My computer is less then 1 month old. I'm using the stock graphics card and driver that came with it. This problem of only going on standby 1/2 the time started about 2 or 3 weeks after I got the computer. I have a Compaq Presario with an Intel Celeron 1.3 Gigahertz Processor. 512 Megabytes Of Memory. And A 40 Gigabyte HD.

Help. I have a problem that has me very puzzeled. My computer (Windows XP) will only go on stand by 50% of the time. After using my computer I attempt to go on standby and it hangs on the screen..."preparing to stand by." I have to hold the power button in and reboot it, then go to stand by. However the next time I use the computer it will go to stand by with no problem at all. Then the next time I use it it will hang again when I attempt to go to stand by. Again I have to hold the power button in and reboot and then go to stand by. The next time I use it it goes to stand by with no problem. So you see it is doing it exactly 50% of the time. I have no problem with shutting it down though. It will shut down every time I choose that option....it never hangs when I do that. Any suggestions / solutions would be very appreciated.
