New changes, need opinions.
Lost Soul replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
yep yep im on it, im making a nice customizing html refrence for it,, if you got any more ideals pm me and if it isnt added ill add it to the list i think this will help alot of ppl, ive always wanted to see a all in one list of how and where on customizing wpi, -
its all about pushing it to its limits but if your going to tinker at that then i suggest making sure your cooling methods are up for it, because when you push a component to its limits and beyond youll get alot of extra heat plat spreaders help with some heat on the ram but if your gonna over clock,, use extreme cation because just the wrong amount of over clocking can ruin a system beyond working conditions

Lost Soul replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)

this is probably pretty basic,, how about in a refrence file adding a simple color chart, and also adding text to where you can go to change the color of certain objects like the clock, and so forth..... also in the tut i think you should add a few small lines to tell ppl how to retrieve the extra options buttons if they removed them and want them back.. -
New Options Wizard

New Options Wizard
Lost Soul replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
id have to agree with lionhrt on this one it does seem very cluttered,, very compact i do however like the visible table ideals maybe if it was spaced out alittle better it would give a better presence -
New main interface.
Lost Soul replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
i like it then i dont like it, i like the full screen variable and that can be easily changed in the hta it self,,, but then it all boils down to uswer preference, me personally, if you go with that min and max and close buttons at the top that really defeats the whole purpose of having the exit command in the script,, what i think you should do is simply write a variable entry in the site informing users that they have the options to do this and tell them what variables they can change to do this,,, it is actually a very easy thing to do, i think you should keep it the way it is and just give the users choice of what they want and if they want it that way,, show them the variables that they can change and let it roll from there these are the basics of the variables one can change with in the hta and thats always at the top it shows how to use the hta like i said before i think the best way is leave it like is and give the user choice by informing them of what they can and cant do,, so i suggest adding a small tut in te site for this well thats my 2 cents -
i wish i could answer this ,, but i wanna go raid setup my self and i dont know to much other then a few articles that ive read,, but for me i think id go raid 0 because i want the speed .. but heres a question what type of real speed gain can you get from a raid setup in 0 setting ?
-
@Zxian ok thats a nice heat sink btw heres my update lol yes my mobo has a health monitoring here it is all my volts are normal even the 12v which is really 12.09v so all my volts are normal its strange how they are off in speedfan now my temps are throught the bios stats are cpv temp external 57c / 134f cha temp 40c / 104f cpu temp on die 68c / 154f this is before i ever restart the pc but then again there really isnt much difference in betwwen before and after effects of reseting excepting for the lagging effect let me know what ya think,, those temps were checked about an hour or so after running ,,, think im in need of more cooling ? it kinda looks like a yes,, i see it as it needs improvment,, but the lagging effect is still bugging me,, and this is all i can think of thats doing it.. thanks lost soul

i believe this is a free shareware for trial http://www.pcnet-online.com/downloads/hddregerator.htm it should regenerate the partion but yet i havnt ever tried it best of luck
-
za is ok but i found it to be a bit of aa resource hog, and i didnt like that it kept attacking a few progs that were not even virus,, so then i switched to Kaspersky and to me thats the better choice,,, but as they as each to there own, i guess the best method to choose one is try a few free firewalls 1 at atime and compare then if you find one you like more then the other you could always purchase the pro version

well put lionhrt , i couldnt of said it better my self

NEED to recover data from deleted partition....
Lost Soul replied to Nakatomi2010's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
ive never had this problem but i think this tool can help you but its not free Handy Recovery 2.0 Handy Recovery 2.0 is an easy-to-use data recovery software designed to restore files accidentally deleted from hard disks and floppy drives. The program can recover files damaged by virus attacks, power failures and software faults or files from deleted and formatted partitions. If some program does not use Recycle Bin when deleting files, Handy Recovery can restore such files. It can also recover files moved to Recycle Bin after it has been emptied. -
@Zxian can you help my deciple this alittle,, to me its still showing very hot and this is before i ever restart my,, so its still working fine at this point.. but what i dont understand is why my 3rd fan says 0 rpm,, when i do have a fan on my mobos 3rd spot,, it seems to me that the fans are not matching up to either of these tests can you help me understand it.. this problem is getting worse btw i do have 2 case fans ,, plus all the other fans that are used like power block, vids, chip set fan and heat sink fan let me know what ya think before i start to run off and ordered a few things

sorry for another post i just realised i never answered your last question so this is what you could do by adding the /Y /I /Q at the end it will create the folder for you silently with out questions askedheres an example well depending wether the shortcut was placed in your main user or All Users youd simply use the %USERPROFILE% if its in the main user,, and use the %ALLUSERSPROFILE% variable if its installed a shortcut to the all users folder there ya go m8 good luck i hope that helps
-
ahh ok i gotcha well in that case you could just place the move script in the same folder as your game that your trying to install and call to it after each game installs so your right on that and no worries on the english lol hell look at alot of my posts i rarely ever correct my fast typing errors lol

[help]command for c:\program files\aaa\bbb.exe
Lost Soul replied to swbchen's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
it all depends on what type of exe files you are prefering to, different progs are packed differently therefor needing different switches -
yes you can set the start menu / all programs up the way you want it in catagories if you like,, there are a few ways to go about this me i like to go into $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs and make all my subfolders and so forth then after each program that i instal through wpi, i like to make a seperate cleanup file that routes the short cut the way i want it and delete its old path and also delete the desktop short cut if there is one an example is this you can also use this to delete the desktop shortcut it makes i like to make my batch cmmand called move.cmd and place it in the same folder as the program and call it after each prog has installed example thats just the way i do it, i like to make a seperate move.cmd file for every program in wpi mainly because some times i may not want to instal everything, thats why everything in seperate,, if you place everything in the same move.cmd file and you decid not to install everything then you will get a nasty looking menu layout with X's where the file that you moved never was hope that helps you out. like i said theres a few ways to go about this and thats how i do it,

my mistake, but any ways it does sound like a nice ideal to have everything in one place, nice and easy to find and also easy to update and not have things scattered

ok heres my latest update first i dl'ed MemTest ran it up to 450% and it had no errors at all second i checked all the wires and reseeded them along with the ram that still didnt fix the problem next i dl'erd a prog called MBM 5.3.7.0 to test out the heat on various parts of the mobo, im not sure how percise this is. but to me it looks hot test scans ran a average of case : 105 F cpu diode : 152 F cpu socket : 123 F im not sure what an average temp for a xp 2400+ also what ive noticed by using task manager is before i restart my pc when its still in its good stat off a fresh start before probs occur my cpu uses at idle 0% but after reboot it uses 15 to 25 % at system idle. heres 2 pics of my task manger on the before and after effects of rebooting now let me also explain some thing else. ive ran my setup with my unattended disk with full exact setup on 2 different pc's that i have and they run perfectly normal even after rebooting them. and they have all the same progs and everything running. this is a very strange problem to me and also when installing my unattended etup on this pc it did over heat and shut down on me thasts why i believe its over heating,, so i think either way ill have to fix that by changing my cooling fans and everything out for that what do you guys think ? is it my cooling issues that are hurting me like this ? but if thats true, why is it that after a reboot, the cpu is up to 25 % and tasks like explorer and isass are taking up resources when the only thing opened is the task manager.. and before the reset the cpu idles at 0% with only the task manager open.. ? any ideals,,
