Just a thought.Have you recently installed or accessed anything from a floppy disk? Look in the recently opened documents list on the start menu. If there are any files listed there that were on floppy delete them. Right click the start button and select properties.Put a dot next to "start menu" (If there isn't already one there) and click the customize button.On the advanced tab click the "clear list"button.Close the boxes. Does that help?

Do you have any anti-virus software installed? Some anti virus programs have a default feature where they automatically try and scan the first drive in the sequence(floppy)whenever you execute a shortcut.

What driver version are you using? Some people running w2k or XP have experienced the sound loop and no SPDIF out using the official drivers. If Babis's solution doesn't work try this; Go to user accounts and click on create new account.Type a name in the box,but don't use the same name as the administrator account you already have,you can change it to "Michael" later. Click on next and put a dot next to "computer administrator",then click on create account. Now delete the original administrator account,and then rename your newly created admin account by following Drews instructions in his earlier post. Hope that helps.
