware or Spyware Blaster installed on your machine. They are ‘not’ compatible. Therefore, I also uninstalled those. I executed my ‘silent installer’. It installed smoothly and without issue. When I opened the Internet, there was no ‘Yahoo toolbar’. Great. I then tried the ‘cab’ in a virtual machine. No go. Failure. BSOD. End result, if you want to do ‘this’ procedure, you will at least, have a “silent installer” that you can apply after a ’new’ installation. Don’t know if you can run this ’silent installer’ as a ’runonce’ thingy. I will let someone else check that out. Or maybe an ’autoit’ script would work. I tried to make an ’autoit’ but I got stopped where I wanted to uncheck the box to install the ’toolbar’, I don’t know the keyboard command’s to get around that. But maybe this is one of those programs, like Zone Alarm, that just can’t be slipstreamed. That’s it. The end. Thanks to jjvs for his guidance. Good luck and post back if you find an easier working solution. Eddie
  13. Yes, me too! I guess I should have checked it before I posted. Dang it. It worked when I just did the 'switchless' install from the nlite addon maker.
  14. Sad to report that I got a BSOD using the switch bbrian found. So sad. back to drawing board. I'll revist the jjvs idea, regarding noavgtoolbar
  15. Great find! Thanks, bbrian That seems to have worked. I uninstalled previous installation, (FYI, there are a number of folders left behind after uninstalling, have to remove manually, do a search for 'avg'), used nlite addon maker to make my cab, and installed. Rebooted. Installation went smoothly and no toolbar. Another FYI, in Add & Remove you will find: AVG free 8.0 "AND" Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Haven't done a virtual box install yet, but usually if I can install the switchless installer that is created by the nlite addon maker without any problems, then usually everything works. Will post back if I find out otherwise. Again, thanks bbrian.
  16. AVG_Free_STF_en_8_100a1295 http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/ Thanks in advance, Eddie Based on the following, posted by bbrian on applications forum, this seems to work: I saw this on the Something Awful forums a minute ago. CODE avg_free_stf_en_8_100a1295.exe /hide /no_welcome /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSurf /REMOVE_FEATURE fea_AVG_SafeSearch After I do a virtual box test will post back if it doesn't work.
  17. all this means is that the one used by nlite, when the latest edition was created, included the older 7z version. As we all know these different versions are updated all the time. Not to worry. If you don't want the 7z included in nlite, I would assume you can either, uninstall nlite or 'replace' the older version of 7z with the newer version. Haven't tried the latter, but it should work. hope this helps.
  18. Thanks, jjvs That 'kinda' worked, but there were some issues. I "had" setup AVG 8 the way I wanted, which included "not" having the "Yahoo toolbar", then I made the 'cab' with the "old" switch and installed same. Then I 'deleted' the 'new' "cfg", which were only two files, and replaced it with my previously saved '6' cfg files. I was able to update without issue and all seemed well. Then I opened up the Internet, and first thing I see is a warning from AVG that the spyware component cannot connect, I had of course selected that it not be installed previously, and there was also the matter that it installed the "Yahoo Toolbar", which I had also said not to install. So while "your" workaround did work, thanks again, I didn't really get what I really wanted, which is a "smooth overall" silent install configured the way "I" want. Which gets back to the "old switch" just isn't going to cut it. Thanks again, Eddie
  19. Thanks for having a look, Rado. I reposted in the application installs forum as you suggested. Thanks again, Eddie
  20. In the past I have used the following switch for AVG Free without any problems. This switch did not seem to work this time. It installed silently, however, the updater “database” keep saying there was an error. When I installed the ‘exe’ normally there were no issues. AVG_Free_STF_en_8_100a1295 http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/ /HIDE /DONT_START_APPS /NO_WELCOME /NO_AVGW_STARTUP /QUIT_IF_INSTALLED Thanks in advance for any guidance, Eddie

  22. Maybe try a different switch, /qn, have a look here: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=234696 Hope this helps
  23. If you look at this note, it mentions that 5508 & 3311 are essentially the same: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPo...9&SiteID=17 In addition, when I slipstreamed 'it' on my original xp pro with sp1, on my computer/properties it just shows sp3, however, if you go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system info/hardware abstraction layer, it will list it as version 5508. Hopefully the final version will come out soon. Hope this helps.
  24. -- hmmmmm. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, it is my understanding that in order to update to the "next" beta or to the final "RTM" of Sp, the previous version "MUST" be uninstalled. If you slipstream today, the customer will not be able to update by themselves.Just a word of caution. Good luck
  25. Maybe if you post your last session.ini, someone can review same and offer some advice. Only a suggestion.
