  1. IMHO phpBB is good forum software, I set up a club forum using this and it is really simple and is a well supported community. I suggest you try looking at several others before committing to one. phpbb has a log on page and people have to register, I guess for a work environment you can register them yourself and tell them what their username and passwords are...... it is real simple to do. http://www.phpbb.com Just run the install scripts, remove the install scripts and that is it!
  2. Put this into your html page, changing 10 to a higher number will increase the delay time, hopefully this might help you out. <head> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="10; url=./index.html"> </head>
  3. That is exactly what I did..... nothing else seemed to work.
  4. Can I put you guys straight???? It ain't called SOCCER...... it is called FOOTBALL. Funny clip tho'
  5. 75% Hardcore Junkie -- (61% - 80%)While you do get a bit of sleep every night and sometimes leave the house, you spend as much time as you can online. You usually have a browser, chat clients, server consoles, and your email on auto check open at all times. Phone? What's that? You plan your social events by contacting your friends online. Just be careful you don't get a repetitive wrist injury...
  6. That is the answer.... DIY it.... far more satisfying plus if it does not work there is noone to blame except YOURSELF!!! hehe....
  7. Anyhow enough of the ranting about the Mr Gates..... If he was a member of your family, what do you buy the richest man in the world for his birthday?
  8. It does sound like spyware....... get spybot and adware and also download Hi-jack this, run it and post your log up on here and will try and say which ones to delete.
  9. I agree with what Biohazard is saying, if I was to use it for work I would go for WPA encryption as this is supposed to be more secure than WEP. Yes you can "sniff" the wireless out..... and you can "record" the packets, and with enough information you can extract the WEP key.
  10. Send it back and get the supplier to replace it, you don't have anything to lose except a week or so......
  11. I have come across this today on a PC, they only thing the user has installed recently is SP2, as an upgrade not a clean install..... so I wondering what else could have caused this. Eventually you get through to the desktop by pressing enter on all of the error boxes and then log in, but I just get a blank screen, can see the wallpaper and can get the taskmanager but nothing else. I also tried to run explorer.exe from the task manager but to no avail and the same error messages. PC is a P4 2.8 with 256mb and 80gb HD, it is about 5 months old and was working fine before the SP2 install.... but could just be a coincidence. Thanks in advance.
  12. I had a brand new router, straigh out of the box.... did not work, I sent it back and got it replaced, doubt it would be the network card from what you have said. I don't have any other ideas..... sorry.....
  13. Could be a hardware issue, have you tried a different router? (if possible) or a different cable? or as you say your network card... you need to eliminate these first.
  14. I have had one of these for about a month now, very good, mine cost £65 GBP. Not brought any dual layer discs just yet as they are quite expensive in the UK compared to the cost of single layer ones..... It has not failed any burning discs, both CD and DVD-R.
  15. Maybe a silly question but here goes....... When a someone vists a website, is it possible to detect what type of internet connection (dial up or broadband) using either javascript or html?? I would like to be able to automatically divert a user when they enter the index page to either a narrowband (dial up) content or broadband content page. If it is a silly one guys just say so.....
  16. I would look these up, check Google for program uses, ie enter SGTRAY.EXE into google and see what it is and whether you think you should have this loaded. BACK stuff up first before changing anything.
  17. Read this http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen..._configure.mspx Then read Gamehead's excellent document. Found here http://www.astromike.com/wireless.html
  18. You can get a wireless print server, see for details http://www.linksys.com/products/product.as...cid=37&prid=584 or if you have the slot in your HP, contact HP and get a Jetdirect card installed, not sure how much these are as mine came with the printer when I got it 2nd hand.
  19. I did a security via symantec's website.... STEALTH on everything, as I thought!! B)
  20. I have exactly the same piece of hardware that is connected to a BT ADSL line and I switched my software firewall off and not had any issues, not saying that it is right. I have not run a security check on it!! Might just do one now and see what it has to say!
  21. The btopenworld one is okay, agree about the others, but even if you delete these the processes that are running will just put the entries back. You need to identify which processes are running that are not your normal programs and check to see if they are either valid operating system files or files from programs you have installed. (Google is good for this) Once identified you need to boot in safe mode, and remove the offending files..... I normally rename them with a .old extension, just in case they are 'real' and I can turn them back again. Boot up as normal and check to see if the 'bad' processes are running. re-run hi-jack this and remove the entries mentioned. If you are not sure which processes, post your task manager screen up and will have a look.
  22. Can you also post which processes are running AFTER you have started the PC. Lots in that log, will have a read and come back to you.
